coyotes are so close to dogs and wolves that they can interbreed. The only differences is that wolves and coyotes were bred by nature and have certain characteristics and tendencies that humans have bred out of domestic dogs. in other words, with proper understanding and raising of a wild breed wolves and coyotes are just dogs deep down
Fun fact: dogs did not evolve from humans breeding wolves. They were their own species. This is a recent discovery. They are with same family and share common ancestry but not evolved from them. Anything we breed will have an effect on how it looks or behaves. That's what selective breeding does even if it's involuntary selective breeding. This coyote may never breed.
@wickedbasket8858 how can we verify that two closely related canines weren't the same species when that took place thousands of years ago? Also, it would be more likely that it was a subspecies. Also, can we truly say that dogs and wolves are of different species when they often interbreed naturally and have viable offspring? Subspecies is more accurate there too
