I love how this is more than just a final fantasy song, it's also a statement of the state of society - The Red mage is insecure, and in his pursuit to become successful, he learned a lot of skills - none of which he's managed to master. - The White mage is the most essential part of the team as a Healer, but still doesn't get the respect she deserves from her male counterparts - The Black mage suffers the racial stereotype of the "Scary black man" with using the stereotypically evil dark magic, when in reality all he wants is to be loved and included by his team members. - The fighter being disregarded completely for having a different opinion about battle, and not being the sharpest sword on the rack. (with possibly a dysfunction?) I love this song.
I love everything about this song. The fact that it's about the mages, the lyrics, and, especially, the instrumentation. That Ska/Reggae beat with a splash of Rap, I can't stop listening on repeat

Josh Fox so much gils that could've been used in better equipment..! Plus, the grinding.... The hardest is 4 white mages though. But in the end...."HOLY FLARE TO Y'ALL MOTHAFUCKAAAAS"
Teamflare Grunt Well yeah but once the fighters become knights, they can heal themselves. Plus, the 4 Fighters strategy is to kill everything before they take any damage in the first place, which they do very effectively.
Issun McGoodmage Yeah but their white magic skills can't get much on a higher level than Cure2. And even if they quite do kill rapidly their foes,on bosses that's another trick, same for some creatures that are immune to physical damages.
I'm gonna say it: This is probably Brent's best work. He's characterizing the games and the mages just perfectly and the video itself is outstanding and the video so memorable and cool. It deserved the clicks of the Ocarina of Time video or the Yoshi's Island video.
maybe its because i have headphones on this time that i notice this but the red mage and the white mage at the end their voices come from the opposite side of there they are, still a good song even in 2022 though so that's a plus
PURE NOSTALGIA ASSAULT. I used to play this at my grandmother's house with my uncle. Finally beat it on the Virtual Console not too long ago. Man, so many memories of a much better era.
One thing i like about this song is the speed of each class when they sing all at once at the end, redmage is the fastest because versatility brings fastes word due to swordplay and magick always being switching, whitemage mid speed due to constantly being on their toes to heal when needed and blackmage is the slowest to focus on his slower but strongest spells. Fits the ffxiv class too xD
Considering current FF titles, I love all the mages. Reds for that sweet doublecast magic, despite their lack of upper tier spells, but sometimes versatility and resourcefulness will come out on top more often. Black mages have a good sweet of options, ranging from status ailment spells such as frog, poison, and sleep, to the most damaging spells in the game such as Fire-Firaja, Ultima, and Flare. White magic is by far the lifeblood of any team, as they exist to keep the party alive, which usually comes in the form of Esuna, which can heal most types of status ailments, and Cure-Curaja, the traditional HP restoring spell. Blue mage are basically monster skill users, and that can be useful, especially if you can learn the Malboro's Bad Breath skill, which can potentially give every status ailment of the game onto a single target.
Red still has a major problem, even if it's still my favourite mage colour and an absolute beast on the NES: Dualcast is one of its equipped abilities. A few friends back in high school had a nasty habit of grinding R.MAG purely to unlock Dualcast, then switching to White, Black or Time. ...We sorely underestimated Blue back then. I will also readily admit that I don't bother with White most of the time -- They fix the party up good, but when I'm sitting on a backpack full of healing items, I don't see the point in bringing along someone with a pea-shooter and a back of Band-Aids. When there's nobody who needs healed or buffed, White is mostly dead weight, and if somebody _does_ need healed, Fighter or Dragoon can take a minute a throw down some X-Potions, while if somebody needs buffed, Summoner can call up Carbuncle.
When I first played through Final Fantasy, I was surprised at how useful the White Mage was; both in healing magic and in combating undead foes. Based on what I'd heard, I expected her to have _no_ offensive capabilities. She is _definitely_ one of the most important party members.

Wot, du hier? :D
The rap is pretty generic lol. I thought Brent was the best.
I thought white mage was the worst
Ain't it at least 2 thirds Brent though?
Brent was the best part, hands down, the rap was pretty average. singing takes alot more then simply talking.
Little do we know the Blue Mage is just peachy with his lot, he channeled the Chocobo for a bit and knows there's suckier roles in the party.
White mage can solo the game by herself easier than most of the others without even grinding; her hammer is no joke if you can’t even hurt her
Too bad that silence doesn't work on all bosses, plus you can't really wittle chaos down considering his CUR4 cycle
The red mage...
Too real bro, too real.
I haven’t listened to this song in maybe 7 years but I booted it up and i snag the entire song without fail
no, i'm not crying over a 10yo video that i watched live as an 11 year old
also holy shit i just realized the black mage is Mega Ran that's insane
AKA The Muppet Show: Final Fantasy edition
Dohiwario Or just put Muppets in Kingdom Hearts, even if it couldn't work.
Sora Song Maybe if they run out of ideas for Kingdom Hearts.
Dohiwario How about a world like 100 acre woods that doesn't suck huge balls?
Sam Morin I would like that very much.
Puppet fantasy. That would be something.
I love this madrigal and keep coming back every time I get it stuck in my head.
I would love to see these characters again
"I am your equal - what a silly notion!" Well, considering if you don't roll a white mage...yeah you're equally @#$%ed without the powerful healer.
keikoandgilly I played the first FF with 4 warriors and a boat load of potions.
Josh Fox so much gils that could've been used in better equipment..! Plus, the grinding....
The hardest is 4 white mages though. But in the end...."HOLY FLARE TO Y'ALL MOTHAFUCKAAAAS"
"So try to keep in mind, that without me you are so screwed"
- White Mage
You're just fantastic. One of your best right here.
daym black mage spitting some firaga up In the dizzle.
Please, stop.
He aint wrong tho
maybe its because i have headphones on this time that i notice this but the red mage and the white mage at the end their voices come from the opposite side of there they are, still a good song even in 2022 though so that's a plus
You honestly deserve so much more recognition. Good job!
I am the Red Mage -- a Jack of All Trades but the master of zero . . .
PURE NOSTALGIA ASSAULT. I used to play this at my grandmother's house with my uncle. Finally beat it on the Virtual Console not too long ago. Man, so many memories of a much better era.
this deserves an Emmy(most of your songs do)
You mean Grammy, right?
Albino Bob
Oh fuck me I knew I'd be corrected.
still of the best song brentalfloss has created!
They did my boy Monk dirty, his Fist Magic is the most consistent single target damage.
Im an independant black mage who dont need no mana
wouldn't it make more sense to be "strength" instead of mana?
I don't get it.
plooblemore because in the game he would need mana, and not strength
:)
plooblemore Also, in FF1 spells were not based on mana or MP
Federico Porcel It was intelligence, ya?
Black Mage is my favorite mage.
same
same
Das racist
Mr. Loowiz ... how?
x2gameing i love BLACK MAGE
Still to this day one of the best songs ever released on this channel; mad props!

''Healer Down! Need a Ress! Out of Mana! AHHH!! AHHH!! AHHHH!!''
Captain Dorgengoa
+100 points XD
+Captain Dorgengoa goku gives sensu bean to gohan, it acts like a mega Phoenix down
SENSU BEAN! I mean PHEONIX DOWN!
Sepheroth: That's cute
This needs a followup where the Warrior now Paladin sings.
Best song ever
The white is has a great singing voice during the chorus
One thing i like about this song is the speed of each class when they sing all at once at the end, redmage is the fastest because versatility brings fastes word due to swordplay and magick always being switching, whitemage mid speed due to constantly being on their toes to heal when needed and blackmage is the slowest to focus on his slower but strongest spells. Fits the ffxiv class too xD
I love how half of the comments section doesn't notice that this is based off ff1
And I love it how you think 10% is half of 100%.
@@Superdarkcloud666 I mean you're right, it's crazy what 6 years does to your sense of percentages
The message in the end of the video, I love it!!!!
2019 and the song is still awesome :D
My favorite brentalfloss song, and im not even a huge final fantasy fan.
Never actually play final fantasy but love this song brentalfloss
This is very cute.
Only 32 million more views to go till this becomes your most viewed video. My work is cut out for me.
i just love the stereo at the end
When I first played through Final Fantasy, I was surprised at how useful the White Mage was; both in healing magic and in combating undead foes. Based on what I'd heard, I expected her to have _no_ offensive capabilities. She is _definitely_ one of the most important party members.
White mage's hair gets more messed up as the video progresses.
That was beautiful. Loved the black mage part
And once again, the blue mage is snubbed.
Didn't exist yet
There were 6 classes in the OG
