To be fair, it's a smart decision. A bank would be heavily guarded. But there's not really gonna be much security for a truck transporting some games and plastic figures. Like I'd be surprised if there was anything more than just the driver for the amiibo truck.

This was honestly an AMAZING video. Firstly, the ads. They didn't interrupt anything you said. I only got 2, which I didn't really mind, and always came after you had finished talking. Secondly, the music choice. Always goes with what you are talking about. And finally, the editing and passion! Wow, I actually recently saw the original 3 Splatoon amiibos in my local Gamestop for the first time in years, I was very surprised.

However, I live in the UK, and I somehow could, atleast at the time, manage to pre-order the amiibo by itself. Odd.

I was somebody affected! Only found out when I came to pick it up with my Mum. We weren’t offered the other Splatoon amiibo for free, though, but we did get the discount.
100 years later 1,000s of plastic squid things found.
Dude, I remember this like it was yesterday 😂😂😂 amiibo hunting was brutal when they were fresh (no pun intended) now sometimes it’s a bit difficult cuz you can’t preorder them anymore (at least where I live) and it’s first come first serve.
So that's why I remember struggling to get these amibos when I was a kid, thanks for the story Thomas!

Honestly, if I was more cynically inclined, this whole thing sounds like Game and Nintendo partnered up to reap extra profits from the 'stolen' amiibos.

That's like a grocery store being called food
The only person who could've stolen the whole lorry would be the driver. It doesn't make sense for someone to somehow get in and kill the driver. On the other hand if the driver was killed or found injured then how did they do it? It takes a large amount of skill to commit a crime like this without getting caught.

At the time, I was a kid (I live in the UK) and I walked into a local game shop one day after the news of the robbery was out there and they had one single 3 pack of splatoon amiibo. I assume they imported it and I reserved it immediately, ended up having to wait until christmas after begging my family but that amiibo became the most important part of my collection. Still have it.
Game being the biggest game seller in the Britain sounds like the most British thing in the world...

Imagine if the person was only interested in the truck itself or were trying to steal something else and got the splatoon stuff only because of chance/mistake and had no idea what Amiibo even were.
I just wanna say: it's way more "manchild" behavior to care about what other people do with their money or what kinda things they collect.
I had a single version of that squid because when my dad went to Japan he got me one
I remember when that happened and, after then, the squid was released individually in the UK and that was when I got mine. I’m pretty sure the one I own wasn’t one of the stolen ones because that incident happened in May and I got mine from Argos in November along with my Wii U and Splatoon.
