Of course, the big risk with a water / flood damaged car is that it's HIGHLY likely to have a water damaged engine. If this is the case, it can take a lot of time and a lot of money to repair it. The first task in any water flood damage repair is to find out if it has a seized engine… Let’s get to work on the BMW M 135i X drive!

Hey Phil, I'm a new subscriber, and I just wanted to say your videos are amazing! Honestly, your view count and subscriber numbers don't do justice to the quality of your content. I really appreciate the effort you put into each video. I own a BMW f21 120d xDrive which is an interesting car as its rear wheel bias and I believe you can send 100% of torque to rear wheels with 'xdelete' (I think the new M135i can only send a maximum of 50% of torque to the rear wheels), it makes your BMW series particularly interesting for me, but I also love watching general DIY car maintenance and modification videos. Keep up the great work!
Hi @Proffesor-Scientist Thank you for your message! Really appreciate the kind words and encouragement 👍 Great that you enjoy all of the various content, I sometimes wonder if some people like my video series but not DIY and vice versa but I like a lot of variety in my work, hence my content is quite varied. Any plans for tuning on your 120d? I’ve heard that they take to it quite well! Also, didn’t know about the open to change the power distribution on your Xdrive, sounds like the best of both worlds. 👍 Next video in the F40 M135i series coming out soon and yes, I’m looking forward to the back to back road test too and sharing it with you guys. 😁 cheers, Phil
Hi Phil - you are a brave man! I’d never dare start such a big project so hats off to you! Great video - looking forward to seeing that engine in bits - will it be salvageable?
@@matthewlobley5766 ha ha! Well, it is quite a big project. The boot of the car and lots of boxes are full of parts now. There’s even a bumper and other parts in the house. Yeah, the fun really starts with the engine strip down. I’m hoping the engine is fixable but we won’t know until it is partly stripped down 🤞cheers, Phil
The new M135i is far better than the old one….. got nothing to back this up as I haven’t driven the old one. But have got the new one in blue!
Living in the highlands mine gets the occasional spirited drive and it handles well and is predictable.
With the Xdrive it has no problem with the snow even on summer tyres from what I’ve experienced.
Hey, thanks for your comments and views on the F40, I haven’t spoken to any other owners yet, so it’s great to get some other feedback! This is my understanding, the new car handles and grips better. As you saw in the vid, I have both (or at least we have got them both in the household!), so do look out for the back to back test towards the end of the video series 👍 Also, long shot but don’t suppose you have been looking into tuning your M135ix have you? Was reading a forum post from someone in the highlands who was investigating a piggyback tuning box and wondered if it might be you! Cheers, Phil

Hi Phil, no not me. For what I need it has enough poke. On the odd occasion I think I would like more, generally when playing with golf R’s.
I look forward to watching you investigate the way forward with tuning. 👍
@@peterherrell3236thanks for the info! No guarantee that Karen will let me tune it, as it’s her car and I think the power output is pretty high for a 2.0T but I’ll defo investigate 👍
Criminal they use the same name M135i 6 cyl the proper one to have.!!!
@51madmitch We'll see! I'm also skeptical but Karen is saying her newer car will whoop my N55's @ss, when the cars are standard from the manufacturer. It'll be fun finding out. My gut feel is that each car will have its own pros and cons... Cheers, Phil
@@ReviveMyRide Lol, it’s the way the 6 cylinder delivers its linear power and sound track, only a 6 gives you that, but yes the power (helped big time by turbo) is impressive with so many 4 pots now, hope all goes well, look after your health, we can wait !!!
Another solid video, Phil. Just straight to the point with everything! We specifically produce LEDs for auto. Can we invite you to do a review for our product? We have emailed for an inquiry.
Thanks so much for the kind comment! I am interested in LEDs but would have to look at which cars in my fleet they are suitable for. Also, I’m afraid I’m going to be out of action for a while, just had heart surgery and the recovery period is 8-12 weeks. I might start releasing content again soon but it will all be pre-recorded, so no new car work for a while I’m afraid 😟 thanks, Phil
@@ReviveMyRide No worries, we can talk by then
