- Hello and welcome back to the lost planeswalker. Today is the first video in my series where I am going to see all the different Atraxa decks that can be built. Poison is up first and really scary. I hope you enjoy and have a great day!

Rogues passage is an absolute essential land to include pay 4 and tap it and you can make a target creature unblockable of that is an infect or toxic creature then someones definitely taking some poison counters
As there are many Phyrexians in this deck, if you are low on money, you can switch Vorinclex for a Roaming Throne. It's cheaper moneywise, mana-wise, has ward and doubles many of your proliferates or poison counter drops
Problem is… Atraxa’s text is “Angel Horror” and there is no “phyrexian” for some stupid reason. Meaning if you choose “phrexian” it will not apply to atraxa only the phyrexians in the 99 🤷♂️ really annoying actually
@@austinlowell8829 atraxa was updated to be phyrexian. the reason she didn't have that typing initially was because at the time of that printing, the phyrexian creature type didn't exist. its why ezuri claw of progress and even the original phyrexian praetors lacked the type
So im still a bit of an mtg noob so does that mean that it just IS a phyrexian despite saying angel horror? Or I need to get the updated version of atraxa?
@@austinlowell8829 yes. you can use the old version as the current printing.
@@austinlowell8829any version of Atraxa Praetor's voice is an Phyrexian Angel Horror. When in doubt just look up the card at the original MTG website. The rules texts there are the updated ones.
As another example: Many older cards don't specifically say "Mill" on their effect text, but "Put the top X cards of their library in their graveyard".
So technically cards like Bruvac, the Grandeloquent wouldn't work with those older cards. That's why WOTC updates the rules texts. You can check out the card "Traumatize" for example.
They basically did the same with Atraxa here

Just proxy it. Proxies are legal even in commander tournaments now.

I have some modification to make :
Out : vishgraz // In : tyrannax rex / atrocity
Out : court of garenbring // In : ghostly prison / norn's annex
Out : skrelv hive // In : phyresis / necrogen communion
Out : gateway beacon / In : smothering tithe or esper sentinel / mystic remora
Explanation :
Vishgraz even though seems cool he is not : it should be a boss monster (which he would if you run it as cmdr) but he doesnt do much so to replace him i advise either
tyrannax rex (the absolute best choice) or atrocity of tyrannax both have haste and toxic 3+ they just do more than simple mites
Court of garenbrig : you play infect == you are the target so keeping the monarch is not a possibility
Instead add some more protection like ghostly prison or norn's annex it will leesen the dmg taken over time and slow your biggest enemy : the token deck
skrelv hive : a good card but not in this deck the payoff isnt enough
phyresis or necrogen communion to make use of your non poison making creature
gateway beacon is honestly to much you only have 2 planeswalker and enough proliferate to ult them quickly so no need for that
Finally esper sentinel / mystic remora and smothering tithe are all good to add because draw and mana is good especially in this type of deck
This based on my game experience and thus should only be taken as a guideline
Aside from that great deck and it is visible that you put a lot of effort in it

It would be a weird spot to be in but if everyone had one poison, atraxa out, haste boots and you had 12 mana 2blue,1green,1black you can win that turn. Play Tekuthal (2 blue and 2)to get double proliferate - agent frank horrigan (Black, Green and 5)says when he enters or attacks proliferate twice (5 poison at this point) 1 to put hate boots on and swing, that's another 4 poison and pass, atraxa gives the last bit
Hey there, newer to magic as in the past year with 2 precons and learning friends decks. Wouldn’t swiftfoot boots be better than lightning greaves as you wouldn’t be able to apply sword of truth and Justice and counters and extra added abilities because of shroud? I thought they came out with swiftfoot boots specifically to fix lightning greaves
This is very true. The nice ability of lighting grieves is that you can equip them for 0 so unless you are worried about what ever you have being equipped being destroyed swiftfoot boots would be better for equipping other things to as well. lighting grieves can just be moved around while you equip. I try not to actually play to many commanders like Atraxa that players are going to want to removed a lot so I am not the final word by any means on what is better at any given time. Sounds like a salty ass deck, and I am all hear for it.
Is there a need for all those expensive lands? That deal damage to you?
Or a more beneficial/ cheaper alternative?
@@Yatapin first of all, pain lands are very good and cheap, definitely should include all of them.
if you have enough budget, you should also include all bond lands, shock lands, or even fetch lands and dual lands. Mana fixing and etb untapped are important in this deck.
for alternative to save some money, scry lands are probably the best options for you.
for lands that produce any color, command tower, exotic orchard, city of brass, mana confluence, these are the best.
this is clearly a turn 20 deck... with mana cost avg of 5 its gonna be super slow

i give u that u treuly bild a very reliable one, but man is it slow!
u'd be dead by turn 5-6 in a casual game!

@@brookecunningham7965Not him, but the fetch lands and shock lands are good but pricey. The problem are all the addition of tapped tri-lands that will keep you behind the pace of the game, especially with a deck that will be targeted. Better additions would be filter lands (pay 1, get two colors of mana), the double check lands from the latest innistrad set (enters tapped unless you control two or more lands), and even scar lands (tap for colorless or for one of two colors and pay 1 life)
