  • Hey everyone, it's Sifu Keith here, and today's video is an essential part of our training series - mastering the transition from Pak Sao to Arm Drag. In this session, we'll be integrating techniques from our striking classes into our grappling repertoire. Let's break it down step by step:
Setting Up the Entry: Begin in an orthodox stance, mirroring your opponent. When they throw a jab, use subtle head movement to slip inside their range while simultaneously lifting your lead foot. This sets up the perfect angle for executing the Pak Sao.
Executing the Pak Sao: As you close the distance, use your lead hand to trap their jabbing arm, guiding it slightly off-center. Simultaneously, bring your other hand behind their arm to control their movement.
Transitioning to the Arm Drag: With your opponent's arm trapped, step behind them and initiate the Arm Drag motion. Maintain a firm grip on their arm as you pivot your body to create leverage.
Completing the Takedown: With precision timing, use your leverage to guide your opponent off balance, directing their momentum over your extended leg. This results in a controlled takedown, bringing them to the ground safely.
Adding Strikes (Optional): While the takedown itself can be decisive, you have the option to follow up with strikes such as knees or elbows, depending on the context of the situation.
Practice and Progression: Start with slow, deliberate movements, focusing on technique and fluidity. As you gain confidence, gradually increase the speed and intensity of your drills.
Remember, these techniques are adaptable and can be tailored to suit various scenarios. Whether you're training for self-defense or competition, mastering the Pak Sao to Arm Drag transition can significantly enhance your grappling skillset.

Look, man… it works, it just takes a lot of time and your body has to be deeply conditioned or else it’s at best 30% effective. Just like boxing.

It doesn't work for you because you lack understanding. The rest of us it works for.
