My brothers and I used to pretend to be villans and heros. We had a super long, blue electrical cord. It was like 15 feet and I'd use like 8-10ft of it and somehow figured out how to crack it at like 13 years old without injuring anyone involved. After watching this channel, I realize how easily we could have all been in the ER with serious injuries.
I know this guy’s tired of hearing how beautiful he is, but LORD! So many of us, I’m sure, didn’t even know whip cracking was a thing but after algorithms introduce you to this gorgeous specimen of the human male species, you’re hooked. And then he opens his mouth! ❤️ Even the voice compliments that body! Kudos to you, sir! You bring people joy. Keep it up!
Thank you so much! I used to crack whips when I was younger, and I've really been looking to get involved again. This was great for choosing a shorter whip, and I never had considered getting a nylon one. So you just saved me several hundred dollars to get back in the game!
Hubby and I love your life story. Being from a circus family is certainly rare in our times, and not an easy thing to be when growing up and attending school. Plus, a professional whippeur who is also an NPR announcer ?? Talk about being one of a kind!!!🎉 Wishing you a peaceful day.😊
Is Jacques getting more beefier? Hitting the gym more often lately maybe? I support it if that is the case lol, and always a fan here. I've seen his show for the first time like 7 or 8 years ago in King Richard's Faire, and then after that, the next show I've seen him was last year. And I was amazed that he looks almost the same after 7-8 years lol. Very talented and very handsome guy, and very entertaining to watch.
Filming often has probably contributed to it. I imagine multiple takes causes a bit of growth. I need to know shoulder boulders like that are attainable 😭😅
@@Miss_Camel Is this for me? Oh I am a gay guy, and he seems to be straight, I believe, and he's actually married now to a girl. Him acting gay is just his way to attract a broader audience. I've made a few nylon whips some years back, the only reason I stopped was no longer having space to plait properly. They're a really good option for starting out, and for really humid environments. I should make a new one soon and get back into practice.
I made a few whips around 15-18 years ago. There was next to no info online for making paracord whips, and what there was was pretty confusing for beginners. In the last couple of months, I found myself looking at videos on RUclips, and there are some pretty great videos and video series. I've just finished my 3rd bullwhip, and I'm just changing bits on how I'm making the whips to try to make a whip that I can be proud of. If you are able to get back into making some whips, go for it and have fun 😊👍👍👍👍
As teenagers we all had leather bullwhips in our neighborhood. New kids on the block came from Mexico and got us started cracking. ( back in the late 60’s) It was a lot of fun learning. Love your videos.
Fantastic video, I learned a lot. Though you play a French whipper, we don't have much this culture here in France (safe for...well...you get my point!). All I can say, is the sound of cracking is amazing!! 🤩 Big salute from France 🇫🇷 👋
Bravo. That was awesome. Concise, informative and entertaining. Last time I cracked a whip I was 12 years old (now 54) and after watching this I'm seriously considering buying a new one.
Thank you sir. You have just answered basically all of my questions except one: what advice do you have for someone contemplating getting into targeting?
Just got a Indy style bull whip (10 ft) not too long ago and this video has definitely been the best on the basic dos and donts of starter whip cracking. Thank you!
Hey Jacque, thanks so much for sharing this video. I have wanted to do whip cracking since I was a kid! My brother and I bought cheap whips when we were teenagers and needless to say we found out real quick they were just for decoration and not for whip cracking! We did have fun with them while they lasted. I haven’t bought another one since as I didn’t know what kind to get. Now I can get cracking and start practicing! You are just so good at it!!
Love watching whip crackers - in the West, they also lasso & that's really nifty too, but omg it is so awesome to see this outside the cowboy context for once in my 5 decades hahaha! I've seen the skill done by masters, but never the skill and the show in one! Viva la circus!
Last time I saw you was at King Richards Faire. It has been almost 10 years! I frequent the Deerfield Beach Ren fest. I can't wait to get home to Massachusetts and see you and Ses Carney again!
I used to play with a whip when I was young. Helped me vent my anger and frustration (I used to get picked on a lot). Never did anything fancy, but getting that whip to crack felt really good. In retrospect, it's probably a miracle I didn't seriously injure myself, as it was an at least 6 foot leather whip that had the string at the tip replaced with leather shoelace (the original intent was to kill snakes with it).
Bought my first whip at the Ren fair! 🥳Can’t wait to give these a try! Next I’ll be looking into a performance hybrid and a leather 5fter. 🤗🖤 Thank you, Jacques!
I learned to whip over a decade a go! I don't do it anymore I don't own a whip anymore so I live vicariously thro Ze Whipper 😂❤ I wanted to be Indiana Jones when I was little 😂
Great video! I wish I had this about two years ago when I got into whip making and cracking, I figured out most of these tips in the end but it took a lot more searching.
This tutorial helped a lot! I used some of your poses as references for a character Im making who has a whip with a fire spirit inside it! Very cool :]
THANK YOU FOR TALKING ABOUT SAFETY! I make paracord whips, and I always tell the people I teach to crack to wear some sort of eyewear, because paracord in your eyeball is no fun at any speed. Anyway, God bless :)
Interesting stuff, as someone who has used lunge whips in horse training, as well as the occasional chase down of the loose cow, alpaca, or pigs, the difference in the short handled whips you use is quite interesting.
Having spent many years on my uncle's cattle ranch during my teenage summers, I learned how to use a bull whip early on. Will absolutely agree 100% that catching yourself in the back of the calf with shorts on is a rather painful reminder to wear pants. However, after many years of helping out around the ranch, I got at least competent enough with whips to use them beyond that job. Nothing professional, but it can be an impressive and sometimes useful skill to have in your back pocket for the right participants.
Not gonna lie, at first I only pressed play because he's stunning, but the video was very informative and thoroughly enjoyable,...kinda tempted to buy a whip now though😂❤
This was so interesting and well-presented. Thanks for taking the time to break this down! I would love to take up this or archery. They are both very appealing to me although both are pretty different lol
when i was 6, my mom bought me and my brother (9) each a bullwhip and let us go wild with essentially no supervision. it's a miracle we left our youth with all of our eyes and digits in tact (and not just from this brilliant decision). All of the cardboard in the house...not so much. And the cats all developed PTSD (but were otherwise unharmed). 80s parenting at its finest!
This has encouraged me to go back to practicing with poi since a whip is not yet in the budget and my shoulders could use some practice that isn't aerials, lol. If you have done any poi spinning, would you say that the reversal of direction to crack a whip is similar to stalls to reverse spin direction with poi?

He has a portrait of himself as an old man in basement and thus ages in reverse Dorian Gray style
I think the jeans and button up/vest combo just 'hug' him better and accentuate what he already has moreso than his costume does.
