One Superman comic I would probably adapt for film would be MAN AND SUPERMAN by Marv Wolfman & Claudio Castellini, my favorite Superman origin comic of all time. Marv Wolfman did a fantastic take, and Castellini's art was phenomenal. You can tell Wolfman was really itching to tackle something like this, being a huge Superman fan and all.

But a small thing I would change is from the beginning of the book: I wouldn't have Clark go to Metropolis for the first time by flying over there from Kansas, I would ground him more by taking a bus there. It just seems more of a normal human thing to do for him.

To be on the nose I think the film (Superman: legacy) should be about Superman’s legacy! Who he is as a character, what he’s about, what he’s against and what he stands for as a hero. After the zack Snyder films people have a very twisted view on Superman and I think it’s time they go back to the roots of the character and what makes him endearing to us.

The name “Legacy” made me wonder if they were gonna open with John Kent right off the bat so that they could do a super sons movie pretty early on. I wish they would go more of a smallville show inspired route. It doesn’t necessarily have to be an origin story from the very beginning again, but it’d be cool to have a little more of the focus on grappling with his powers in high school and young adulthood and stuff, since he’s the “Legacy” of Krypton.

Good vid man and I'll look to check out the Superman: Kryptonite comic. Sounds like everything I'd enjoy with solid, adaptable tones for the Superman Legacy film. Hopefully, we get a smart fusion of Supes comics from James Gunn for a fresh Supes film that is accurate and won't disappoint. Good note too about the All-Star Superman comic as well. It is a very generic answer and while I find All-Star Superman to be alright and entertaining, we obviously don't need an adaptation of that. But I can see it having the tone and feel within a film that Gunn would envision for CK/Superman & Metropolis.

They should adapt Superman Secret Orgins. Why? Because they have to establish the basics to the public on who Superman is and what he does best. I feel like that book gets to the point very quickly on understanding Superman. In my opinion people today really need a reminder on what Superman is all about besides being strong and can fly. Especially the younger generation who don't read comics and prefer Manga. I don't think the younger kids today understand Superman as good like Batman and Spiderman. Those two characters are so successful because people know their story so well and have had great adaptions over the years.
Superman Secret Orgins sets up everything. All the key players are there Smallville, Metropolis, The Daily Planet, The Kents, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor etc.
plus two new villians we've never seen on the big screen being Metallo and Parasite. Show Lex Luthor as the master mind behind it all. Establish the rivalry between Lex and Superman on Earth, then move on to his space villians like Brainiac and Mongol etc.
Show Metallo and Parasite as a real Superman level threat to him and not as some pushover villians.
Superman has many villians he can face.
On Earth he can face Lex Luthor and the super criminals he creates or works for him.
Amanda Waller and the Cadmus Project. All the superhero's she creates and clones that are dedicated to the U.S Government.
Space Villians like Brainiac, Mongol, Zod, and Darkseid etc.
Magic Enemies like Mr. Mxyzptlk, Black Adam, Felix Faust. The Enchantress or Etrigan the Demon etc.

Very cool choice for a story which I never read! But I’m a big Darwyn Cooke fan and this book got past me! It’s great to have someone who appreciates these characters and reads the stories! 👍🎯 Brainiac is an excellent adversary and that was oneof the favorite elements about the Superman Animated series from the 90’s! In 1983,Gil Kane did a one and done story called Behold the Ultimate Man! Recommended reading! My big problem with the Hollywood folks is their lameass approach to adapting comics is that they tend to cherry-pick bits from different stories and plop! Both Batman and Superman Animated series did that and the results are excellent and worthwhile! I’m NOT holding my breath waiting for these clowns to get it right but high hopes that they do! Ya never know?

Great video. But I belive that for the movie they should make Superman be less invulnerable and overpowered, have him more tangible weaknesses than just kryptonite and occasional magic.
Cause it will amp up the tention to every situation Superman's in, it will allow for fights to be more strategic and creative, for rescues to get more involving and interesting, and overall show off Superman to be a greater hero, cause facing pain, possiblity of getting inhured or even die, in physical situations that hopless for most and even hard for Superman would made him look more credible, cause now it's doubles the risks, and makes conflicts feel less one sided, that being Superman takes a real effort both physically and mentaly.
Not saying he should become susceptible to bullets, but there should be a balance, otherwise we will never get Superman movies feature Livewire, Toyman, Silver Banshee and many other villians as a real threat, and have kryptonite and kryptonians to be featured for 50 years straight, because everything else will be deemed "Not Strong Enough"

With how Gunn described that movie I instantly thought they were taking inspiration from Birthright. I would actually love to see some elements of American Alien in there. We didn't get enough of Clark during the Snyder era and far from enough HUMAN moments. That's what I'd love to see. Or just a few moments of Superman just doing little things that pull on the old heart strings. I know, I know, but the one page from Allstar with the little girl comes to mind. Secret Origin had moments like that too.

I think it's absolutely necessary to show a scene where he saves someone from committing suicide. That moment in comics is in my opinion the defining moment of Superman. It would be nice to have a whole part of the movie be where he is just being a nice and caring superhero, saving cats from trees, helping old people across the street, and giving bad people a chance to become good again and change their life style for the better.

They should take a Batfleck/Up Up Away/ Kingdom Come approach to Superman. A career having happened in the past his suit in case like Mr Incredibl with Batman it mistake because we want his early years those years are awesome but with Superman everyone wants their exact percentage of early years superman so thats doomed but with this have him rediscover himself after getting a chance to be human for a while seeing the DC universe could probably take care of itself and Supergirl is doing alright but he chooses to be the Superman to do his part because as Clark it's just isn't enough.

  • @LightOfMyLife227

I think it'd be awesome if this film explored the theme of self forgiveness I think that's something everyone can relate to on some level, as everyone has made mistakes that they regret and have struggled with forgiving themselves. Have the film take place during superman's earlier career so we can watch him make mistakes and relate to him on a personal level. The main villain can be atomic skull. Superman and Lex Luthor start off as really good friends and allies that support one another but after super man make such a big mistake that get's atomic skull hurt Lex's opinion and views on him change ( setting up Luthor as the villain for the next film ) Super man being younger and just recently training with his powers doesn't know how to hold back yet so he accidently cripples atomic skull badly enough to where the public thinks super man killed him Lex see's this and his views and opinions on super man change. He now views him as a dangerous and irresponsible person that can't be trusted ,as he thinks superman killed him so he no longer supports what Clark does. ( skull won't actually be dead though, just in a comatose state that makes him appear to be dead).

I've always wanted to see a positive, hopeful Superman, an interesting, nuanced Lex, and I really want to see Brainiac in a movie, and maybe even magic, like Zatanna, because Superman is so strong, but magic affects him, and can lead to some great storylines.

They should have him tackle real-world problems (climate change, poverty, war, hunger, etc), but in a modern setting. I think that's kind of why Joker did so well. There doesn't always need to be some big alien threat like Darkseid or Brainiac. Many people today are very cynical about the state of the world for good reason with all the bad news we're bombarded with. Superman has always been a symbol of goodness and hope for a better future, so I think a movie like that would boost people's morale.
