I know I do not speak for everyone, but if you wanted to do one or two days a week of Historic Brawl every week instead of Standard, that would be great by me.
Regarding the Atraxa thing in the last game with Tasha: you'd get to steal the Atraxa. There's triggers or replacement effects created when a commander goes to almost every zone - graveyard, exile, hand, deck - but not for the stack or battlefield, so there's nothing they can do about it.
It does hit the graveyard, but the rules change that happened a while back to allow commander death triggers turned the CZ replacement effect for public zones into a state-based action, and because SBAs are not checked during the resolution of a spell or ability Tasha gets away with her library-to-grave-to-battlefield thievery.
@@LordZurkov Nah, Tasha is weird. She makes your opponent reveal until they hit three creatures, puts those directly into play, and then sends the rest to the grave. Not relevant here since you're right, the sba for going to the grave wouldn't have a chance to intervene, but she wouldn't trigger something like Flayer of the Hatebound but can steal creatures even under a Leyline of the Void esque effect.
@@Kestral287 Yeah FR. A lot of the times decks don't have a way to specifically screw you over if you top your commander or send it to the GY. But it's definitely WAY smarter and safer just to send it to commander zone in those situations. Not to mention Tasha was revealed and it wasn't a surprise or anything.
CGB, so glad you made this! Working on this EDH deck with my sister. Previously made a Ghidorah (Illuna, Apex of Wishes) similar to your earlier historic brawl video. Keep up the inspiring content!
For tasha, none of the creatures actually hit the graveyard, just the other revealed cards, so you would get the atraxa. It wouldn't matter anyway, since state based actions, like the one that lets you put you commander into the command zone, don't check until a spell or ability finished resolving. Either way, you would get the atraxa.
This new set is the funnest in a long time, especially in draft. I love the artwork too, the new "esika" card with the rainbow is the best artwork in the set!

1:08:16 The Commander would be allowed to move to the command zone. You get so many people to scoop when you're at so low life and they're at a high amount. Pretty sure it's just rage quitting over all the control.
Im addicted to your videos. I basically watch them everyday. One question: How much money does it cost to have your impressive collection of cards in MTGarena?
If you want a robust collection, I recommend learning to draft. If you do well at drafting and play a lot, you can collect the entirety of each set as they're released without spending any cash on MTGA.
I faced against an Atraxa deck today, though I gotta say rather than an Atraxa deck that one was "boardwipe tribal" deck as all they did past turn 4 was wipe the board, they casted crux of fate, then depopulate, then white sun's twilight and still had fumigate on hand.
You would have gained control of atraxa in the last game. There is no window for them to put it into the command zone as it does not change zones before being put onto the battlefield. Wish we could have seen it.
It does change zones (twice, actually), but the CZ redirection effect is a state-based action when moving to public zones, and SBAs are not checked during the resolution of a spell or ability, so Tasha does steal it.
@@LordZurkov just because i would like to ensure I understand, what zones does it change to? aside from library to battlefield which does not trigger CZ redirect
Kenrith lets you play any of them you want and gives your creatures haste and trample to help them attack the battles. Plus all the other obvious value stapled to Kenrith. Unfortunately that value puts him in hell queue usually, which might create too much pressure on your slightly meme-y battle deck. Kyodai maybe, to keep the competition lower? Fill out the creature slots with aggressive attackers that can help flip your battles and use the commander as a combat trick, in a pinch, maybe late game, cast him and if need be pump him to attack the battles in the air. Could honestly be the perfect deck for Kyodai now that I'm thinking of it.
Man, the Recurring Nightmare/Survival of the Fittest combo was the undisputed champ from back when I played competitively. I don't know if I can watch the video, it'll trigger my shakes, haha.
nope dude you can't bring it back because in the change of the position of atraxa from deck to gaveyard the player can decides if put it on comand zone or not
OG Atraxa seems like a hard nut to crack in Arena, I guess a lot of the staples that make her bonkers in paper commander aren't on the client. I've seen so many decks with her at the helm since her release and none of them have done anything, I've only lost to it due to mana screw (drew four lands in my 49 land deck, Etali with lands, ramp, and all top end, I drew more 6+ mana cards than I did lands in six turns, felt great) and even then it was by no means crushing. I don't know, maybe it's more of a multiplayer inclined card, I haven't pulled one and after seeing it's performance I'm not gonna craft it so I haven't tried building it myself yet.
I dont even know how its a hard nut to crack honestly. No matter how you build her, it seems to me like theres plenty of support. As CGB showcased, superfriends with plenty control works. I could also see a very synergistic midrange counters build work too, where you just go super big and wide. Early game interaction is key no matter what, and I feel not enough players are doing that and its why they just don't do anything most games.
She actually is a pain to figure out. I've tried many iteration and, while doing good, I can feel the deck isn't optimal and feel a bit of a let down. Which is a shame because I love the card. What are those cards that makes her bonkers in edh you were talking about? I am thinking right now of fetch lands because mana base is a nightmare but maybe you had other cards in mind.
That last atraxa player quit for no reason! You had to answer his board his hand and an atraxa otw. If you get it with Tasha and he can't move zones, he still is in a winning position. Idk if he saw you had it and the answers you needed I'd be less confused but just quitting from a winning position like that is wild.
Hey sorry if this is a dumb question, do you know why I can't find atraxa in game in the deck builder? I tried checking off all expansions and owned/unowned but she's not there :(
The year is 20XX. Everyone plays the same Atraxa deck at TAS levels of perfection. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on who goes first. The coinflip metagame has evolved to ridiculous levels due to it being the only remaining factor to decide matches.
Somehow the comments are populated by negative remarks, so I suppose Ill put my 0.02 in. Deck has some interesting things, and it has some cool (if straightforward) synergies. I enjoyed the gameplay, and the tactical discussion you offer is always nice. I came for daily CGB mtg content, and here it is. Since I do not have the disposable funds to MtG on Arena/paper, especially not for the diverse decks you put on the channel, its an enjoyable experience where one gets to "backseat" to some degree with all these cards. It never ceases to amaze me how much people want to complain and gripe instead of doing something a bit more meaningful, like voting with their feet.
