Thank you for posting this video, I just obtained a grandfather clock from a dear friend who recently passed away 😥, his brother didn't think that it worked anymore, but it's perfect. Now I know how to properly care for it. ❤ It will be an item I'll cherish for decades.
Yeah I had my parents grandfather clock serviced. Brought it home, pulled weights up, started the pendulum, started setting the time but was going too fast past the 1/4 hr marks to where the chimes would overlap. The clock stopped chiming after that for about an hour but luckily self-reset itself to the correct chimes. I was so relieved!!!
i have a bird clock chirps too a different bird on the hour, and has a picture of each bird.. so i had too re solder a wire and now im trying too get it too chirp on the right bird ..lol
hello, grandfather clock experts on you tube are great. I have yet to fix mine though. It has always been 2 hours slow its entire life. My wife's father and grandfather always had problems getting this clock correct. Now it won't chime at the quarter hours or halves. The good news is that the pendulum swings on time and the clock has been running for a few days now.

Hello I have a colonial Grandfather clock made 1983 I noticed the middle weight is the only one to come down the right and left stay up . Also it doesn’t chime or strike what should I do ? By the way it’s wires not chains .
Love your hiding the key message. I'd not trust anyone to take care of my clock because no one else has one that they haven't messed up. (truth) 😂 I DID ask my adult daughter to wind it on a specific day (a day early, just in case ie Tuesday one week and Monday the next week) and if it stopped somehow, then to leave it and NOT touch anything. She watched me and did so without any issues. (she was in her mid 20s at the time). ❓❓❓Help!! NOW I just wish we could get the thing to work again after moving it with super care, 6 mos ago to the next room, same floor about 12 feet away. Didn't go over carpet or any thresholds as it's continuous laminate floor. Spent days and hours each of those days, trying to level it so the pendulum will continue to swing and without hitting anything. We are STILL working on it as I write. Heeelllllppp! 😢 How hard can it be to level anything? So frustrating. Any suggestions??? H E L P a Canadian please. 😉 🇨🇦
I’ve gotten a Tempus Fugit clock I got when my in laws passed last year. A beautiful clock and it was always comforting when I went to their home the past 30 some years. I brought it home, replace the weights in the same order, wound all 3 chains up and started the pendulum. It will not run. The pendulum stops. What could I be doing wrong.

Does it only strike once every hour? The quarters are right but the hour is off.
It will strike what every hour the hand is on so if it’s 6 and it’s the top of the hour it strikes 6 times after the melody

It's probably not balanced right. Since you moved it, the floor is different now right? Make sure it's level in all directions...

Hold up if you stop the pendulum does it stop the time
yeah. the pendulum moving is what lets the weight fall, so if it's stopped, then nothing moves.
