Great, but why if my clock won't strike at any hour? there seems to be zero info about this in the entire internet. Typical empty void of the useless internet.
Keeping the clock and strike / chime trains wound has nothing to do with this problem of striking the wrong hour. One thing has nothing to do with the other. With clocks that have both chimes and strikes both functions stop if the chime train runs down since it triggers the strike. With those clocks the wrong hour won't be struck, but rather the hour will be struck at the wrong quarter of the hour since the chime train is out of sync and it triggers the strike train. The problem with this clock was that the hour hand was in the wrong position relative to the snail which is human installation error. Rotating the hour hand from 6 to 7 moved the hour hand on the snail to where it should have been. A little theory: The snail is a cam with 12 declining steps on it. It somewhat resembles the shell of a snail. The snail is fixed solid on the hour shaft. When the strike train is started at the top of the hour the rack positioning lever is dropped onto the snail setting the chiming rack for the number of strikes for the current hour. As the clock chimes the gathering pallet turns moving the rack to closer to it's finishing position when the strikes for the hour are completed. The more hours that pass as you get closer to twelve, the lower on the snail the rack positioning lever falls causing the rack to have to travel farther. This clock doesn't have a chime train so you don't have 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and on the hour chiming. That can get out of sync if the chime train happens to wind down but the clock keeps running. Most clocks have some form of internal chime train correction which will usually engage at the 3/4 hour mark by itself. In the case of those movements just wind it up and let it run. It will correct itself.

Thank you very much!
You are welcome
you got the chime to match the hour on the face but you didnt explain how to match it to the time that it was as you were setting it. You got it to ring 9 times with the hand on 9 but what if you were setting the whole thing at 3 oclock in the afternoon?
All you have to do is keep moving the hands clockwise slowly until your reach the desired time.
Piper grandfather clock does not time in sequence eight times twice at 2 o’clock several times at 3 o’clock and one time at 4 o’clock how do I get to time in sequence?
It is 3:30 and my clock just chimed 10 times. At 4:00 it will chime once. How do I fix that?
You need to take off the big hand and move it up a half hour to adjust the time

The hammer needs adjusting to ,the ring is dead.
He had his fingers against it so it wouldn't chime as loud.
What battery operated mantel clock...keeps chiming 20+ times no matter what hour
I have no idea that it’s crazy
