    Boom, and they're gone already... The first batch is sold out even though the pedal just got released. In case you wanna grab one I suggest being fast. Those few pieces worldwide (afaik 1000) are gonna be sold really fast apparently.
    Cheers and enjoy the video!
    EDIT: that’s it, the pedal is completely sold out. All that they can build are gone in 2 days. Jeez.

    I tend to like germanium-based pedals. I don’t know the tech, but I think I hear the difference on the top end-just a little more ‘presence?’ Something like the sweet, delicate treble on a germanium fuzz vs silicon when the guitar volume is rolled down a little? I bought the Tumnus Deluxe semi-recently, and only more recently discovered how much I like it. This, after not getting much use out of a Decibelics and a Zeus. Brian Wampler’s pedals sound amazing into Fender amps.

    • @DM-kv9kj
      @DM-kv9kj Год назад

      There is definitely a difference. It's subtle and only really makes itself truly noticeable when you push the pedal through a good, transparent tube amp at volume and move some air. These vintage germanium diodes give slightly thicker, richer dynamics to the subtlety of the distortion. Kids watching others play them in their bedroom through a laptop, processed via youtube will not hear much difference and do not understand proper audio quality anyway.

    • @CentaurusRelax314
      @CentaurusRelax314 Год назад

      @@DM-kv9kj Well, you got *part* of that right. I'll try to ignore the dismissive/insulting/reductive/pontificating BS....
      You don't need a tube amp. Differences are perfectly represented through modeling/profiling, and you don't need to have it at stage volume, either. Whether i ran them through a '68 Fender Deluxe Reverb or a Kemper Stage, or Tonocracy, or ToneX-all at "bedroom" volume, differences in germanium vs other circuits are apparent. I'm a 56-year old "kid," i guess, and a MacBook Air with ToneX doesn't mean i don't understand/can't hear "proper audio quality." I actually get the sense that something like my iPad accentuates certain nuances, and i have surprising 'luck' identifying variables with that, often versus studio monitors. Go figure. [If youtube compression is such a bear, why are you even here? And opining so vigorously?]

    • @DM-kv9kj
      @DM-kv9kj Год назад +3

      @@ABCDEF-ks5op Pretty much yeah, but you really can hear the difference in person when pushing the pedal through a good tube amp. I just have the old regular Tumnus which is fine for my needs, but compared them with my mate who has the germanium. Subtle differences in dynamics and how they interact with a given amp and speakers are never going to be heard through a youtube video. The germanium diodes give a slightly thicker clarity to the mid range, and when you're actually driving it through a responsive amp and moving air, you can hear and feel the difference unless you're half deaf.

    Kris, you - and Thomann - should have a workaround offering addional files for comparison reasons since youtube's compression on audio files make it all nonsense.
    When you play the pedals, amps, guitars at home and rehearsals they sound totally different.
    Also, it's all hyped ;-) and Ge-diodes aren't expensive and that rare.

      The problem is, that the whole industry was focused on making them in the 60s... and they require precision, and don't lend themselves to automation... so likely the new ones would suck. Lol. The good news is that they are all over the place in broken audio stuff from the era. .

      Buying a pedal never stopped anyone from practicing. “New toys?” Do you not use pedals? At some point, everything you own was a “new toy.” People are “going crazy” because it’s a new pedal release; it’s the first klone to use the original diodes that were supposedly unavailable-the most discussed pedal/type over the past couple of decades; and because it’s a limited release. Are you new to the internet? Kinda wondering why you’re here, on a gear platform, taking time to post an illogical “rant,” when you should be practicing more. Or, perhaps you’re already as good as you wanna be? 😊 Rant over.
