@@AmanomiyaJun almost like a commission, Nintendo paid for the agency to make an ad for them, but Nintendo was given full ownership of the ad. Obviously you would have to credit the original creator/s for a regular commission.
Nintendo owned the ad and it was their ad. Plus they should as a major company make sure that company didn’t steal anything for it. So it was Nintendo that would be sued if it was liable. Except it wasn’t.
The funny thing is Zimmer’s “You’re So Cool” is heavily (perhaps suspiciously) inspired by “Gassenhauer” from the film Badlands.

Copyright is so dodgy for music. There are only so many combinations of notes, rhythms and chord progressions that you can put together that will sound good.

This is totally going to get copyright claimed. I mean, they (try to) sue Nintendo for using a song that Nintendo legitimately bought from them, I don't think they'll care that this is clearly fair use. It might take four years to happen though...

I've said this before but I'm always impressed by your ability to pull out super obscure events like this and make interesting videos about them. You're already better at this than most other gaming channels I've watched, and yet you're a lot younger than most of them! Just imagine how good you could get with even more practice and experience. I was expecting this story to go any which way.
First maybe the advertising agency misappropriated the music, and Nintendo was the wrong party to sue.
Another possibility I considered was that maybe Hans Zimmer sued, when he didn’t own the song.
There’s been lawsuits over King Kong by entities that didn’t own the IP. Starting with Merian C. Cooper suing to keep King Kong vs Godzilla from being made, and obviously the one between Universal and Nintendo.
Nope. Just ends up Morgan Creek is bad at filing licenses, and has shitty paralegals, whose job is to check these things before a suit is filed.
