    I knew colt very well, so seeing this makes me incredibly sad. I played football with him at Mater Dei and just from seeing his athleticism and skill first hand, I’m not surprised by his accomplishments while at Hawaii. Yes I do believe he could have avoided some of troubles he faced by making better judgement on the choices and situations he placed himself in, however sadly after his accident...I don’t believe Colt was ever the same. Since the accident I’ve ran into him a handful of times and each time his health and overall wellness has deteriorated pretty drastically. Last interaction I saw him he was using a cane to walk because his nervous system is shot from the brain injury he withstood. I believe the injury was worse then he had portrayed to media in hopes of keeping his football career alive. The nerve endings and tissue in his feet are dying and it’s causing him to be unable to walk correctly. Even his speech was slightly impaired (which may have been from medication he’s taking), but all in all it was troubling and heartbreaking to witness. I’m sad for my friend and can only pray he’s able to put himself in a better state both mentally and physically. This goes far beyond an NFL career, this is someone’s quality of life that is now being affected.

      Damn man. Thank you for sharing that. However, I wish you hadn't. It sucks hearing that. Don't want anyone to go through that. I'm a Doctor in my residency at the moment. Brain injuries are terrible. I feel really bad for him. I pray everything works out for him. Again, thank you for sharing. Have a great day my friend!

      I remember watching him as the quarterback of Hawaii and playing in the Sugar Bowl against Georgia. He wasn't totally negated in that game. He still showed signs of brilliance. Life has a way at times to totally ruin plans. We might want to keep fighting for our dreams but sometimes your health, your sanity may be at stake. He is one those that makes you wonder 'what if'?

      I remember I absolutely loved watching him play. I have never really been into College football but something about him made me want to try and catch every game. I pray he makes progress towards having a normal life. I had a severe brain injury when I was 16 from a snowmobile accident, it can be such a long, hard journey to get “better” from. I put “better” because Its really something you’ll always deal with certain things, I still have issues from it to this day and I’m 34.

    As a Redskins fan, I was kind of ticked-off when the Redskins cut Colt Brennan in favor of John Beck

    • @8301TheJMan
      @8301TheJMan 6 лет назад +16

      Especially cuz Beck wasn't even phenomenal in college at BYU. I mean he was really good, but at a smaller school - like Brennan's Hawai'i, you expect to see a QB with some sort of extraordinary ability to make him attractive for a pro team and Beck really never did. I don't care what anyone says, but Colt's side-arm sling pass may not have had a whole lot of velocity behind it, but he was easily one of the most accurate passers i've ever seen. Reminds me of someone like Rich Gannon. That guy like Brennan - could certainly throw deep for sure, but he never had much of a fastball, and yet even with throwing sidearm most of his career he was still one of the greatest passers ever due to how accurate he was. There was no way in hell i would have taken Beck over Brennan

Long sleeves, the visor dyeing his hair like the islands of Hawai'i. Man i remember staying up late to watch his games on ESPN. The games in 2007 vs Boise State and Washington were all time great sports memories. My brother and I were huge fans of Colt and Hawai"i. RIP Colt.

    Damn.
    You know what's crazy? I covered Colt Brennan in community college and there was an incident in which him and the football team took all the college newspapers and threw them in the trash. The reason they did that was an article that I wrote where the headline was "Colt Brennan Convicted of Sexual Assault".
    Turns out that headline was wrong because I accidentally used "Convicted" rather than "Accused". What a small world.

      I mean yeah, it definitely was. And I ended up apologizing to him, his parents, and the head coach at the 50 yard line at the end of the next game. I did so against the wishes of the journalism department and in the end, it was the right decision. The mistake was not made out of malice and it was something that should have been caught (by myself of the editing team). But as with everything, the circumstances surrounding the event were confusing and we were all students, not professionals.

    I fucking LOVED Colt Brennan growing up.. Was a kid from Hawaii, my first name was Brennan and this dude was leading the Warriors to an undefeated season..It felt like some sort of star-aligning moment in my life, don't think I've ever enjoyed watching football as much as I enjoyed the 07 Warriors season.. Was always more of a player myself, couldn't get into the act of sitting down and watching games, but Colt changed that, haha. I remember Christmas 07 my Grandparents in Hawaii (I had moved to California) sent us these really cool UH T-Shirts as a gift before the Sugar Bowl.. Wore it so much that my friends used to joke about how I had no other shirts. Good times.
    Thank you for making this video man... Colt was my childhood hero and it feels so good knowing his legacy isn't dead.

    This was a great story, thank you for sharing. Colt was the man in college and one of my favorite players of all time. He is still at moanalua high school as far as I know.
    But one thing I’d like to ask is that people keep their mouths shut about the accident colt was in. The other car they collided with was my wife’s boss’ wife. Due to the accident she became paralyzed from the waist down. She just started taking her first steps last year as she has worked hard to recover from that accident. That accident caused hard times on a lot of people, not just colt. So I ask that people be sensitive about that topic please. Thank you again for sharing this story, great job.

    You do a great job of researching your subjects and it makes for a great story. You are also unbiased and give the subjects the benefit of doubt without being judgemental. You should get off RUclips and go work for a major news organization or ESPN. On second thought forget about the news organizations. They're not interested in the truth.
    Keep up the good work. Subscribed. 🤙
