The HOTSPOTLESS drum kit looks really good. I bought a diablo this time because of the size issue, but when I buy a house with a soundproof room, I want to use the Pro series for the ultimate electronic drums. Do you recommend Mimic Pro as best sound module for Pro Series?
That snare and the 16" Floor Tom is making me want to put my VAD 506 shells on the market. Ok, maybe keep the Roland digital snare for the Cross Stick 🤔 Unless I moved to a PMP module...
The 1:31(cross stick) is not working great on my Pro 3 snare with my Mimic Pro. I've downloaded, installed and selected the Pro 3 trigger preset for Mimic Pro, but still there are multiple places in the x stick that end up triggering the head instead. I've tried adjusting head/rim, but I feel I end some fine nuances. Can you share what were the settings in Mimic Pro, so I can narrow down if it's a matter of settings or if I have a defective unit?
About to bite the bullet on the Mimic.. Does anyone happen to know if the cymbals on the Mimic can be routed to say only 3 outputs? For instance, hi-hats, ride and overheads? I like to route all my "mics" to the board and I think I only have about 9 spare channels on our desk but user guide not completely clear.
All kits sound great, but the hot chilli (and the way it was presented!) is top notch for me :-) Wonder what kind of trickery has been used to remove hot spotting...
Thank you Piotr! In the intro you'll see pictures of the new snare & tom trigger systems, there are several piezos now instead of one in the middle. Roland & ATV have also used trigger systems in that style in the past to avoid center hotspotting, you can find more technical info on the pro 3 series here if you like: drum-tec-series.de/pro/en/ Kind regards!
Hey Justin, you can get all the separate components and/or any custom kit configuration from www.drum-tec.com, feel free to get in touch through experts@drum-tec.de at any time for further assistance. Kind regards!
Great video. However, this seems to be showcasing the Pearl Mimic Pro's sounds rather than the functionality of your flagship kit itself. I agree with Cem Güler that you should show, in greater detail than this video, how the drums perform regarding positional sensing, no hot spots, rim shots, rim clicks, and cross sticks. Ralf does a bit of this at the start of the video, but it would be even better to do a side by side comparison to a Roland pad, for example, including the PD140DS. Is that something you could do for us very interested potential buyers? FWIW, I live close to DrumCenterNH and will check them out in person. Thanks for establishing this USA distributor/dealer. They are a very good choice.
Hey John, being able to play an e-kit kit in the most dynamic & musical way actually is functionality to me, maybe even THE most important thing besides the physical playing feel (which you unfortunately can't show in a video but have to experience for yourself). Hotspotting is a phenomenon, that I actually find really hard to demonstrate, as you'll rather "feel" dynamic peaks when you hit certain areas of a pad's head in certain dynamics. I actually tried to do a comparison with PD-140DS on TD-27 module some time ago as neutral as possible: ruclips.net/video/V72n8YUFDaQ/видео.html These were the older pro series trigger systems, and even with those I didn't personally experience any hotspotting issues honestly. You'll find more technical info on pro 3 over here if you like: drum-tec-series.de/pro/en/ Finally you mentioned having the possibility to test the pads at DC Portsmouth, and I highly recommend that! Sitting down at the kit & just trying the pads for a few minutes will tell you so much more than any video and/or spoken words really :) Enjoy & kind regards! Ralf
Agreed. There’s far too much reverb (and I’m guessing a lot of post processing?) on all the playing examples to hear how effective the triggering is. I couldn’t really hear much of a difference during the “positional sensing” isolated snare either. All of your demos, even with entry level kits sound amazing though. I think the drummers talent matters a whole lot more!
@@drumtecTV Thanks Ralf, for that thorough reply. I've reached out to Shane and the team at DC Portsmouth to see when they'll have a kit on the showroom to demo. I'm really loving that blue fade!

Hi, it depends what you are going for primarily. If you need a Kit to play live on stage & have great authentic Rock/Pop sounds, then the Mimic fits the bill perfectly. If you're using the kit at home / in the studio only, then I'd always get the Roland with digital pads for outstanding feel & playability (VH-14D & CY-18D are awesome) and use Slate/Toontrack libraries on the computer / laptop. Also TD-50X has nice onboard sounds when needing a big variety of sounds for various genres (f.e. live cover band stuff). The TD-50X might sound less "authentic" than a multilayer sample library of course, yet it will work well for various genres like pop, electronic, dance, charts stuff etc. I personally like all available modules for what they are :) Mimic for Rock/Live, TD-50X for all mentioned above, EFNOTE for vintage-y & very pure rock/pop/funk stuff. Hope that helps a bit! Kind regards, R
@@drumtecTV Cheers! Making sure I can easily swap between modules later, so ATV hats would make the most sense? Is it really a big difference between VH-14D and ATV hihats? What about the midi triggering? similar?
@@PG-yh5mk I prefer VH-14D by far, although ATV also works well, but it feels rather hard and also is the loudest hi hat actually. @@drumtecTV I had a diabolo snare with a single centre-cone design and a bunch of roland pads with the same design and hated all of them. The centre hotspot has never been acceptable to me and most manufacturers have abandoned this design for a while now. Good to see drum-tec coming up with new trigger designs too.
