My quilting friend one day said she quilts by the 15-45 method. She explained, “I set the timer for 45 minutes of sewing, then when it goes off I do 15 minutes of housework)emptying dishwasher, folding laundry, etc). Then I feel good because by the end of the day I get a lot of sewing done and some housework done too!”❤

@@debbiebraatz1919 I’ve never set a timer, but this is a great idea! It also makes you get up & stretch a bit & even take a break!

Good job of getting so much crossed off your list. I have to make lists too, just so I can feel like I am getting something done and stay focused. My mind seems to never want to shut down thinking about things to make, so lists help me stay focused. I had watched the acorn potholder video and have made some of them, I like the look of them being quilted, but it does make them flat...lol

New sub referred by Tracy! I’m sampling a bunch of videos since I can’t sleep. The retreat sounds amazing and I hope it is a huge success.
3M Scotchgard would help get the dust off anything you put in an overhead bin. Spraying the bag after sewing is best according to my friend who worked on the Scotchgard team at 3M. Please spray either outdoors or in an area with excellent ventilation to protect your lungs if you use it.

When I started having so many WIPs in different stages, I started putting them in One Note on my Ipad. I refer to it almost every day when I am sewing. It is not as detailed as your list. I may have to revise my ways. I put in it, the fabric I have and the fabric I need to complete projects as well as how many strips, or how much batting. I also mark if I have the items I need so if I am trying to complete something on my list, I skip the ones that need something in order to complete. My list of WIPs to quilt is way too long. I really must take a weekend and knock them out. :)

About washing the quilt: I did not know that you have to use so many sheets of color catcher. Thank you for the info.
And by the way, if you use wool batting, how do you set your washing machine ? Cold water ? Doesn’t the batting shrink more than the top
    And backing ?
What about drying machine setting ?
Thank you much for all the info.

I always wash my quilts in cold water. Spin and dry them in the dryer. They come out beautifully. I really like the crinkly effect that comes from the batting and the fabric shrinking. Even with polyester batting, which sometimes I put in a quilt with cuddle backing, has a little bit of shrinkagefrom the fabrics. thanks for watching Gigi.😊♥️🐥

Love the nice weekend 'work off'. I've sewn for so many years, fashion first and piecing for 30. I've used the 10 20 30 method to get things done since our dearly departed friend Nancy Z shared the process over 30 yrs ago. I truly do need to word up or excel up? a printable listing page, as so very often my head turns to something else, even while I'm telling myself NO! Get this finished. OMG we are only human. BTW Quilted will keep them nicely together after many washings.

Your videos are always entertaining and informative. Thank you so much. I have made the burrito pillowcases. I should make a few more. The leaf table runner is so pretty. Glad you got so much accomplished.

On the acorn pot holders I would at least quilt along the acorn top near the seam. They are very cute! Nice bag!

❤your humor is awesome 🤩 the idea of making a list is amazing simple and practical. Genius idea 💡 you are so humble…so I’m rearranging my bedrooms, reassigning their purpose after my husband passed away August 20th!! My mind is scattered and today you have kinda Saved me from going crazy 😜 Thank you sew much. My sons want black/grey red?? modern quilts and I just can’t get creative with it. Just saying😇💎
Where do u get those cute timers?

Kimberly, I’m so sorry about losing your husband 😢I would start with a Google search for black grey red modern quilts for some ideas, patterns & fabrics. Giant HST’s with 10” squares are modern to me. Thanks for watching😊♥️🐥

I really enjoyed this video . I like to use the same type of list and tick off the " finishes" as I go. And on my current list are two pillow cases so I was so happy for the refresh on how to do them.

    Good morning Di,
I did watch the acorn potholder video, which was great. I like how you showed us how to read colors on your Gobble Gobble quilt( which is adorable).
I could not find the link to the acorn template and pattern instructions, is there a separate link I need to copy and paste or click on in bedded in the transcript? Thank you and if I missed the link I apologize. 😆🥰

I like the little round basket on your sewing table, is there a pattern? I guess it's a thread/bitty fabrics holder for your trash bin... it seems to stand up so well!

A friend made it for me. It’s lined with a heavy canvas that is why it stands up so well. I love it and I’m sorry I don’t have a pattern for it. I hope the heavy canvas helps you though. Thanks for watching 👍🏼♥️😊🐥

Been cold here in the Central Valley too. There have already been chain restrictions on I-80. Wish I could send you some of my heat. I am still sleeping with the window wide open with just one cotton blanket on the bed. The acorn potholders are so cute. I use old wool socks in mine. I think my daughter needs a pair.

There is a link for the template under this video. If it’s gone, because it was over 2 years ago, it’s pretty easy to draw your own. The video is helpful. TFW😊♥️🐥

I like the potholders either way. Do they have some sort of insulate in them. Also, although I have made pillowcases, I haven’t used the technique you described. I wish you would have shown how to do it rather than just saying you have all done this and moving on. Nice video.
