I just randomly stopped here today, having no idea what I was walking into. At first I thought it was a cult, then I thought it might be a billionaire utopia for after the apocalypse, then I thought it was a theme park. It was absolutely surreal. No main gate, no security, I just drove in and walked around like I belonged. I thought I might be kidnapped for a little bit though lol. This video doesn't even come close to showing the level of scale and detail. Highly recommend stopping by if you're ever in the area. Coolest thing I've ever "stumbled" upon.
I am an Epic employee - I can understand how you might not have correctly guessed what this facility was for if you wandered in by mistake. The newer buildings certainly look like a theme park!
I used to work here on the Horticulture team and it was beyond amazing! I would take my family there for tours. Not just the interior decor is incredible, the landscaping surrounding each building has some very unique features as well. I used to rake the "Zen Garden" by building K and had the pleasure of training the Ivy on the topiary elephants which are life size. This place is a hidden treasure in Wisconsin but what makes me love Epic so much is the owner Judy is so humble and would chat with us horticulturists in our dirty, sweaty work clothes 🤣
How did you end up working on the horticulture team? Did you need past experience in a similar field? Sounds amazing!
@@Liz-us8mf I was actually hired right out of college after receiving my bachelor's degree. The pay was great and the atmosphere was beyond beautiful 😍
My husband was recently hired as a data analyst on the EPIC team at one of the hospitals in NH. They sent him here for a week of training and he was blown away by the campus! He wishes he could’ve seen everything but it was in January and in the negatives most of the time!
Glad your husband was able to see Epic! Maybe next time you and him could visit when it's warmer.
I live in WI and take many out of state business guests to tour Epic. It's just plain fun. And as spectacular as it looks in the video, you'll be blown away when you see it in person. People can't believe a company has a campus like that outside of Silicon Valley....let alone in Wisconsin!
I use to work for a company that specialized in carnival arcade and inflatable bounce houses. And ever year this awesome company called us for a event and when I say they ordered almost everything I mean ever game ,inflatable ,yard games, we'd come out with 3 or 4 trucks packed also in tow we'd have a rock wall a mobile zip line and stunt jump. This place is sooo cool
I was trying to figure out why they didn't have any remote jobs posted. I did some googling and found this video. Thank you so much for making it. It looks like the founder basically made her own version of Disney World.
Do they have any remote positions available no? Or are positions still in person?
As far as I'm aware, they still do not have remote positions and they do not plan to have remote positions in the future. It's worth checking out the Epic career website if you haven't already, though: careers.epic.com/
I work remotely, and it has its advantages & disadvantages. I would be ready, willing and able to come into work everyday if it was like this.. I live 25 min from Epic Systems Headquarters in Middleton, WI, and it is It is VERY hard to get a job at Epic Systems.
Thank you so much for making this video! I'm a current Duke master's student interviewing for a TS position at Epic next week. Since the interview is going to be on Webex, I won't get a chance to come to Wisconsin and tour the campus myself. I really appreciate getting to see the campus through your eyes. Also, even though I'm interviewing for a different position that what you do, I really liked your day in the life video. It helped me get a feel for what it's like to actually work on this insane campus! So, thanks again, and hopefully one day I'll run into you at Epic! :)
how did your interview go?
Hope your interview process went well!
@@dennisling thanks! I start work Monday 😄
It's now been a year. How do/did you like your experience?
@@loveandlife0301 Hey how is the work for a technical solutions engineer?
Dang, I adore this place, period, majestic place! thanks for sharing
Is this actually the workplace? This is crazy.... amazing!!
Thank you Dennis - IThis is really well done! I was there in 2014 for the UGM meeting - and WOW! (there were a lot of people at the time). It's wonderful to see the new buildings. I am sitting here creating a photo album (a physical photo album) based on the 600 photos I took back then. This is a wonderful help in trying to put this together (there is just so much to the campus). Hope to come back again and see more!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for the kind words!
Some might say this video is quite epic
A very good quote I must say, sort of an epic of great porportion
Thank you so much for making this Dennis! I am in the process of applying and I truly hope to work here soon. I heard the campus is whimsical, but I had no idea how amazing it truly is! I also appreciate the fact that you showed us your office. This was so enjoyable to watch!
No problem Karen! Glad you enjoyed it and good luck with your interviews!
Seems like a very underrated place to work, probably due to being in Wisconsin.
@Pork Wontons Why do you say this? Can you give examples? They sent me am email to send my resume to setup an interview
NEMESIS I am a UW-Madison alumnus, plenty of my cohort went to work at Epic. Not many stayed past a year because they end up working 50-60 hrs a week on their projects. The wage is pretty good for a new grad, but not worth it for how hard you are worked.
@@nemesis8508how was the interview process? Did you get the position?
Ive driven by this place many times going from Dubuque to Madison. Thank you for sharing this.
I’ve been in many of the buildings, including the tree house. Incredible place.
This is awesome. I never thought Epic looked like a little Disney World. Thank you for the video!!
Thank you for viewing!
I was getting Hagwarts 😂
I would not be surprised if the stairs started moving lmao this is so cool
When you think of excessive corporate profits this is what comes to mind.
Just went there for a few days of training. Amazing place.
I've been looking at position with Epic, but wasn't in love with the idea of moving to Wisconsin. This video changed my mind about relocating to Wisconsin.
This whole time I thought this was Epic Games haha. This HQ is DOPE
Haha that's what a lot of my friends and peers think sometimes.
I am blown away by this campus- how fun it would be to tour this!!!!
It's like working at a theme park.
Terrific job with this. I've been there several times and just love it. I think your video is the best one I've seen. Thanks.
This place is beautiful. I wouldn’t want to go home
It will make a great haunted location many years from now. The buildings look heavily dated already. I think they went overboard with the theme
wow it'd be amazing to work somewhere like this!!
it ain't half bad :)
Wow....Absolutely Amazing 😍
Its like Disney world👏🏼👏🏼 thanks for sharing
It definitely has that type of whimsical nature!
Why is there not a gym
I was about to complain that Mary Shelley's Frankenstein didn't make the list....then I realized it came out in the 1800s!
Should I stay or I should gooooo! Too good of an opportunity to pass up !
Wow moving pictures !! Love this
Thanks!
Its so amazing, Great video, enjoy watching my Friend😀 From New york City.😀👍
Thanks man!! You've got some pretty great quality vids too :)
I'm a drycleaner by trade, and every time I get annoyed at my software or ppl creating it, I think "hey, at least it's not as bad as doctors have it*
Can you sleep at the job if working on a long project or do they kick you out at 5pm?
They don't kick you out at 5 haha
@@dennisling lol. Right on.
Talk about excess! Yet the darn software is prone to so many bugs and glitches.
Found my dream job😍
Wow I had no idea this is what Epic was like. Although, all those beautiful spaces and then the actual office people work in is a sad, windowless box with no decor or character at all. As big as Epic is, this seems like an enormous creation in a style and concept that is not particularly sustainable. It's all brand new, so a Harry Potter campus may seem interesting to Millennial workers, but what will it be like in 20 years? How will all those buildings be maintained?
Currently going through certification online and feeling like I’m missing out. Do they offer tours for tourists?
We have self-guided tours that start at the main entrance!
Thank you for sharing. How awesome 🤩
Lol, you didn't show the buildings in Judy's recommended order!!
lol true :(
OKay I'll bite. what is judy's recommended order?
Is epic training/ certification done online now or we need to visit center for that?
An amazing campus.
Amazing!
A recruiter reached out to me to apply for an epic job right after I graduate and I totally want to but I can’t. I have an other job that requires a 2yr commitment. Will I be able to apply for the epic job in two years?
Yes, I'm sure Epic will be around then! They are a very stable company and you should be able to check open positions on their careers page whenever you want.
Do you have to work their to visit. If not then how much does it cost to visit.
No, you don't need to work here to visit. The campus is free to visit.
Looks amazing!
@Dennis Ling I'm a Senior EHR Support Analyst RN, BSN, MS-IS (c) who can I send my resume to?
Hey there, this is just my personal channel and I don't have any special links to Epic's recruiting team. I would suggest looking at careers.epic.com/ if you haven't already.
Impressive 😱🥰
While Epic's 'Disneyland' headquarters are undeniably impressive, it's hard to overlook the staggering expense, especially in the context of rising healthcare costs. While their software innovations may streamline processes and benefit healthcare, I think we should question whether such lavish spending truly reflects responsible stewardship of their profits. As patients and consumers, don't you wonder if our healthcare dollars could be better utilized. Thought-provoking design shouldn't overshadow accountability and fiscal prudence, especially in an industry as vital as healthcare.
Wow such a wonderful campus/video!
Thanks Jane!
Great video Dennis, Where is everyone? Also, i think it would be cool to see the place during work hours, to see how the flow is.
I filmed this during the weekends so no one would be at work
Not to mention under ground parking for everyone that works there
Ok epic has to be just full of nerds and I'm ok with that
Great video! Some of my colleagues missed their chance to come up to XGM last year so I passed this along to soften the blow. Did I miss you showing the carousel? Or is that only there for large-scale events? And I completely agree...the Epic culinary team is THE BEST!!
Glad the video was of use and thanks for sharing!
I think I had footage of the carousel but ended up scrapping it. It's always there, but it's only turned on for those big events.
Toes 🤩
Have a virtual interview here today
Good luck!
How was your interview and how is your workload?
Does the place turn bleak during winter?!
It's covered in snow during the winter, which I find as very pretty (but annoying to get around). I suppose it depends on personal opinion if snow is considered bleak.
Is your office a single or double? Looks much large than some I've seen.
It's a single :)
It’s too over the top!
Awesome building. Who is in charge of API partnerships in Epic?
Sorry, I'm not sure
@@dennisling how could I find out?
Have an interview next week, wish me luck!!
Late reply, but hope it went well!
@@dennisling I was rejected

and that's a software company? wtf?

Lol I think you showed my building for the shortest amount of time
feelsbadman I definitely wish I had spent more time on some buildings
Can a nurse work here ?
Epic does employ some nurses, but I'd recommend looking at the Epic careers website to confirm if there are specific openings.
Not created for the safety of patients treatment.....more like something to benefit the healthcare providers!!!
Ah no, providers hate it.
Fantasyland is fun and fine for Disney in the entertainment business. But for HEALTHCARE? Give me a break! WE pay for all this every time we use Epic--adding more and more to our costs. Just NO to this on MY healthcare dollar!
They named a building Isis? Weren't they worried that would throw up some red flags with the government? :P
The building was named after the asteroid prior to the creation of that group 🙃
The ISIS group came later
I’m super happy to see that our healthcare dollars are well spent! Meanwhile physicians’ suicide rate climbs and wages stagnate!
Partners Healthcare, just a single medical system, spent $1.2 billion on Epic. Their campus is gorgeous until you realize this is YOUR money. YOUR tax money through Medicare/Medicaid. YOUR insurance premiums. It's YOUR raise that you didn't get because your insurance premiums kept going up. Medical charting has NOT changed significantly in decades. The flashy stuff in Epic and this comically ridiculous campus is just a way to suck more money out of the healthcare system.
How many doctors, nurses, NPs, kitchen staff, cleaning staff, and other frontline workers could have been hired for $1.2 billion? How much population health disparity could have been addressed with $1.2 billion? How many cancer patients had to pay a few hundred extra dollars for their treatment? Now multiply this across every healthcare system that is using Epic. That's how they have this obscenely nice of a campus.
Sincerely, a busy physician who just had to relearn my muscle memory / workflow AGAIN due to another Epic "upgrade" (i.e. so some highly paid people could have something to do)
Thanks for sharing your perspective! As someone who worked at Epic for a few years and is still working in health tech, just wanted to add a few things.
I totally agree about one thing - Epic has many things it gets wrong, and can do much, much better. But there are some things you mention that are disingenuous and lead to superficial arguments. I'm sure you know how complicated the healthcare system is - how different government bodies/regulations, pharmaceutical companies, the AMA, and other healthcare players all play a significant role in why we have the insurance premiums and other costs that we have today. EHR systems are one small part of the cog, Epic is one of many EHRs, and Epic's campus is one minuscule part of that.
Thinking about it logistically - no, Epic didn't have to invest hundreds of millions into a Disney-like campus and instead they could've spent ~50% of what they did for normal office buildings. But where would that money have gone if Epic didn't spend that money on fancy buildings? Sure, maybe Epic could've lowered costs to all licensing hospitals by ~0.03%. More realistically, Epic would've reinvested that money elsewhere in the company, just like any other company would.
As for the $1.2 billion cost for Partners, you're acting like Epic just ate it all up and sat on it, but most of that money is used to either: 1. directly pay real life people like the healthcare and healthtech workers who made the install successful, or 2. cover costs at Epic (building costs being only a small fraction of what it takes to operate) and reinvest into the company.
I totally get your frustrations about the usability of Epic, though, and the seemingly bleak future of endless EHR updates and lack of usability. I, too, am rooting for the improvement of our EHRs, and hope Epic can find that positive direction in the future.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Quietly provide 60%? You will soon learn my name Epic
RIP Dennis who probably totally got fired for this
I can confirm I did not get fired for this :)
Now I see why it costs hospitals multiple multiple millions to put in EPIC. With the bulk paid by the tax payer. Sorry, this was aggravating to watch.
This makes me sick. Seeing our health care dollars being spent like this is a disgrace. If they would only spend 1/100 the funds spent on this place talking to doctors about how to make their system work better. Every since I learned the slogan of the company is work, have fun, make money I knew there was a problem. Shame.
The Epic slogan is actually "do good, have fun, make money" and in that order. It's funny you mixed up "work" with "do good."
Also, the spending on the Epic headquarters is a completely separate budget from "our healthcare dollars." Your statements are quite disingenuous and demonstrate a superficial understanding of how companies (Epic included) operate.
Fun fact: Epic does spend well over 1/100 of the building funds to work with and hire doctors to make the system work better.
Well, that was cringe.
No, it really wasn’t. Don’t be jealous.
Well, as an EPIC user, end user, i can say, today EPUC is an EPIC MIERDA. Now I will tell ot to you in latin MIERDORUM EPICORUM.
