It's incredible how deep the lore in this song goes. I think I can speak for everyone in this comment section when I say, emphatically, please play Mass Effect. It's something everyone should experience at least once.
Oh this was good. More than anything I can't wait to see the cast's reaction when it reaches them- I just can't see a world where they don't appreciate this as much as we all do.
The thing that delights me most about this functional easter egg from the game is that, per canon, *nobody in Mass Effect learns other languages normally*. It’s all translators that work really well, albeit imperfectly on rare occasion. Which means one of two things: 1. Somehow Gilbert and Sullivan translate *perfectly*, down to the syllables, into a language developed by a completely separate evolutionary tree. 2. Mordin went out of his way as an already short-lived species to learn English so well that he can sing a G&S homage/parody perfectly off-the-cuff like this.
Loved animating for this! The song is so good 😁😁😁 also really glad you released a month early! 🎉🎉🎉

His Ego is so dense, it causes the Mass Effect Phenomenon.
I have wanted a full Scientist Salarian song for literal years. This is great!
What? Will Roland AND Mass Effect? What an excellent day.
This video is my 8-month-old's favorite thing in the world right now. He lights up when he hears the opening notes and starts grinning madly when the vocals start.
This is about 10 years late...but I couldn't be happier it's finally here.
The person who originated Jared Kleinmann in Dear Evan Hansen singing about a Mass Effect character as a parody of Modern Major General. I love when my fandoms overlap ❤
I was amazed at the _initial_ tempo, considering the amount of "unique" words to internalize. But the last minute was insane!!! Bravissimo to all, including the lyricist. (And thanks greatly for the subtitles...).
Every time I play ME2 I have Mordin sing this multiple times just because it makes me smile so much. And now to have the full version? I'm gonna need a grinectomy. Thank you very much.
"In matters combat tactical and physics theoretical, I am the very model of a modern Major General" - Freeman's Mind
"My actuary tables say I'll live just half a century"
If only we'd been so blessed.
Never before have I needed something so desperately and never known until I received it.
Soooo Nerdy and Soooo cool ... LOVE IT!!!!
"It had to be done rightly and so he's the one it had to be."
Ohhh.. that hurts.
"My soil science would suffice to make Tuchanka arable" now that's a bar 😂😂👏 he delivers it masterfully
This song is just fantastic! The story of how it came to be is almost unbelievable, but the internet can be a wonderful place sometimes 😊
just the hold on araaaaaaaaabbbblllleeeeeeee chefs kiss
“My work’s more highly cited than a Krogan on Presidium” I’m sure that Krogan has been cited a _lot_ …by C-Sec!
He sings while playing on a switch
@@LoneWolf_432 he holds the line on arable, while playing on a steamdeck, his very own scene.
that's a power move.
@@beowolf83 lol indeed he is
We do not deserve this G&S parody at all. Fantastic work from everyone on this, incredible arranging Charlie! Will was incredible as always. Thank you so much for your incredible arrangements and for renewing people's love of video game music - LONG LIVE VIDEO GAME MUSIC!
This is such a specific cross between Pirates of Penzance and Mass Effect that I’m so glad I know and understand
Full length Mass Effect opera suit confirmed.
I have never heard this before. But it makes sense mordin is singing this, or at least a sound alike. He manages to make his ego tolerable
I’m glad you were impatient, because this is amazing. Will’s breath control is out of this world. The band looks and sounds outstanding. I really hope you post more behind the scenes footage like you have been on Instagram.
Theres something just FUCKING AMAZING that Mass Effect this amazing little trilogy still has a fanbase making incredible content for it decades.
The grin the singer had throughout made this all the better.
Matched the one the listeners get--after we pick up our jaws from the floor, of course.
Guys! This is unreal...! Tears came to my eyes while I was continously smiling. I just can't believe that this performance with so much talent, humor and intelligence does actually exists. AMAZING! ✨
I am so glad I live on an earth where the people who love this as much as I do actually get together and make such an amazing masterpiece.
Thank you. This feels... Right.
I adore the small interjections that suggest he's literally making up the lyrics as he goes.
This was incredible! Cheers to the animator who came up with all the whiteboard artwork! 😂
😁😁😁
@@JavaDoodles Next time try to actually match the beat. The animation is about one beat every twelve-ish fast.
"My works are cited more than a Korgan on the Presidium..." Ouch, well played.
Tunes of Gilbert & Sullivan shall ring throughout the ages... in one form or the other.
This is amazing!
But also, congrats on your latest Tony Award! 🎉🎉
Thank you!!
I am incredibly impressed that all the vocalists pronounced everything so perfectly
I absolutely love the rhyme-finding bits. Great in the original, but perfectly updated to fit his personality and the new lyrics of the song.
This Will Roland guy is phenomenal!
Since I first played Mass Effect 2 (and being a bit of a musical theatre performer myself) I have ALWAYS wanted a complete version of this, and you went above and beyond! Congratulations to all involved, but especially your talented vocalist, for rapidly firing out phrases lesser beings might have found.. problematic.
Had to be you. Someone else might have gotten it wrong!
.. Now, where did I put those seashells?
This deserves the highest musical awards!
a year late, but i had so much fun listening to this
I'm replaying Mass Effect 2 and mentioned this to my friend. Tonight, as I was working on the very mission to retrieve Mordin, I get a text from him linking this video. That's video game magic right there.
Incredibly well put together, this was such a treat to experience. Thank you!!!
I still cannot believe this in this game, this is absolutely ridiculous.
My favorite bit of this game.
Truly one of the most fun and memorable "easter eggs" found in any game, I was delighted when Mordin began singing, and I've gone back over it a number of times just to make sure I got all of the lyrics. THANK YOU so much for putting the lyrics on-screen for the performance!
Bravo, my friends. Bra-vo.
I am sad I can only upvote this once.
"It had to be done rightly and so I'm the one it had to be!"
And riiiight for the gut-punch. That's beautiful. Also it appears to be raining and I need to wipe my eyes.
Will Roland is exceptionally talented. I saw him in 2019 in Be More Chill. Absolute monster when it comes to breath control. 👏🏽
I can't believe somebody wrote the whole parody, that's amazing. And Y'all are amazing for performing it! Everyone did a great job, as always.
You people don't miss, I swear.
I'm glad that Roland was the one to sing this. Had to be him. Someone else might have gotten it wrong.
This is just...a triumph. My goodness. My GOODNESS.
“I’ll toxify my enemies with nary an apology” the salarians included a line about the genophage in a cover of a human song 💀💀💀
I am unable to give this the amount of likes/loves that it deserves. Well done. This needs to be in his eulogy.
"I dont begrudge the quarians, their hypochondriactery "
I've never even played any of the Mass Effect games, and I think I've listened to this three dozen times. Well done!
Oh, play them.
I think I can speak for everyone in this comment section when I say, emphatically, please play Mass Effect. It's something everyone should experience at least once.
I'm so glad there was enough Interest to make a full version of this 😆😆
Oh this was good.
More than anything I can't wait to see the cast's reaction when it reaches them- I just can't see a world where they don't appreciate this as much as we all do.
all of this just to end on a half rhyme lolll
loved it
The thing that delights me most about this functional easter egg from the game is that, per canon, *nobody in Mass Effect learns other languages normally*.
It’s all translators that work really well, albeit imperfectly on rare occasion.
Which means one of two things:
Well, he IS the very model of a scientist Salarian.
10/10 this is the best im gonna go play the trilogy again.
MAN I just wanna give this three-to-five thumbs up... I always loved that skit in ME2, seeing it expanded into a full-length song is just *marvelous!*
This is DEFINITELY getting played on the drive to work
Right in the feels. You can feel the love of the character and lore. 10/10, will listen to on repeat.
