I just did mine yesterday. lol, i did it 2 weeks ago. I had a new gasket but no gasket maker as it's meant to be installed dry, but after a week of driving, it slowly was leaking... so this time, with a new gasket, i added a small amount of gasket maker on top and under the gasket to make sure it won't leak, haha

don’t be so sure mate haha. I had 3 goes at fixing the leak. 1st time gasket + gasket dressing. 2nd rtv only. 3rd time used paper gasket only. And it still has the tiniest pinhole like leak 😂
The gaskets fit like dogs breakfast

@ConceptXX thats for dam sure! Lol, the gasket made so poorly... and funny enough, it's already small leaking, haha, not from the thermostate housing, but from the 2 bolt, it leaks now... I can't win lol least it's shit all... i'll just have to undo 1 bolt, add some thread sealant on it, tight it up, and do the same to other bolt 🤔 can't win, lol

Haha sucked in. I forgot about the bolts… yeah I had one that had coolant seeping through. There’s a lot of strong opinions on thread sealant as I found it.. what are you gonna use?
Also noticed bolts in this vid look slightly different to mine, and don’t have a washer either. I replaced my bolts as they were bukaked and used a spring washer like it was previously

I'm running this cat-back exhaust (dandyexhausts.com.au/commodore-vt-vx-vy-series-i-v6-sedan-2-5-inch-catback-exhaust-system-hotdog-tailpipe/) and have a set of xforce extractors just flanged to the stock y-pipe. i have a video of just the hotdog catback before i put the x-force extractors on, heres the link if interested (ruclips.net/video/cbOhED5UOO8/видео.html)

I swapped the thermostat from my written off VY commy to my Berlina. I forgot to bleed it afterwards and the Berlinas cooling system was mostly filled with air 😅. Twas a fun drive after that

Hey mate I had check engine light and airbag light come on plus a little x in the bottom corner of the left side digital display they just came in randomly and will go away when you do a hard reset but they end up coming back on after driving a few times I’ve check the abs module and that’s find I replaced the thermostat and top hose should I replace the sensors too if that’s the cause of the lights I can’t put a standard scan tool on it as they won’t read cause it’s an ex cop car and I can’t afford a snap on scan tool so plz let me know what it could be

Sorry for the late reply but could it be that you gotta use a obd1 scanner for the older cars? I don't know much about ex cop cars but I would try taking it to super cheap as I think they use a high end one and that might be able to scan for you. But other than that I don't have much experience dealing with fault codes.

@@dismissedtub6717 all good I found out the problem causing my code it was cause of the brake switch sticking what it was doing was conflicting with the cruise control etc once I freed up the switch all the warning lights went out and stayed off then I was able to use the cruise control

My vt temp gauge only shows between a quarter and halfway...and it got so hot the engine stopped...u think doing this what u did will solve the problem. Thnx😊

it could possible be the temp sensor and if your're going to do that may as well do the thermostat. but im not too sure
