Always surprises me to see people build Ajani as a generic Boros aggro deck and not a Boros sacrifice/burn deck. Ajani needs cards like Goblin Bombardment, Staff of Compleation, Weaponize the Monsters, Barage of Expendables, Witch's Oven and such to flip him at will to continuously shoot down opponents utility creatures and eventually burn face. Mondrak and Solphim are incredibly good in the deck as well.
You use Ajani for Boros. I use Ajani to make a pure cat deck. We are not the same. (J/K but seriously, I love cats so I made like 3 or 4 cat decks, including one with this version of Ajani so I could get that beautiful red commander type as well as my overused white type xD)
@@krystallinekris no I use Ajani to use the planeswalker side. I don’t like the idea of just leaving it up to my opponents whether or not they want to flip Ajani. There are much better “cat tribal” commanders than Ajani. He’s an excellent burn commander.
@@patrickwoodlands4086 Not really. I mean you could go with that white / green cat that gives everything that has +1 counters extra ones when he attacks, I suppose (oka-something? I forgot the name). That'd give access to a lot of the really good Green cats, too, but I was joking with that first part. Plus, the planeswalker side (of this card) creates cats and gives +1 counters to every cat you control, not to mention he's extremely cheap so if he gets killed off you can resummon him easily multiple times. That is easily one of the best 'pure cat' commanders there are, when you're looking at just how useful they are to the cat archetype rather than how useful they are in general. The other Ajani planeswalkers give life (usually) and either a static number of +1 countrs for their normal abilities, or +1 counters to everything for their ultimates. There is the one that gives you an emblem that creates 2 or 3 lifelink 1/1 cats every turn, though. The big downside to the other Ajani planeswalkers though is that most of them are Mono-White and I don't think playing the Completed one or that other white / green Ajani is worth the commander slot (but are worth considering as part of the main deck of any cat build) Rin and Seri are a "cat and dog" card, but you can kind of cheat having dogs in a pure cat build if you're willing to put Jinnie Fay in there. The only other 'really good' pure cat commanders I can think of is Jetmir, if you're able to flood your board with all the tokens cat cards seem to like to make. EDIT: Oh right, I forgot that one weird cat that looks like an elk that gives +1 to other cats, too, and he's also white / green.
100% agree on Staff of Compleation. The fact it doesn't even appear on the EDHRec page is truly criminal, every single mode is useful at nearly all point of the game.
He should have played giver first, so infernal grasp would fizzle. Obviously if he got mana screw, ir would be almost the same result, but protection it's better than just the guide of souls, more in a Grixis deck
WTA If I have a Ajani(1) in play on the battlefield, then I cast another Ajani(2), what will really happen? A- Legend rules, Ajani(1) sacrifice and Ajani(2) flip transform? B- Legend rules, Ajani(2) sacrifice and flip transform, Ajani(1) is still on the battlefield?
Ajani transforms into a planeswalker that is red and white, denoted by the little color pips on the planeswalker side. So even though the front is purely a white creature, the ‘card’ overall has a Boros identity!

@@krystallinekrisin the brawl league I’m in Ajani can be both. Forge devil alone can flip it with ease

That was the absolute nut draw. I about fell backwards the asswhooping was so thorough
I swear, Bolas decks always seem to have a hand full of perfect answers... unless I'm playing them

This one a spicy meatball
The hair ls different.. I like it!
So I'll be the guy that asks the newbie question, how is there red in the deck when the commander is only white?

@@ashtheswan705same is true for all the flip walkers of mh3 along with similar cards
VROOOOOM! Go kitties!
sad no forge devil to flip ajani and be a red permanent on board to deal damage
Was fully expecting the 1st game to be CGB playing Nadu again. Slightly disappointed 😆
