I really admire your patience and calmness in resolving these issues. I also recall my relief, when my turbo woes subsided. Let's hope, that this is the end of it and that your van keeps humming!
Cheers, my friend! 🍻😊
Cheers mate 😁👍
Hello Sam ! Great news ! I’m glad you sorted this out. Your face from the beginning is totally different of your face at the end of the vid LOL Your skills are impressive ! Enjoy the lovely summer with the Vany ! Hugs xxx
Cheers mate I'm so much happier driving it now
Wow… you are resilient!
As I write this I’m sat in a lay-by in Dorset in a crafter with similar symptoms. 🤦🏼♂️
Thanks for the great work mate! I’ve subscribed and look forward to seeing more content.
Glad the channel has been some help
New video out tomorrow mate
Great stuff Sam 👏 👍
All sorted now for the Summer trips🎉
The map is out, and the adventures are being planned 😁👍
Currently touring around Normandy and Brittany - fecking beautiful 😊
Mint mate. Glad you got it sorted and hopefully this video will help others with the same issue
There are a few people who have been in contact with the same issue, so hopefully, it will help out others 😁👍
Ohhh Sam, you poor lad, you looked so tired & fed up, my heart went out to you. What a bloody nightmare. 🙏 that's the end of the problem. Hope you have a great time 😊💪👍😍
It's running really well 🤞😁
@The Crafty Blinders van life oh Sam, your poor face looked so exhausted but lovely to see your big happy grin at the end. I just came back from France in my old Transit mk7 that I recently bought ( trying to convert into a day camper) It was just me & my dawg. I was so impressed, 372 miles from SW France to Roscoff ferry, it did it in half a tank, about £50!
Well done Sam so glad that you have finally resolved the engine problem. Great content as normal. Keep up the good work and keep the content coming. All the best from Ambleside. Look forward to meeting up again very soon.
Cheers pal I came looking for your van at Stratford and got accosted never made it further than one field away 😁👍
@@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife no problem Sam. Catch up at the next event in the coming months.
Glad you finally got it sorted
So relieved mate, it's unbelievable how much better I feel, I'm so happy this last week
I hadn't realised how the engine issues were affecting me!
Be nice to finally meet you buddy, who knows, you might even buy a beer!!!!!!
Have I not bought you one yet 🤔 I'm sure I have bought you a few 🤣🤣🤣🍻
Well done Sam. Can you imagine if you didnt have the smarts and time on the tools as you boys what a nightmare this would have been for someone.
I've had a lot of people contact me with the same fault. Hopefully, this sorts it for them all
Cracking on Sam ...mint job !!!
Cheers glad to have it fix 😁👍
I feel your pain. So far so good with mine. Fingers crossed. And passed MOT. 🙌 I see you sent Neil a spare gasket. He’s been having a nightmare lately 🤯. Awesome video as always. And every day is a school day. Hang in there mate. Happy motoring / camping
We are all good loving being back on the road error code free 😁👍
So glad i found your channel same happend to my van i have a 2010 vw crafter now fixed ! Cheers on a side note ive been running my van on waste veg oil for nearly 4 years now without any modifications at all ! I. Winter just use 30% diesel to help it start and change fuel filter every 6-8 weeks have saves thousands in fuel and with no issues 😉 just thought id let you know !
My mate swears by cooking oil 😁👍
Hi Sam it was same code as yours iv got the brake wear light off its a faulty wear sensor and cleared the code so ill keepbyou up to date
Well done for pin-point tge fault 😊
😁👍
🤞🏻 that’s it for the van being dramatic. We’re you that calm off camera? 😂
I try not to let things get me down! but it was trying 😁👍
Hi, having the same issue, where do you plug the pressure gauge into? Directly to the vacuum pump or N75 to measure pressure. Can you please explain how to the test. Thanks friend.
nice work
Cheers mate
Hi really good you got the van fixed, what's the make and model of the obd reader machine you use?
Deal: KINGBOLEN OBD2 Code Reader YA100,Universal Car Diagnostic Tool Engine Fault Code Reader & Check Engine Light with Full OBD2 Functions,I/M Readiness Smog Check CAN OBD2 Diagnostic Scan Tool amzn.eu/d/8XAGs3d
Nice to see you happy. One of the funniest vlogs to date. At first I thought this was another problem but then realised it was filmed pre-vanlife festival. Do you have a link to that obd2 device you use?
The timing was a little of with trying to get ready for the show 😁👍
OBD2 Fault Code Reader amzn.eu/d/0E29c7T
@@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife cools thanks. Ordered. I have a wifi one but it takes ages to connect and doesn’t seem as good as this one. Hopefully I can sort my glow plug error.
Hey Sam cliff must have 1/4 share in you van now marra ;)
I pay my way pal 🤣🤣🤣
I'm sure I said vacuum pump at the start 😂 bloody minefield so sympathise with ya charver but that engine must feel like a new women now 👍
I've been chasing my tail mate 😁👍 it's running sweet mate
One would get instantly paranoid doesn’t it Sam? 😅 I was thinking omg, perhaps hire a smoke tester. There is Mark an English man in Quebec, Canada, Brittanica restorations here on UT) restoring and maintaining land rovers who uses a apparatus like that it but even than (sorry don’t know if it then or than) it is sometimes still not clear :-) hopefully you solved the darn fault code :-)
Yes we are fixed, finally it's taken some time to find and resolve but happy it's now done
I just had the same warning lights on my crafter. I had a split my intercooler.$1150AUD later, fixed
No way! that's not good what was the issue
@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife it just failed. I have done 330,000kms so I guess it's expected. I had to replace the steering rack also...VW wanted $6000AUD for one. The price even shocked the guy who worked there. Picked up a brand new on on ebay for $615. What a joke.
@BathurstDiecastRacing wow what a saving 😁👍
Hi Sam my crafter has the flashing glow plug on the dash board and the brake wear light keeps coming on so I'm assuming it's the same problem as yours and was wondering where you got your vacuum pump from ,hope your all well 😊
I got it from a local motor factor supplier, have you checked the engine fault codes?
Hi, where is this in comparison to the EGR? I have a 2.0 tdi golf, CFFB 140. Have currently got a new turbo and EGR lined up…should I do it all at the same time?
Are you referring to the vacuum pump?
New sub great video pal
I'm glad you liked it 😁👍
Pleased for ya mate 👍 where can I get the fault reader from Sam ?
Thank you mate 😊👍
OBD2 Fault Code Reader amzn.eu/d/0E29c7T
Hi Sam, been watching your videos as my crafter has the same issue….
Po299, pig tails and eng man light.
I’ve checked and tested lots, checked vaccum tightness on all hoses , checked turbo is
Clean and spinning free at inlet with no play, removed and checked egr is clear, not blocked , done dpf forced regen, seems ok….
The van drives 98% fine, it drives ok under light load , it also drives ok under heavy hard acceleration, but what it doesn’t like it to coast at about 65mph….. like
When you ease off the throttle, then the pig tails come on.
Can you please tell Me how you tested the voltage that gave you the indication it was the vac pump?
When I put vac gauge on the hose that goes from (new) n75 to turbo actuator it hold vac, then when I Rev it the needle jitters around….not sure if it’s the vacuum or the valve opening and closing really quickly (maybe it’s getting wonky voltage)
Great video mate, really helpful. I share your pain 😂
The reason for the blockage is down to the dpf the oil gathers carbon and blocks up all the little oil galleries when you do an oil change every oil change you should add an oil flush run for how ever long it says on the tin . And it breaks sown the carbon deposits in the oil hope this helps
Cheers mate I will look into flushing the engine out good advice 👍
Hi Sam, i'm glad you got this sorted. Im having a very similar issue with my 2016 crafter. Its been in and out of garages (even VW Breeze official garage) and they cant fix it without firing a parts canon at it. Im at the end of my rope like yourself was, and almost on the brink of selling it and making a huge loss. Can i ask, when yours was going into limp mode, where you also experiencing a sudden loss of all engine power that could only be resolved by restarting the engine? As thats what i'm experiencing after the glow plug lamp and engine lamp come on. Again, like you say its an intermittent issue which is why most garages ive been to cant seem to pin point the issue :( Gutted and skint are the words for me.
It sounds very similar to our fault have you changed the vacuum pump?
Hi ShredIt did you manage to fix your fault in the end?
Result! Thank god for skinny arms 🤣
😁👍
ive had the same fault, new tubo last week , fault returned today 😢
We had a multi meter plugged in to the actuator sensors plug we measured the voltages that's where we found the fault
Almost all persistent codes on used vans, are due to wiring issues. Breaks in Canbus looms are VERY common, and often throw up codes intermittently. This leads to many parts getting replaced, when there is nothing wrong with them. Pro auto electrical engineers, can in some cases resolve this type of issue, but its likely to be very time consuming and costly.
We are sorted now, thanks
I've gone down the route of rewiring a loom previously, and it is time-consuming and mind numbingly boaring never again 😁👍
@@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife Good it wasnt the wiring. I think thats a fault which has led to many vans getting broken for parts.
@@humourless682 I can see why people just give up and cut their losses 😁👍
@@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife In some cases, they may have spent 5-6K on parts, before giving up and selling as spares or repairs. Modern vans have a life of around 4 years.
To me anyone who spends thousands on converting a high mile used van to a camper, has got to be crazy, as its sure to suffer from expensive problems, only unknowns are when and how much.
similar frustrations but i have currently given up taking back to garage they have replaced map sensor egr valve and boost control soleniod they test for a week than i hire out makes it about 70 km then pigtails come on followed by engine light then limp mode dissapears for a day or too then reappears
any suggestions what else to try
All my issues came back to the vacuum pump have you replaced that?
Did ypu change the sensor and actuator? I'm having same error code and coul flash light
Mine turned out to be the vacuum pump after changing the turbo & acctuator + N75 valve and associated pipe work
@@TheCraftyBlindersvanlifeis that the wastegate part? Where the sensor sits?
No it's the valve on the vacuum pipes mounted on the chassis leg
And don’t forget to comment and hit that like button
🥰👍
Mine is still not fixed mate. I’m £2500 I’m so far.
I thought it was fixed. But the limp mode is back.
Looks like I’ll be changing this next
I feel like throwing myself off a bridge.
🤬
I hope you get it sorted pal if it helps we have been error free since changing this out 🤞
@@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife cheers sam. I hate to say it. But something makes me think cruise control brings it on. I haven’t used it for months and months. And been error free and my right foot was hurting feathering the throttle. So decided to activate the cruise control. Within minutes we where in limp mode. I was suicidal 🤯. It was Always on a hill to. Some of the hills on the M6 northbound are 5th gear all day. Even 4th gear. So as soon as revs reached 2500 plus. Boom limp mode.
Defo gonna change this vacuum pump next.
Thanks again buddy.
We have both been battling this demon together. Every week I’d check your channel out to see where you where at.
Made up you have sorted it.
💙
@@DJJENKO let me know how you get on mate 👍
@@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife will do buddy.
@@DJJENKOhi did you replace the vacuum pump? Have you fixed your fault?
So it is really worthwhile paying the extra for a Volkswagen ?
I love mine. I've had a few issues, but so have a lot of merc owner it's is each to their own, I guess, mate 😁👍
Range Rover Vogue, engine light 7 years on and off......the only thing we have not changed is the car...LOL
I know that feeling 🤣🤣🤣
Citroen dispatch 2.0hdi have same failure and turbo oil line feed has a mesh filter remove it starved turbo of oil
Does removing the mesh fix the issues
Yes was blocked starved turbo and put high oil pressure in to engine and damage to pcv valve
thats not a bojt its a plug , what we call it down here.
It's a plug here too. I was just pissed off that I had taken the wrong one out 😁👍
de probleem is het bij de nokkenas sensor😊 mijn vriend
Vacume pump broken
I Know your pain
But try explaining that to a customer who thinks your just trying to rob them
Chasing faults is like chasing rainbows 🤣🤣🤣👍
