I bought a queen size flannel sheet and stapled it to the wall with an ordinary stapler. I put the staples fairly close together. It works great as a design wall and is huge.
I bought a large table pad from Bed, Bath & Beyond and attached to my wall. It has worked out really well. My blocks stay in place and makes it so easy to lay out my quilts. ❤
Thank you for these items I'm glad to hear about them. Btw as a beginner quilter I make a day of the week my ' clean bobbin compartment & change needle time'. ( Wash day Wednesday)😊
I am so grateful for your video. I have purchased the felt tiles. I've never seen pins with hooks and paperclips, so I will have a look at them. I already have the vacuum cleaner. I have the silicone brush to clean my machine. I saw you had one but didn't use it?. I already have the same guide, so I will put that on for the binding. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤🎉😊
What fun items! I bought the Juki LEFT compression foot for binding (I think that’s what it’s called). It makes sewing the final stitches on the front very easy and straight. You can look it up to see how it works, if you’re interested. But, it was pricey. I got it last year during Juki junkies holiday sale. I’ve never been sorry. The pad looks interesting too. I’d love to have the design wall, but I don’t have a wall for it! lol Thanks for a very informative video!
I find that a nice thick dish drying mat solved my noise and vibration issues but as im currently using the backside of a dollar tree table cloth for a design wall (works surprisingly well), I’m very intrigued with the foam wall you featured.
I've always used felt for my design wall. Craft felt at joanns is inexpensive and use your coupon. I then mounted the felt with spray glue onto a sheet of blue insulation (from Lowe's) it's sturdy and the sheet can be trimmed to your desired size.
Hi, I enjoy your channel. I am new to quilting and think i can make use of the binding seam guide, the sewing machine mat, the vacuum , and the binding guide. Thank you for bringing these tools to my attention
I found the Amazon Felt "Cork" as they call them as well!! LOVE them and they work amazingly. Have had them for about 2 months and no problems!! The only thing I did use was my own command strip adhesive as I already had some and knew that they would not damage the wall when I removed them. I can't say enough about these and they are just as pretty as the FeltRight regular blocks!
That is smart to use your own command strips! I used the ones that came with it and I noticed they dont have tabs to pull them off. If I remove them at some point I will be sure to update on that.
Pulling dust out is fine, blowing it in is the problem. My latest joy is a very small shop vac that I can use mini attachments with. I find I joyfully clean my machine every two to three bobbins. Thanks for the video. I love finding things that make my sewing life easier and more enjoyable.
@@sewbeitquilts I had a hand held battery operated vac and it was just an odd angle and didn't work well for me. My little shop vac is just behind and to the side of me so I just swivel and hit the button that is on the top. I made a bag for the little attachments if I want a different one than is on the hose. There is an adapter so the little attachments fit the two standard sizes of vacs that have a round hose. I do clean my machine more often now. The little attachments are only $8. I look forward to more of your finds.
I have the same mat, and also like it. A friend uses a piece of a yoga mat for each of her machines. I used to use a carpet sample, I think the mats are better.
M’y feeble brain seems to think Terry Rolland of TK studio made up something to pull the folded fabric through which worked really well. If someone on a tight budget would rather buy fabric with their money. Great fun seeing all your purchases thank you❤❤👏
Thank you for sharing all of your new purchases! I have a small hand held vacuum with attachments that are super tiny and they allow me to get into my machine and clean it more thoroughly along with the tiny long handled brush. I also have the seam guide which I absolutely love! I always struggled with my binding as well. Now, I don’t get nearly as stressed about my binding going wonky! Wonky blocks can be cute but wonky binding is not cute! I’m going to look at the flannel design boards and the 3rd hand! Those look like amazing finds! I love this video, so much really useful information! I’m happy they are Amazon finds! I’ve been trying to stay away from my local shop because I have zero self control!😂 Thanks again and I look forward to seeing what you have in store for us in the future!❤
I bought kaffe fassetts design wall fabric it cost just over £20 I attached it to calico and then used it to cover the front of my large kallux unit ( from IKEA) that I store my fabric in it keeps my fabric clean and out of light and works well as my design wall , as I too don’t have a wall to use. Like your purchases.
To clean my machine, I've been using disposable mascara brushes I found on Amazon. They are slightly flexible, the length is really good, and the diameter is small enough to fit into those tiny crevices.
I think the binding wheel is meant to hold the binding while you are sewing it on the quilt. You use the clamp to attach it by your sewing machine and it spins to release the binding as you sew.
I really would like to get that felt wall stuff. I’m like you that other felt stuff for your wall was way too expensive. I’m also interested in having one of those magnetic seam guides.
My husband used double sided tape to place a small three sided plastic box at just the right place for my foot control. It slips right in and I never need to chase it all over
I have the magnetic seam guide clip, I love works great especially on my Singer 220 machine. I purchased this about 10 months ago. It is go to seam guide. I would recommend for anyone who great seam guide.
The small vacuum should be okay--they just say not to blow into the machine. I like the mat for vibration. I take my machine to a church sewing group and those plastic tables are not the sturdiest for sewing. I've even had my screw-in spool holder work itself loose and fall off with the vibration!
Your Bernina walking foot likely came with 3 bases. One of them is for edge stitching- it has a little vertical piece that rides on the edge of the binding. I move the needle 4 clicks to the right and it sews a perfect straight line on the edge of the binding. (I hope that makes sense - it’s hard to describe)
Both my Babylock and Pfaff machines came with that foot with the fin on the bottom. The foot rides on the flat of the quilt body snugged up next to the binding with your needle moved over a few clicks to sew on the binding. Have you ever tried the faux piping binding? It takes a little more time to essentially make separate narrow long bindins of 2 fabrics then sew them together the whole length. And it’s not intuitive that the “piping” little bit which shows is the wider of the 2pieces, BUT it’s a lot easier to then topstitch it on top of that narrow piping than to keep a straight line on a single binding edge as you described.
A heavy duty yoga mat can be cut to size for use as a sewing machine mat and can be found at many discount stores. Even if it turns out to be roughly the same price, you now have enough for more than one machine. Sergers, overlockers, etc.
I say, if it works it works! I honestly just wrap my binding around itself! I make my own design boards to save money too. They arent as cute as store bought, but they sure do work!

exactly what I did
I bought a large table pad from Bed, Bath & Beyond and attached to my wall. It has worked out really well. My blocks stay in place and makes it so easy to lay out my quilts. ❤
That sounds great!
Hey, that is a great idea!

This is such a good plan!

What a fun video Fallon! Thanks for all the info.....my creative juices are flowing.
Everybody love shopping with Fallon!

I will have to look for that foot for my juki!
Left compensating foot. The BEST
Haha, I knew compression didn’t sound right. Thanks for helping me with that….compensating…yeah, that’s it!
What size compensating foot did you get?
@ there is only one size for the Juki TL machines, but there is a right side and a left side. There are some nice videos on them, if that would help.
I use the binding tool that you showed and will not use anything else now. LOVE it.
I thought I would probably like it from watching their video, but wow, it was even better than I hoped for!
I am definitely going to check out some of these products. I am always trying to do better. Thank you for showing them to us!!
I use a very large flannel back tablecloth for a design wall! I use command strips to hold it up. Works great - cost me zero $’s.

Thanks Fallon for showing these products and doing the testing.
You're welcome!
I bought that mat and really liked it I have all except the felt board
My husband made me one that I love
A good design wall is so so so helpful! That’s wonderful that your husband was able to make you a nice one!
Wow! Great ideas and products. I need to get some of these. Thank you, Fallon!
Thanks for watching Kris! The third hand binding tool is so so good!
Pipe cleaners are really good for getting into the bobbin area
Good to know! Thank you!
Hi, I enjoy your channel. I am new to quilting and think i can make use of the binding seam guide, the sewing machine mat, the vacuum , and the binding guide. Thank you for bringing these tools to my attention
I hope you have fun as you learn how to quilt! It is such a fun and rewarding hobby!
The binding attachment looks interesting. I I'm like the design wall also.
I am really loving the design wall! It is so pretty!

Not quilting related but... your skin looks AMAZING! It's practically glowing.
My hint for storing a binding is on tp or paper towel holder. You can cut to size, pin or clip fab. on it & it's crushable & free . Thanks Fallon🪡
Great idea!!
These are handy tools. I just went through your link and bought a couple. Thank you for sharing.
I hope you love them as much as I do!
Great finds!! Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤
Thank you so much 🤗
Thank you ❤

I bet a small shop vac works even better! Those are usually really strong!

I have the same seam guide, it’s fabulous for binding! ❤🤗
It worked really well!
I have the same mat, and also like it. A friend uses a piece of a yoga mat for each of her machines.
I used to use a carpet sample, I think the mats are better.
I bought the binding wheel, used it a few times at first and it has sat in a drawer for over 2 years now
It’s really cute and works well, I just don’t see myself using it long term. The piece for folding and ironing the binding is amazing though!
M’y feeble brain seems to think Terry Rolland of TK studio made up something to pull the folded fabric through which worked really well. If someone on a tight budget would rather buy fabric with their money. Great fun seeing all your purchases thank you❤❤👏
I will see if I can find it!
Thanks for sharing. That binding tool looks amazing.
Just ordered 2 of the items. Thanks
I hope you love them as much as I do!

The third hand is so so so good! I love it. I actually wanted to prep another binding just to use it again and that is so not like me at all!
Falen So sorry I spelled your name wrong. I loved all the tools you showed us. Great Job!!
Thank you!
What do you think about cordless mini irons?
I have a panasonic cordless and love it!
What a smart idea!
I always sew binding on with machine, both sides. But, I start on the front. Northern front always looks nice and even.
I havent tried it that way before.
Now I just need a free wall!
Can you please make a tutorial on how to use the binding tool. It looks intimidating
The third hand binding tool or the magnetic guide?
To clean my machine, I've been using disposable mascara brushes I found on Amazon. They are slightly flexible, the length is really good, and the diameter is small enough to fit into those tiny crevices.
Thanks for the tip!
I saw it on an I See Stars video and tried it. So glad I did!
I think the binding wheel is meant to hold the binding while you are sewing it on the quilt. You use the clamp to attach it by your sewing machine and it spins to release the binding as you sew.
I did set it next to me while I sewed the binding onto my quilt and it worked nicely.
I really would like to get that felt wall stuff. I’m like you that other felt stuff for your wall was way too expensive. I’m also interested in having one of those magnetic seam guides.
I really love them both! I put links to what I purchased in the description and it will show you other options as well!
I have a question. What can I get to stop my foot pedal from sliding away from me ?? Thanks for any suggestions.😊
Hi there. I have used the grippy shelf/drawer liners for that purpose.
I did see there are some foot pedal mats similar to the sewing machine mat I showed. They are supposed to keep the pedal from moving.
My husband used double sided tape to place a small three sided plastic box at just the right place for my foot control. It slips right in and I never need to chase it all over
Thanks, everybody. 😗
I have the magnetic seam guide clip, I love works great especially on my Singer 220 machine. I purchased this about 10 months ago. It is go to seam guide. I would recommend for anyone who great seam guide.
It works so good! I really love it!
I have the vacuum and love it!
It works so well and it is nice and light weight too.
That’s why I used fleece on my design boards.
The small vacuum should be okay--they just say not to blow into the machine. I like the mat for vibration. I take my machine to a church sewing group and those plastic tables are not the sturdiest for sewing. I've even had my screw-in spool holder work itself loose and fall off with the vibration!
A really sturdy table is on my list of items I want to purchase at some point.
Cover the design board with flannel!

I wind my binding around a paper towel roll and pin it with a straight pin.
Great idea!
I cut up a yoga may and use that for sewing machine mats. So for about 20 bucks I got 3-4 mats.
That’s so smart!
I buy pipe cleaners at the Dollar Tree to clean my machine. They are long and can get way down inside to get lots of dust bunny’s.
Great idea!!
Yippee
A heavy duty yoga mat can be cut to size for use as a sewing machine mat and can be found at many discount stores. Even if it turns out to be roughly the same price, you now have enough for more than one machine. Sergers, overlockers, etc.
This is such a great idea! Thank you!
Haha I use an empty toilet roll to hold my binding….the purple wheel looks a lot cuter 😂
I say, if it works it works! I honestly just wrap my binding around itself! I make my own design boards to save money too. They arent as cute as store bought, but they sure do work!
I use a paint brush.
Girls, yoga mat is solution…
Great tip!
Not gonna show us the wall?
I did show the wall. I put photos up on the screen.
Won't be buying the third hand binding tool as it is $86.04 on amazon in Canada. I use a flannel back table cloth for my design wall.
Wow! That is expensive.
Hi Is the felt thick enough to make an ironing pad?
