@The Crafty Blinders van life oh Sam, your poor face looked so exhausted but lovely to see your big happy grin at the end. I just came back from France in my old Transit mk7 that I recently bought ( trying to convert into a day camper) It was just me & my dawg. So glad i found your channel same happend to my van i have a 2010 vw crafter now fixed ! Cheers on a side note ive been running my van on waste veg oil for nearly 4 years now without any modifications at all ! I. Winter just use 30% diesel to help it start and change fuel filter every 6-8 weeks have saves thousands in fuel and with no issues 😉 just thought id let you know !

Hi Sam, been watching your videos as my crafter has the same issue…. Po299, pig tails and eng man light. I’ve checked and tested lots, checked vaccum tightness on all hoses , checked turbo is Clean and spinning free at inlet with no play, removed and checked egr is clear, not blocked , done dpf forced regen, seems ok…. The van drives 98% fine, it drives ok under light load , it also drives ok under heavy hard acceleration, but what it doesn’t like it to coast at about 65mph….. like When you ease off the throttle, then the pig tails come on. Can you please tell Me how you tested the voltage that gave you the indication it was the vac pump? When I put vac gauge on the hose that goes from (new) n75 to turbo actuator it hold vac, then when I Rev it the needle jitters around….not sure if it’s the vacuum or the valve opening and closing really quickly (maybe it’s getting wonky voltage) Great video mate, really helpful. I share your pain 😂
@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife it just failed. I have done 330,000kms so I guess it's expected. I had to replace the steering rack also...VW wanted $6000AUD for one. The price even shocked the guy who worked there. Picked up a brand new on on ebay for $615. What a joke.
Hi, having the same issue, where do you plug the pressure gauge into? Directly to the vacuum pump or N75 to measure pressure. Can you please explain how to the test. Thanks friend.
Hi, where is this in comparison to the EGR? I have a 2.0 tdi golf, CFFB 140. Have currently got a new turbo and EGR lined up…should I do it all at the same time?
The reason for the blockage is down to the dpf the oil gathers carbon and blocks up all the little oil galleries when you do an oil change every oil change you should add an oil flush run for how ever long it says on the tin . And it breaks sown the carbon deposits in the oil hope this helps
Hi Sam my crafter has the flashing glow plug on the dash board and the brake wear light keeps coming on so I'm assuming it's the same problem as yours and was wondering where you got your vacuum pump from ,hope your all well 😊
Hi Sam, i'm glad you got this sorted. Im having a very similar issue with my 2016 crafter. Its been in and out of garages (even VW Breeze official garage) and they cant fix it without firing a parts canon at it. Im at the end of my rope like yourself was, and almost on the brink of selling it and making a huge loss. Can i ask, when yours was going into limp mode, where you also experiencing a sudden loss of all engine power that could only be resolved by restarting the engine? As thats what i'm experiencing after the glow plug lamp and engine lamp come on. Again, like you say its an intermittent issue which is why most garages ive been to cant seem to pin point the issue :( Gutted and skint are the words for me.
One would get instantly paranoid doesn’t it Sam? 😅 I was thinking omg, perhaps hire a smoke tester. There is Mark an English man in Quebec, Canada, Brittanica restorations here on UT) restoring and maintaining land rovers who uses a apparatus like that it but even than (sorry don’t know if it then or than) it is sometimes still not clear :-) hopefully you solved the darn fault code :-)
similar frustrations but i have currently given up taking back to garage they have replaced map sensor egr valve and boost control soleniod they test for a week than i hire out makes it about 70 km then pigtails come on followed by engine light then limp mode dissapears for a day or too then reappears any suggestions what else to try
