GF and I rescued one of your beautiful clocks from the trash and put it back together. She has it working, just need some adjustments. Thank you for this video!
If you turn the pendulum nut to the right, so the pendulum moves up the clock will run faster, if you turn the nut to the left the pendulum will go down and the clock will run slower.
I got close a few years but I never could afford or justify spending that much money. They are something very special and warming in the house. Warming ? Maybe comforting is a better word. Clock works are amazing engineering and manufacturing precision. I greatly admire these clocks.
My mother-in-law passed away and we got her grandfather clock model # 4893. It strikes the hour only once each hour. How do i correct this to strike the hours correctly?
I bought a grandfather clock, that once belonged to Lester Henderson. He was a neighbor of Abraham Lincoln. For 3 hundred dollars, it's a pretty good deal.
Wrong. If the clock movement has a snail gear, which this one does, you can absolutely set the time going backwards. If the clock was an antique with a count wheel, then you do not go backwards. My source for my info? I’m a clocksmith.
@@johnvanderschuitfor most people, the advice "just turn it backwards" is bad advice, because most people don't know the difference between those. It is bad advice without first clarifying what sort of mechanism is at play. A clocksmith should know that. (You seem like a real delight, by the way...)

Can't believe how the price has gone up on these 😊...purchased mine in 2005 today its selling for 6,500 on sale from over 8 grand...still looking for my receipt but I know I didn't pay anywhere near these prices.
So our next full moon is on the 17 of Oct, and this is the 28th of Sept, so I'm going back 20 days... if I understand correctly, I would be at 29 1/2, which is the very end of the dial on the right?
He did something you should never do. You would never move the minute hand by using your finger at the end of the hand. It could bend it. Always move the minute hand with two fingers more towards the middle.
Hi dear, I just got a GP clock from the Antique Store. The clock is working, but after three hours, it stops working. I would appreciate any advice? Thanks
Hello. I am working on a Pearl grandfather clock with my handicapable son. We're doing it as a project together. It looks exactly like the clock that is being shown first in this video. When I got my son this clock there was no weights or key. I didn't realize how important thatthe weights were . But my son and I spent many hours Dusting, cleaning and polishing this clock. My question is, how do you know what weights belong to the grandfather clock. Where to buy them? And, where is the identification numbers located on grandfather clocks? I searched everywhere and couldn't find anything. Any information is greatly appreciated. Ty
I purchased a house with a Mason Howard Miller grandfather clock. I followed directions but can’t get it to operate. It’s level but not sure what else to do. Can’t get it to swing or do anything and it’s in nice shape.
my pendulum stops after 5 seconds or so. Just recently moved it from my parents house where it hasn't ran in a couple of years. Did you get yours working? If so, any suggestions for me?
recently moved my parents Howard Miller Grandfather clock to our house. I can't keep the pendulum running. I start it and after 5 to 7 seconds it always stops. Any suggestions?

No! Don’t go backwards with the hands when setting time. Always forwards.

I had just seen your comment and noticed no one responded back. I couldn't help but ask if you found a way?
Which turn way slows the clock and which turn speeds up the clock?
See my post below.

I'm confused by this. the winders and minute hand only rotate clockwise, on my HW clock. neither will rotate counter...

CHECK TO SEE IF ITS LEVEL
Here is a suggestion. The clock must to be as close to perfectly level side to side and front to back, and of course must be wound.
Clean and oil it
Very nice
Si le moví sin saber la aguja pequeña que debo hacer?
