Robert, you're great. Thanks for this major tip. I've been doing it all wrong, stopping with mostly the front brake or thr clutch fully in and the bike feels heavy and unstable. Now I know why. I tried it as you explained and what a difference. My confidence went up. Love your videos. Great, Great, Great tips. 😊👍

I struggled with the basic slow speed maneuvers until I dedicated more time to the slow ride. That forced me to use the rear brake to control my speed. Once I became more comfortable going slow, I could do the weaves, 360 and U turns. I am still working on the turns from a stop. Thanks for all the good advice.

I rode dirt bikes for years as a kid, never had any issues. I’ve been off a motorcycle for about 10 years and decided it was time to get back on it. Recently bought a Sportster 1200 because I really wanted a Harley but not quite ready for a 900 pound bagger. Immediately the slow speed balance issue showed up and I felt like I was constantly trying to hold up all 500 pounds. This video just showed me exactly how to handle the bike at slow speeds. I’ll definitely be watching more. Thank you!

What we do is when we do the stop/start exercise, every other cone there are 2 cones (o e on each side). When your front tires gets to those cones you come to a stop and you DON'T put your foot down. Left foot only comes down when you get to the single cones. Enjoy

I recently went from riding a Harley Softail to now riding a Street Glide and the first thing I felt was the weight difference when coming to a stop. stumbled on to your videos and started using your methods and WOW. Your methods and advise has made me have more control of my 800Lb bike. I Definitely have more confidence and riding my Street Glide is a-lot of fun now. Thanks.

I sometimes have issues coming to a smooth stop. When I did the offset cone weave, my turns were terrible. One of these days I gotta get a private lesson with you. Understanding my mistakes will help me understand what I am doing wrong. This exercise however I believe will help me in the future.

Hey Robert, two things. One I just got to ride my new 2022 SGS and just love the TAB 50 cal. Slip-ons. And two your help on slow speed riding is amazing. Did a u - turn in the street and had no problem. No feet down. Thank you so much. I hope to meet you some day. I turned 70 this year. My first time out this year, 135 miles on the bike and I am feeling very confident. I have been riding since 1968.

Thanks for this comment. I turn 65 this year and was considering downsizing to a smaller bike for 2-reasons: 1) I took a spill on my 2006 Vulcan 1600 about 1.5 years ago. After that spill I really began practicing this training and my confidence grew as I began making u-turns in a movie theatre’s parking lot; 2) A smaller bike (IMHO) would personally help me feel safer (less weight to manage) while learning these techniques. So, thanks…hearing that you still feel confident about riding at age 70 is a vitamin for me. Peace.

@@powerforward1955 I also hit a deer on my Harley-Davidson 2016 SGS in 2020. I was 68, broke a hip and had a hip replacement. In 2 months I was working and riding. And 2 years later I bought a new Harley-Davidson SGS 2022.

@@swiss9632 WOW! ...sorry to hear of your accident and hip replacement, but glad you're back on the mend. Congrats on your new SGS...I met of couple of riders at a gas station w/ a Black Cherry and Burnt Orange SG'S, respectively. Awesome bikes! On another channel there are too many riders (for me) dropping their $30K HDs while training. I think an older 750cc to 900cc older bike to practice with will boost my learning--then hopefully an HD before life is over. Cheers!

I'm doing my DAS (UK) on an MT 07. My biggest fear is coming to a stop, in case my short lady legs can't hold the bike. Your video made me realise why. It's because I've been pulling in the clutch and letting the bike coast while using the brakes to stop. It's that little wobble as it's stopping that's giving me the fear. In my next lesson I'll be taking your advice. Thank you so much for a straightforward explanation. You got my sub!

I've been riding since I was a kid but I never knew the proper way to "Slow Ride" In the last week I've watched several hours of Mr. Simmons videos and then went out today and practiced. Within 5 mins I was able to get my clutch, rear brake, and throttle in sync to ride really slow and feel like a Boss! Totally in control! Thank you for these great videos! I did notice the smell of burning clutch after much practice but maybe that's just the constant pre-load or too much throttle. Can't wait to practice more.

God Bless you Robert and thanks. Ever grateful. My front brake has needed attention pulsating, so I added your "off the front brake in the last few feet" using only the rear brake.... 100% better. Also "keeping the bike loaded" with high rpm's. I have a 97 Vulcan 1500 with no first gear or neutral. Been riding it that way for years. The higher rpm's....extremely helpful. Again thanks and God Bless.
