This is the module to get for your e-kit if acoustic drums is not an option. you scarifice a lot playing on e-kits instead of acoustic, but this module makes up for it, or almost. module manufacturers finally starting to get there, what drummers looking for

    Hey Justin , thank you for all you unbiased information. You are doing a great job and comparing pros and cons for different topics . I wanted to ask your opinion, I am a worship leader at my church and we are looking to eventually get a new drum set up. We are using the Roland td10 I think. I I believe it’s a little out dated and some of the triggers are messed up. We are running it through a Yamaha head. My sound guy wants to have multiple outputs for each drum so when I was considering the Roland td25kv which I thought was the best bang for the buck, I realized it only had stereo out. So then I priced how much it would be if we got the Roland td25kv and sold the head and got the pearl mimic . I heard several samples of the mimic and i think it sounds amazing. So this option would cost about 3500 after selling the Roland head and purchasing the mimic. I can also find a set to play at many guitar centers without the pearl head though. The other option would be to convert our acoustic drum set to a hybrid . It’s not a nice drum set , but with the 80-90 dollar triggers you mentioned in a video , and some nice symbols which I think would run around 1000 and the pearl mimic head piece I’m thinking the cost would be almost the same either was. The look and feel of the acoustic drum set with the Roland meshed heads would be awesome , but do the triggers respond the same as a full electric kit. Would you know how the sound would compare? Any ideas or thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. God bless.
    Chais

    Hello Justin! Big fan of your videos, once I have a doubt on something I check them out and I always find an answer.
    Unfortunately this is not the case, so I have a question for you: do this module support the Roland RT30 triggers? I don't see them listed in the trigger list you open on the PMP.
    Thank you so much!

    • @65Drums
      @65Drums  4 года назад

      Yes this module works with almost anything, there's probably no trigger preset made for the RT30 yet, but that just means you'll have to manual set it up yourself in the settings. It'll work

    Justin, been watching your videos for a long time. As a person who dabbles in drums.. I typically use a TR8s drum machine but I am looking for a sample multipad to be able to work out fills and other musical ideas on the fly as the TR8s is playing the basic beat. Could you do a video that compares the various sample pad's out there and make a recommendation? It wont be used live, just for songwriting purposes. I need at least 6 decent size pads but more is welcome and budget is < $600. I'm not opposed to used gear. Just something I can work out ideas on with great sample playback capability. Thx!

    Hey Justin, can you comment on the positional sensing and interval control that Roland has. I get the impression it is missing on the Mimic? Is that a big problem in your opinion in terms of machine gunning and overall nuance and feel, particularly on the snare?

    • @65Drums
      @65Drums  5 лет назад

      Roland patented it, so that's why no one else has it (yet, the patent is about to expire soon). I don't really care about it to be honest. I think that feature is nice to have, but is over-hyped.

      @M Kvex is also for td50, only thing I like about the mimic is the sounds, what I dislike about the mimic is the UI and the fact it's all screen, the roland screen is small but it's UI is not as hostile as some suggest, I've had mine a few weeks now and I'm working with vex sounds and layering my own in etc and getting really good results from it.

      @@MrMikeydrum You can click one area and use the dial button to change value, no need all touchscreen all the time.I used Roland flagship before for 15 years, the interface touch is so much easier and faster, less pain on finger tap, quicker, less eyes pain, it's just psychological things. The sound on Roland are ok, but nothing as vst quality.

      Well the problem is that when you charge $2000 for a drum module, people expect lots of features. So the drum company puts lots of features in the module. But then it's harder to understand how to use because of that. It''s a catch 22

    Hey Justin, I don't know if you'll ever see this but I would like your opinion. I have a dtx430k and I feel I've out grown it as far as skill and physical size(I'm 6'0ft) although I've never actually had a lesson. The pads and module are very limited as you know, mainly the snare and symbols. I like mesh pads but I think id prefer yamaha's silicon pads since I'm used to hard rubber. I'm 16 and money in my family is kind of tight and I'm not looking to spend more than $1500. What would you recommend? Also I would like a double bass pedal but don't know what is good yet reasonable in price. Thanks

  • @timpedzinski230
    @timpedzinski230 5 лет назад

    WOW! Thank you Justin for that. It was just what I needed. My church just upgraded from a TD-20 and since I don't have hours to spend at the church just experimenting it has been a little tough to get things set up the way we want them. At least now I have a better idea of where all the adjustments are. One problem I have been having is the center of the snare seams very sensitive. A center hit will give a very loud crack while an off center hit is so soft it is barely audible. Our sound tec told me I am peeking with the center hit so he has to pull the gain down on the board but that causes him to loose ghost hits. Would adjusting the velocity curve fix the problem? Or might it be something to do with the rimshot threshold?
    I'll be glad when the new update hits the public. Our Mimic came with the first update installed but I could see things in the video that are not on ours yet. I also wish there was a speed control on RUclips. Some times you talk so fast it's like taking a sip from a fire hose. Lol! But I know you are just trying to keep the length to a reasonable time.

    • @Chrisloft
      @Chrisloft 5 лет назад +1

      it sound like hotspot center cone, make sure when you do input gain low as possible that capture ghost note sound stick hit, and do capture top velocity, hit in dead center in cone area, loud as possible 5 time hit then store.

    • @johncallegari2721
      @johncallegari2721 5 лет назад +1

      Not the module... it's the pad. Hot spotting is a symptom of pads with center cones like Roland pads. Tune the mesh head tight, adjust the center-piezo settings and adjust the velo-curve.
