Make this a series I loved watching this. Super entertaining and I love watching the process. Would love too see you guys progress into making great boards
Hey man, loved the vid you guys are funny. If you ever attempt this again you can use epoxy to glue the 2 boards together and pre bend them before they dry so you wont have to make the blank so thick to shape the rocker in. Have a good one!
This was amazing (except the sound of that big wood saw on the foam ahha). I'm so glad RUclips recommended this. Wood fins was a special touch, thanks for thinking of the sharks. Def subbed and shared. Y'all are hilarious. Thanks for all the effort it took to make this happen!
16:04 great work transcribing the image! it looks good in my opinion! maybe a bit narrow if anything. I was wondering, why you didn't just make a stencil though? :o
You could have skipped the side fins altogether and just stuck with a centerfin. You're never going to surf that board in conditions that will put that board on a rail. You didn't need to do any routing, either. Just glass and finish the blank and afterwards you can glass on the fin like they did back in the 1960s. And glass on a leash loop for the deck (3/8" worth of wetted fin rope stretching over a bottle cap. Or better yet, you could have just cut two keels like they use on a fish and put one out at each rail. Those always get glassed on for the traditional fish shapes. 7.5" base x 4.75" height. glassed on with 1/8" toe in and 2*-4* cant. Do it again, and this time shape in a little more rocker from the bottom so the board will be more forgiving. The nose tip only needs about 5/8" of thickness before sanding in the rails. You don't need to to attempt a retail finish, either. It'll still surf (and actually be stronger) if you just knock down the bumps in your glassing. You can't get a great finish anyway unless the underlying blank was shaped to near-perfection. Keep going. You can do this.
Yeah I thought about doing it the old fashioned way but really wanted to make sure that it didn't break since the home depot stuff is kind ass. Felt more solid this way and looks a little more thought threw even if it's actually more janky and just for show. Def not going to build another board this way though hahaha. I'll buy a blank if I want to make another
@@Bebeau_Builds I'm not trying to be critical so much as helpful. Not only did I have my own "first build" but I've seen a lot of others. And they all look like this UNLESS the builder has someone who's a bit more savvy showing what to do. Each board that follows will get better, especially if you take advantage of the how-to clips and the free template resources that are online. Or if you're willing to consider input from other builders. My point was and is that you very much can build your own for cheap using Home Depot materials. You can do it, and if you have any interest in doing so I highly recommend you keep going. I think every surfer should build a couple DIYs. Or more. If you're not already tuned into it, you'll otherwise soon learn that boards don't have to be anywhere near perfect in design or workmanship to be fun. Besides, by the time you get to board #10 your boards will start looking very presentable.
BTW, the same way you built your stringer (template the rocker and foil) can be used on thicker panels, and then glue them together. If you can order 3" or 4" thicknesses for the foam and glue them vertically you can not only build any rocker you want, but the multiple glue lines themselves will function just like a wood stringer. That's the technique they use to build the solid and chambered balsa boards.
Technically, saw dust comes from home depo, and so does the dust you could make from it, if you mixed that with your epoxy, it would work similar to cabosil, not as good, but good enough to fillet with.
I dont like push blocks, too slippy with all the saw dust. i used a push stick at the end so that i can push close to the blade, but if you keep your hands flat and use the blade guard its very very safe.
You guys should be proud! Putting the Pink Panther on the board was a super fun touch. Really enjoyed the video!
Proud and relived :) Glad you enjoyed my little touch

Most underrated channel on youtube, looking forward to your next project!
Thanks man! Really appreciate the support!
Two goofy friends, both endlessly optimistic, get shit done and every challenge increases the fun factor. 😄
Yes! Find a really good surfer to get on this board that would be a sick video!!
Dude i know! was trying to get my legendary friend out there with use but he was busy :(
What do you mean Sid is a legendary surfer
@@westoast lol I meant no disrespect Sid I swear! I still think it's a good idea for the channel!
I've been waiting for your next video! The pink panther surfed!

Beautiful is a strong word but thank you man 🤙
this is so sick, good ole sid
My favorite curmudgeon
Yaaay he's back
Making me blush
Always wondered if you could make a board from Home Depot. Ya'll proved it can be done even with haphazard effort! Bravo, nice work.
I was going to make a suggestion, but then I saw how you measured your boards and thought, nah. Looks like a fun experiment though.
hahaha glad you can tell we didnt take ourselves too seriously

That is a legitimate legendary effort fellas. Take it from a long time surfer from Australia who is impressed 🤙🏼
Damn, thank you! Appreciate the prase of a surfer and an auzzie
Hellz Yeah! I’ve been making my foil boards out of the pink panther magic! Yeeew🤙🏾
hahaha pink foam magic BABY! That's super sick dude
Awesome video guys, i love this kind of stuff!
NO WAY! Thanks Luis, means a lot
Don't even know how to swim.
But the video was really fun. Nice job!

Glad you enjoyed it and appreciate our care for the sharks
Great video guys! Well done
I thought this look liked the Oregon coast! Rainier and deschutes pretty much confirms it 😂🤟
Man knows his beer
Was totally thinking about doing this
Great video! It turned out so good
Love the super slowed Mario sound track song
16:04 great work transcribing the image! it looks good in my opinion! maybe a bit narrow if anything.

Thanks haha, I honestly was too lazy anf thought it was more fun to free hand it. The more I mess up the funnier the video
Great work 😮
Dude!!! I had this same idea!!! Didn't get around to it yet
Great minds think alike, send me a pic when you try it out
Hell ya!

Why not use balsa wood for you're atringer
Pretty gnarly dude 🤙
tahaha chya dude
I did this as a kid!!!

What do I need filler for?
the goat is back
Daw, that's too nice
is that cannon beach or? looks great
This video really stresses the importance of having good quality fins on your surfboard
As someone that has taken wire brush bits in a drill to that stuff, how long have you been picking it out of everywhere?
Haven't stopped picking them out 😂
As a kid I glued my hand to my dads truck with super 77. I was scared of the stick
Damn, I should have glued my hand to the wall. That would have been much funnier
Please use push blocks with the jointer next time you use it so that you don't lose your fingers/hands.

Short sands beach?
Yessir
Came to ask the same thing! Sweet!
Aloha from Kauai. Surf that faka at Hanalei 😂
I think I would die, but maybe in a decade 😁
Gorilla glue, it’s water activated but the best glue for that foam
Oh man that's smart, that did not even come to mind
i subbed but because of your boat vid.
A sub is a sub
Tell Sid I said hi
At 4:00, use a planer
You paying? :P
So sad to see that Sid can't generate the striking power to break a scored piece of foam :(
He's been training every day since. Soon I will release a training video
Bro, is that Shortsands?
Beansss
The problem started with Rainier beer
Or maybe the genius started with Rainer, the world may never know
You definitely needed more than 1 layer of cloth when glassing
I did two, I said that 15:49
@Bebeau_Builds oh heck yeah, great board BTW
Great is an overstatement but thanks man 😁
Where can I sign up for surf lessons? 😘
slay king!
Thanks sister!
XPS is 10x better than EPS!!!
well....that video proves that idiots and kooks can (kindda) build and (totally not) surf :-) but hi at least the process is fun :-)
Try buying a good new surfboard. It ain't $200
