- Livingston county sheriff's Dept illegally tow my car after they violate my constitutional rights and Amendments. Racial profiling saying I cut the exit ramp hazard line to close. This video comes after I pass a sobriety test for marijuana and the 4th officer on the scene which was the sergeant claimed my car smelled like marijuana after I refused a search. Drug dog comes on the scene and does not make a hit. Now there's an investigation and my car needed to be towed because the glove compartment was locked. These police are out of control!!
Impounding a car today, for a warrant tomorrow, for a search you already conducted (and found nothing), because a dog showed interest??? Ok gotcha

also, a DA doesnt sign a search warrant, A JUDGE signs a search warrant, DA only gets involved AFTER a crime is committed to press charges.

Erin Goodwin the only issue is they have a gun and they are not required (qualified immunity) to be right in the moment. But you can try to convince them to stop. But they may violate your rights either way. It gets fishy when they plant things on you though. Because they can say that they had probable cause to search it, even say you were trying to obstructing or hinder. Or they saw a crime from the window and that gave them enough to search without a warrant.

I got stopped on my way to OU Athens a known party school with a buddy of mine for a complete bullshit infraction. I was "too close to a semi" at a stop light in the middle of a small town, mind you I always leave at least 2 car lengths at any stop light just for my own personal safety, so I knew I was already being profiled when they told me the reason. I consented to search, and stood there and watched the officer remove my key from the ignition when he realized my glove box was locked and unlock it himself without consent to unlock a locked compartment. I knew I was good, so I just watched, and I'm not a lawyer or someone who knows all account of the law in that specific township, but I'm fairly certain that's not allowed. I ended up on my happy way after that because I had done nothing wrong, but the literal overreach (with his own arm into the keys in my ignition) is a fairly good way to sum up those small town cops who just want to fuck your life over for their quota. I'm just glad he didn't plant drugs there, who knows what would have happened if I wasn't watching his every move.

That's the way probable cause works. Without consent to search. Look up hostile, mobile, and high pursuit. They have the right for an admin impound since owner did not consent to search.
Yes, a vehicle containing possible Evidence can be held until a warrant is issued even if day or two later. Happens every day of the week and is 100% legal. This is what’s wrong with America. Ignorance of the law. Lesson learned here. Don’t smoke weed in your car. Courts have always said that a vehicle isn’t same as a home and has less expectations of privacy and less probable cause is needed to search. Police could search the car without a warrant by just detecting the marijuana smell.. But since the are obtaining a warrant instead of a warrantless PC search, I’m guessing that he is suspected in a more serious crime and they want a reason to get into the car to look for gun shell casings, large amounts of drugs, cash, or other evidence related to a more serious crime. They want a warrant to back the search so there’s less probability items found during the search will not easily be thrown out as evidence by the court. Some People on comment section jump to conclusions when we don’t always know the full facts. And may never know.

For a warrent tomorrow...i have family friends that are detectives in Odessa Texas, my uncle was a deputy sheriff for Galveston county, and a his brother-in-law is a lawyer. I can tell you %100 if that warrent came "tomorrow" then what they did is illegal and both will be put on administrative leave probably with pay but still they just broke the law themselves. The vehicle must have been apart of a crime: getaway car, vehicular manslaughter, ect, or the vehicle must have evidence of a crime: recent damage, i witness accounts, drug dog actually finding drugs, the dog hitting on a smell is only grounds for a search and they didnt find anything so at that point the warrent is required, or in the case of public safety like the car is falling apart. Not what happened, they had the smell of weed and couldn’t get into the glovebox (I’m guessing it was locked) so they impounded the car so they could get a search warrant the next day for the glovebox and whatever else they want to search in the car. 1:55 that’s not how impounds work :/. They usual impound cars for DUIs or for a traffic violation and not for a search warrant. He should also be able to have custody even if it was for a search warrant, but this is unlikely since he passed the test.
Also through the start of the video 0:00- 0:25 , he asked why his car is being impounded, his badge number, name, and asked if he can take his car, follows by complete silence and only answers his name.
0:59 again even if he had a search warrant they couldn’t impound his car as he has a available person to take the car, even if he was under the influence.
1:26 Again he should be able to take his belongs from the car even if he’s under the influence or has a warrant, but he shouldn’t even be impounded since the reason is not even valid.

I had a police pull me over for “swerving”. And then said he smelled weed in my car and said he will give me a warnings d to take care of the smell but I was like I just came from work and no one has smoked in the car in years what are you smelling.
@hyperflyer drug sniffing dogs are about as reliable as a coin flip. Due to lack of training by officers dogs often will alert to a car because they want to please their handlers. Police can also train a dog to alert on command.
