To be fair, it's a smart decision. A bank would be heavily guarded. But there's not really gonna be much security for a truck transporting some games and plastic figures. Like I'd be surprised if there was anything more than just the driver for the amiibo truck.

I assume they imported it and I reserved it immediately, ended up having to wait until christmas after begging my family but that amiibo became the most important part of my collection. Honestly, if I was more cynically inclined, this whole thing sounds like Game and Nintendo partnered up to reap extra profits from the 'stolen' amiibos. 'We can't/won't make more.' 'You're being downgraded, free of charge.' Someone steals an ENTIRE truck, but no one can do anything? This whole thing reeks.

Dude, I remember this like it was yesterday 😂😂😂 amiibo hunting was brutal when they were fresh (no pun intended) now sometimes it’s a bit difficult cuz you can’t preorder them anymore (at least where I live) and it’s first come first serve.
The only person who could've stolen the whole lorry would be the driver. It doesn't make sense for someone to somehow get in and kill the driver. On the other hand if the driver was killed or found injured then how did they do it? It takes a large amount of skill to commit a crime like this without getting caught.
Imagine if the person was only interested in the truck itself or were trying to steal something else and got the splatoon stuff only because of chance/mistake and had no idea what Amiibo even were.
@@miakiikazu not really, CEX is just traded in movies, games and consoles but GAME sells both pre owned stuff and brand new stuff. They also sell the same amount of garbage merchandise that Gamestop does.
I remember when that happened and, after then, the squid was released individually in the UK and that was when I got mine. I’m pretty sure the one I own wasn’t one of the stolen ones because that incident happened in May and I got mine from Argos in November along with my Wii U and Splatoon.

I was one of those affected by the lorry theft. Didn't get my green squid and got the discount on the game for it. However, some years later I *did* manage to get a separate green squid amiibo, from GAME itself completely new. In it's own separate packaging alike any other normal amiibo, not from a special edition pack. My only guess is down the line they did end up making more green squid amiibo and supplied them to the UK. I still have the packaging for it too.
