They have a lot more songs now than they did back then. When you only have one album out, you pretty much have to play most of the songs off of it at the show. But, when you put more music out there you have more to play and your set is limited. They probably don't want to play this because they have more songs now.

No. Probably a handycam, those had very good sound quality back then. Audio didn't get saturated like most phones nowadays.
