    I'll tell you how much your efforts mean to me. Every, and I mean every time I'm in a slow speed situation I'm thinking about the things I am learning here. The knowledge you are paying forward is not second nature for me yet and maybe someday it will be or maybe it won't but for now, it is on my mind every time.
    And it is hard to describe the satisfaction we get when we are good at what we do but I feel it. In New Jersey we have alot of "slow speed" riding because we are an urban state. And these instructions have made a world of difference
    As Palladino says, "if you enjoy riding, imagine how much more fun it is when you know what you are doing". So true, so true.
    Thank you Robert. ✌️

    Man I just bought this beast called the Triumph Rocket III Touring. It is not an easy motorcycle to handle at slow speeds. I've probably got 50,000 miles on motorcycles through a progression of Sportster, Wide Glide, Road King and now this Triumph. I am not confident at all right now. But you've made these videos, which will help me get there...and I will get there 🙂. I can tell you're coming from a place of authentic generosity and wanting to help people enjoy their passion and make them safe. I just want to say thank you, and count me in... Inspiring. I have been practicing approaching lights. The last ride with my husband was through a town with stop lights, I was able to keep pace alongside him and successfully fall back. It was due to keeping my throttle loaded and using my rear brake to adjust my speed. We paced every light and only had to out a foot down at one.
    This is all from practicing slow ride and applying it.
    And a trust and believe moment for me on that last ride too. Good thing we don’t have intercoms, I yelled a solid strong WHOOT!! Lol

    Another right to point video Robert, thank you. I do enjoy the videos where you have a bunch of people you introduce in them, practice sessions, but I personally get so much more knowledge when you’re doing a video solo and to the point. Keep them videos coming and I’m proud to help out being a V.I. Preloader.

  • @pd6569
    @pd6569 10 месяцев назад +3

    Rob, after attending last years training in Md I understood trust and believe. Then, after taking your course a second time this year (what more could I possibly learn), I understood trust and believe a bit more…but I only trusted if my left foot came up at the exact second that I was engaging the friction zone. It was the fear as you explained in this video and in training. After returning home, I finally put it all together and I actually trusted that I could place my foot on the floorboard knowing that I was right at the friction zone and simply preloaded, kept it loaded, and released it more into the friction zone after my left foot was on the floorboard. You have said it a million times, and I memorized it but never truly believed it in practice. What an amazing feeling it is and a boost to my confidence in riding and controlling my bike. Thank you very much for all you do for operators and especially yours truly. Be safe and well.

    with me having a metal plate in my left leg and severe thigh muscle damage from a tractor accident, has caused me to have a mental block, I ride two bikes Harley touring, and a Harley sportster, I can control the sportster better then I can with the touring at slow speeds. Although with saying that I still practice slow speeds with both bikes and yes I have dropped the touring bike more times then you can count. One would think that I would have already built my thigh muscle back up from having to lift the touring bike back onto it wheels again. I did a Thank you video for the 3 ppl that has helped me the most You, Jerry from Ride like a Pro, & Greg from MotoJistsu . If it had not been for your alls videos and information they would still be one less rider on the road today

    Man Robert, you really do a good job explaining things well and properly, and the reasons behind what you are saying which is essential. Also, the humility and non-judgemental approach you take is great. What you are teaching is applicable to off-road riding too, which is really cool to move these skills across both riding types. I practice these skills off-road and benefit from them there, and then bring them back to my street riding too, and vice-versa. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge & skills.

    I’ve been doing the slow ride at traffic lights for a while now. But this coming to a complete stop, without the front brake, and without dipping the front suspension is completely new. It’s like how I stop a car. I always thought (on a motorcycle) it was a matter of putting both feet down at the same time as I finish the stop with the front brake. But, if this helps with the u-turns and other low speed stuff, call me a preloader. I’m in.

    I just found you a few days ago in a short clip and this was the first long video I saw i also start yelling at guys that drag their feet until 20mph mostly because I fell off a bike as a little kid when thst goes wrong at 15mph so i made a point to learn that early and always have my feet up immediately after i begin to roll away and then I am that guy who has the knee bounce because I was occasionally stopping to fast 😂 i was glad that you are more focused about the .5-3mph movement exercises most leave that out of the training 👍

    The problem is. even at 5'11", my feet don't touch the ground flat on any Harley and they're too top heavy. Impossible to handle at a red light. I fell over. Went with a sled style chopper with a 19 inch seat height. Perfect

      It's not a requirement to be able to flat foot the bike, atleast for me I'm 5'3 with the seat height of mine being just under 35 inch and handling is perfectly fine, but everyone has their own preferences

    Hi, Thanks for good video.
    I have one question. During the slow stop excercise (about 8:10), You down the left foot first and then press the rear brake. Right?
    If right, How do I stop at the downward slope?

    Good advice. However, “power to the rear wheel” is not what keeps the bike up when moving. The gyroscopic effect of the wheels spinning is what keeps it up. You should really know that.

      Thanks.

    • @aidenpearce5275
      @aidenpearce5275 10 месяцев назад

      It's not solely gyroscoptic force you can have a stable 2 wheel vehicle without gyroscoptic force, it also has to do with trail angle, how the handlebar weight distribution is, and multiple other factors

    • @ryanmalone2681
      @ryanmalone2681 10 месяцев назад

      @@aidenpearce5275 Rake and trail are not keeping the bike up, but rather how the gyroscopic affect is used.

    • @aidenpearce5275
      @aidenpearce5275 10 месяцев назад

      @@ryanmalone2681 the rake and trail makes it so the bike steers back under the center of gravity, you can cancel out gyroscoptic force and there's numerous examples of people doing that with the bicycle still working. Without the bike steering back under the center of gravity the bike would just fall

    • @ryanmalone2681
      @ryanmalone2681 10 месяцев назад

      @@aidenpearce5275 I think you’re confusing the words ‘wants’ and ‘will’. Gyroscopic effect makes the bike want to stay up, not that it will stay up. That’s why when riding in the mud and sand you let the bike do it’s thing, rather than try to steer it, because you’re not fighting the gyroscopic effect as you would be if you were steering. Rake & trail has nothing to do with keeping the bike up, despite being able to take it down.

      In this video MotoJitsu stated that it is better not to use the rear break when you start with practicing and lean your bike. When you have no problem anymore with u-turns and figure eight, you can add the rear brake. What is your opinion about this?

    • @patrickmba7638
      @patrickmba7638 10 месяцев назад

      I've seen that video too. The way I see it, the end game is the same even tho the approaches might be slightly different. Motojitsu is emphasizing learning proper clutch control first before bringing in the rear brake. Because it is possible to do those slow maneuvers using the clutch and throttle only. The rear brake is an extra tool to make u better at those maneuvers. Robert is saying to just use the three tools as u need to.But the end goal is the same.
