  • This is an English grammar lesson which explains adjectives ending in ING and ED.
They are also known as participle adjectives.
Here is what you will learn during this lesson:
The origin of both types and the form.
The meaning and use of -ing and -ed adjectives.
    The most common examples.
-ing adjectives are in fact the present participle form of the verb and the -ed adjective is the past participle.
The adjectives that cause confusion for students are the ones that describe feelings and emotion. They cause confusion because both types can be used to describe people but the meaning is very different.
    Common examples are:
    interesting vs interested
    boring vs bored
    exciting vs excited
There are many more examples in this video.
There are some English grammar exercises at the end of the video to test your understanding.
Here are some other videos to improve your English:
Prepositions of place: • Prepositions of place ...
Adverbs of frequency: • Adverbs of frequency |...

Your method of teaching, in my opinion, is superior over the most of video I have seen so far. As a non-English speaking individual, your explanation make so much sense.

I realized with your video that Its more easy to spanish speakers to choose betwen ing/ed form by asking themself the correct use of the verb to be in spanish, ser/estar, if something/someone es so we use "ing", but if something esta so we use "ed".
    Thanks a lot.

May I ask for your help about the adjectives not related to feeling? I always have trouble working on these questions. Is there any tips on recognizing and improving my grammar in this subject? I'm about to have a TOEIC test soon and these kind of questions cost me lots of points.
    For example: featuring/featured collection.
