Adjusting / Setting Up A Triple Weight Driven Grandfather Clock

This particular grandfather clock was shipped to another state so before preparing it for the trip we wanted to show how it should have been set up and adjusted once it arrived to its final destination and reassembled.

I like how the strike chord is semi-irrelevant to the key the chimes are played in, but yet it's still not the annoying overused howard miller sound.

Yes that's the correct way to wind any mechanical watch/clock movement. Not sure why he moved clockwise.

Never move the minute hand counterclockwise, it could hurt the clock movement.

​@curttuundra INCORRECT!!! Some clocks can be damaged turning the minute hand counterclockwise! Depends on brand and model. EVERYONE should do something most never think about: READ THE MANUAL and SET-UP paperwork!! Then store these documents in a safe place. Mine are inside the clock, at the bottom of the front door opening

Everyone you have to move it clockwise not counter clockwise that breaks the movement and then you need to buy a new movement

You are incorrect. It's actually better to go counter clockwise because it's not necessary to stop and let it chime evey 15 minutes like going clockwise. At least that is true on the several gfc I've worked on including this exact model.

Yes and normally you don't want to move the minute hand clockwise, this can and will damage the movement over time. Not sure why he moved it clockwise. Don't ever move the hour hand , it will move in relation to the minute hand.

it can bit some clocks use Counter Wheel some morden clocks use Rack and snail morden clocks can be moved counter clockvise

Emperor is/was a great company. My grandfather bought several of these in kit form around 1970. I wonder if they are still around, will ask Google.

Awful video. You wasted our time showing the clock face 900 times and slow multiple tours of you touching the hands and looking at the guts.
Next video, be a friend and get to the point. You could have adjusted the weights for instance instead of just talking about something everybody knows. Thanks for nothing👍🏽great job
