I’m used to Hasbro’s corner cutting like the cookie cutter sound FX being the same with all their sabers so I’m with Grogu it’s gonna be on display most of the time!
This review is very detailed and goes into a lot of depth about this Darksaber. I'm honestly thinking of saving up money for it and this review really helped, and personally I don't mind the small setbacks, especially since it'll just be on my shelf (if I manage to get it of course) as decoration and stuff like that but of course I'll have it on from time to time and I'm sure I'll be having a blast with it. As the wise people said, it is what it is.
This lightsaber seems good for cosplay, but as a collectable piece, I wish the blade had the crackling affect that it does in the shows and It would be better if they fixed the speakers. Hopefully they can make an improved one in the future since it is pretty expensive. But, It does look better then the Galaxy's Edge one and if you just plan on displaying it, its pretty freaking amazing.
Yes agree looks great for display. It does have a bit of the effect when you strike at something. The LED lights flicker. But only with a forced movements. Standing still it doesn’t.
Im getting it regardless for my display wall and cant wait! Luckily im getting it through my work so get a very nice staff discount and will only need to pay stock rates so it won't be as taxing when I get the ahsoka and darksabre blades at once 😁

Thanks for the honest review. I was honestly worried about the sound and durability. It's my first force fx and I ordered it knowing that I could probably re-sell it later if i didn't want it. I've built a number of higher quality sabers and while the hilt looks nice I'm curious to see how the build of it measures up to those of hobbyists like Nerfworx Lab. The price is obviously very different but it might be an idea to use this hilt, strip out all the internals and upgrade them. But then the issue would be getting a blade that fits too. Lets see what happens

Was hoping for an external USB port.. would love to have it discretely plugged in and on display. Also, the light fractures on the edge should have been incorporated. I may buy some of that Vanta Black type paint to make the blade look more realistic. Perhaps I can leave light fractures for a slight reflection on the stock black?
The Dark Saber isn't loud, cuz on screen it isn't aswell...Its more a screeching, Bird whispering Sound. I love the Optic, sounds and effects on it. Would be awsome if it had those crackled thunderstorm optic, but its okay! I am thinking of getting one. Thanks for the review!
We really need a version 2 with all better improvement of this Darksaber. (That includes the legacy Darksaber as well.) It's really hard to get a good and last long one besides the neopixel ones.

Yeah... unfortunately, most rechargeable batteries in the official lightsabers, the companies don't provide a back up battery. (That's goes to legacy Darth Sidious and Qui-Gon Jinn sabers) Once it's dead, it's officially a cool piece of junk unless they do something... which I highly doubt they will.
The fact that there’s no white crackling is ridiculous to me. There’s no point of the blade without the white crackles. The hilt looks great tho. Awesome review man!
the battery looks pretty much standard to me. a protected 18650. Most people into sabers will have plenty of them around. I've got a good 2 dozen lol. I got a bunch of mine out of old laptop battery packs. Ones that kept a charge, I use
I ended up canceling my pre-order after seeing this. I’m not about to drop $270 on a not very bright, not very loud lightsaber. I’ll wait for a custom saber maker to make a better one.

That is strange, because the el-cheapo children's model has the light crackling. This expensive one (which I bought used for a good price), does not. Well, we shall see when it arrives how I like it in person.

The sabers sounds are too low in volume especially when you turn it on compared to the tv series and animated series. For speaker placement it’s tricky but other Saber manufacturers are able to use rechargeable batteries and still place the speaker at the bottom. Even GE version is louder. Also the whole charging process is off. You need to unscrew a bolt to remove the battery compartment and charge that, it’s cumbersome. They could have just put a USB port on the saber
@@GeekCulture Out of curiosity, have you tried taking apart the hilt? The only thing I don't like is there's no way to hang it on a belt, and in the show there's actually a metal ring through the bottom tip of the hilt. If it's otherwise empty there could probably be drilled out and a ring inserted.
I personally wish that the lights were brighter, there were the cracks in the blade, it was louder and the black area of the blade should have been shiny metal or a gloss-like material to make it look more pitch black like the show.
I own the Disney Legacy version and this looks soooo sssooooooooo much better, 100 times better. The blade also looks great on this. The Legacy one is garbage. I’m looking forward to getting this. And this stand looks tons better with better functionality. Sound whatever, I’m more impressed with this one. I only wish it had cracks in the dark area of the blade and it could be a little brighter. It looks as if the Legacy one forgot to get the black piece attached. And the tip of the Legacy fades out horribly, so it’s nice to see this light up more even.

I just picked mine up today and I honestly have to agree with you on basically everything you said. The hilt is amazing and incredibly rugged, but the sound, I wish it were louder. And when can we get a force FX with smooth swing? By the way, the Ahsoka saber apparently has a manufacturing defect, to the point where Hasbro have withdrawn all orders and have cancelled the product, other I would have it by now.

I’ve had a problem with my black series darth revan saber There’s spots on the blade and I’ve tried to clean it who knows how many times and it still can’t get rid of the spots
I really thought about cutting those cracks in the blade to make it look like in the show but due to it beeing a thick piece makes it a lot harder and its probably not worth it. I wish someday we will get a good darksaber like the fan companies are making them

Probably the durasteel absorbs most of the sound. If inside speaker is loud then it's well made. Sacrificed loudness for accurate appearances. 👌

Yes there are a lot of parts to make the blade fit. May cost a lot more to make than what it’s worth.

Silver screw at bottom of hilt allows access to USB charge port without removing battery.
Galaxy's edge and hasbro sabers both have great qualities that both require from each other... interesting.

I wouldn’t say it’s wobbly as in poorly made but does have some flexibility as it’s a flat blade and it’s plastic base

Actually the black panel is part of the saber snd it has a ridge to it so hard to carve. It’s not like an adhesive sticker

Well, that is what the Darksaber is supposed to sound like. It’s a bummer where the speaker is, but really where else would you be able to put it?

Yes but this one is slightly different from the animated series and the show. That or the volume is too low on it

I just picked mine up today and I honestly have to agree with you on basically everything you said.
The hilt is amazing and incredibly rugged, but the sound, I wish it were louder.
And when can we get a force FX with smooth swing?
By the way, the Ahsoka saber apparently has a manufacturing defect, to the point where Hasbro have withdrawn all orders and have cancelled the product, other I would have it by now.
Thanks for watching and congrats on the Darksaber. Didn’t know about Ahsoka’s being discontinued. I’ve heard and we experienced some edges that were quite sharp, perhaps that’s the reason.

In canon they said the darksaber is denser than a normal lightsaber so maybe that adds to why it’s heavy lol
Sure understand that. Not sure if they were following canon for the weight or to support the blade. Either way it’s very nice build quality

Battery looks like a standard 18650 cell which are pretty easy to get.
I really thought about cutting those cracks in the blade to make it look like in the show but due to it beeing a thick piece makes it a lot harder and its probably not worth it. I wish someday we will get a good darksaber like the fan companies are making them
I’m sure in time someone will make a killer blade for it. This isn’t bad but would have liked to have seen more out of it
I was thinking the same thing bro really sucks there’s no cracks in it any ideas how to do this wonder if it glows under the black Saber piece or just the outside lining of the Saber hopefully someone does a custom video let me know if you have any ideas would love to hear them thanks 😎🤟🏼
@@decodedmusic2974 I'm thinking maybe you can find a vinyl wrap that glows in the dark and add them to the black part of the blade and maybe the light from the blade will make it glow...
