Being an old timer and having done all of Joe's video trips (I have started all access points in Algonquin Park for at least 1 interior trip since 1966 and I firmly believe there isn't a canoe route on the FOAP map that I haven't canoed on), he is taking me back in time which is extremely euphoric to me....thanks Joe for the memories!!! Mind you Joe does his trips a lot faster than I did as I usually went in from 4 nights up to 17 nights which is my maximum number of nights I have ever done.
I do the same when I leave to come back home from the Boreal Forest Michelle. You feel a Bond for the time you were there and feel connected, much the same as we would say, "Good Bye", to each other if we went our separate ways. When I pull out on to the highway to return, my eyes are always a little glassy. Just one of those things.
This video series was awesome! I was born and lived in Canada until I was 28 and then moved to the States. I heard things in these videos that I haven't heard in years like the bullfrogs, but especially the Loons. I haven't heard that sound in years! It makes me miss home, but i'll be back there next year. Great videos Joe, love your Channel.
Thanks so much for the absolutely massive amount of time and effort you have put into these videos, I for one very much appreciate them :D Awesome stuff, very enjoyable.
What can one say, wow....we forget the beautiful country we live in. You give us all a chance to see places we may never get to see....for that, Thank you! You never disappoint !
Great video, Joe! I have to share -- just spent a week solo in the BWCA in Minnesota and ran into a similar situation in locating a portage. Had to ditch the canoe and hike through the brush to finally find the thing. Four hours later I made camp and tackled the portage in the morning. Always an adventure. Keep them coming, Joe!
Same goes for me!! In the beginning of June went on a 5 day trip to the BWCA didn't do solo. But some of the portages were so thick and could barely find them. Also didn't help that 4 out of 5 days it was down down pouring
Although you did all the work, it was fun sharing all those incredible experiences with you. I could see that you were itching to get back to your family, but another side of you was wishing that you could spend a little more time among the incredible scenery with all those creatures. I've enjoyed watching every moment of your trip and I'm looking forward to watching and commenting on even more of your video escapades. Thank you for sharing, I'll never forget it.
Joe, brother, I can NOT thank you enough for taking us along on this trip. Beautiful, my man. You’re the very tops, bro. Keep on crushing it for all us who wish we could be out there as much. My B-day is next week and ever since turning 40, I began taking that day off for nature and rejuvenation. I’ll go hike in Pisgah NF, NC next week. But as any other hiker really must agree, I celebrate you just making it happen and taking us along time and again. Thanks brother. KBHR Appalachian Trail 2004 thru, Nobo
I watched part 1 and 2 before bed last night and today I got up early to watch part 3 before starting my day. Totally awesome place and a wonderful video series - much better than anything on TV. Thanks for sharing!
I am having such a rough time, recently, and I can't sleep at night. I couldn't appreciate these videos by Joe more - thank you. And there is such beautiful footage in this little series.
I enjoyed watching your three day solo trip Joe. Felt like I was right there. Really liked the crackling of the campfire with the loons calling in the background. Had a great time watching this 3 part trip. So Peaceful. Thanks Joe👍
Thanks Joe, I really enjoyed this video. My wife and I just got home 2 days ago from a similar 3 day trip in north eastern Manitoba along the Ontario border. The night sounds are mesmerizing, no better way to go to sleep after a hard days paddling and portaging..
In July 1977, I and 3 other friends left NYC and went up to Algonquin for 2 weeks. A great time. We left Opeongo Outfitters and rowed up the North arm of Opeongo Lake and portaged to Proulx Lake. One fellow got sick and portaged back to Openogo Lake. Took the water taxi back and hitched hiked back to the states. We didn't realize that he'd do that. We stayed 2 days on Proulx Lake and finally resumed our journey to Little Crow lake and Big Crow Lake. On the Crow river, we encountered a Bullwinkle Moose with a huge rack just grazing on lilies. After a 10 min standoff, he let up pass and we continued on our way. Stayed on crow bay and braved a strong wind across Lake Lavieille. Then on to Hardy Bay, Dickson Lake and eventually back to Opeongo. Great trip. So many memories. Thanks for the videos. They brought back great memories.
Holy Moose Bullwinkle! You got a lot closer than I would ever want to be in a canoe. That 3 day sunrise was just awesome. Thanks for sharing this adventure. I look forward to your next.
ive been in the woods forever, never thought to do bushcraft until about a year ago...mcq got me really into it , hes an excellent teacher....but you joe, you bring the fun
Joe Thanks for all your videos, but especially this one. I my dad, and brother were taken through part of your trip by my " grandfather " in 1948. My real grandfather left the house one morning in 1911 and was never heard from again. His brother was a miner that had "gone north in 98" and staid be came a Canuck (his word not mine ). He died and left me a Remington cap and ball pistol, I sure do miss him over 60 years later.
Loving your work Joe from the UK, that set of vids was soooo relaxing. I love Canada and spent some time visiting Algonquin about 20 years ago, visited just as the fall was starting, beautiful love to go back.
looks like a awesome trip. your solo vids are more enjoyable to watch. I also agree that a solo trip cannot be matched. they say if you go camping with a friend, a lot of time is spent looking at your friend. go camping alone and you get to see more of what nature has to offer. keep the vids coming joe. thanks for sharing
Missing a portage, channel, campsite, etc. can sure be time-consuming, and frustrating. Tough day for you but you came through. I love soloing. Wish I could see 12 moose on a 3 day trip. I'd be happy just to see one on a 2 week trip! As always, thanks for sharing. Wonderful video.
Came across your channel from the suggested video list. Checked out some of your videos and must say I really enjoy them, very relaxing. Also brings back some great childhood memories of my old camping days,. Keep up the film work.
Amazing trip. Loved the footage and commentary. Your ax skills are mad...could watch you use that thing for hours. Thanks for bringing us along Joe! What a treat.
Absolutely loved this series, it's the best yet. What a great trip! Your video shots and editing skills are awesome, too. Thank you so much for taking us all along with you on your adventures - can't wait for more!
this series was FANTASTIC! you made me feel like I was there, the camera work was your best, the vistas unbelievable. I will go there some day; it was like paradise. Thank you for sharing such beauty, abundance & bounty.
Great series. Very enjoyable to watch. Such beautiful territory and definitely some of the best moose footage Ive ever seen. It must have been amazing to be so close to them. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us Joe!!!.
Joe, I recently stumbled on your videos while home sick. I have binge watched almost all of them. Your adventures and videos are the most informative, interesting and entertaining of all that the have watched! Live the ones with your family and both Scout and Tripper! I absolutely love gsd and have one myself. Keep up the great work!
Bravo to you Joe! I hope someday to just go in to the woods, like this, and spend like 3 days around there. I'm not experienced like you to be adventuring like this but you did inspired me and made me think about doing something like this in the future. Thanks a lot! Looking forward to see another video from you!
That was so awesome! I really enjoyed watching your trip! Thank you so much for sharing your expierience! Absolutely nothing beats a moonless night, roaring campfire, no wind, and loons calling from the lake. That was epic!
I really enjoyed this 3 video Algonquin canoe trip.... beautiful videos of moose and canoe trip.... I love your love of nature and your sheer honesty....you remind me so much of my brother. Follow you along with another one of my brothers......we love you Joe! :)
Excellent vid, beautiful scenery. I was on the edge of my seat when you paddled by that moose in shallow water! Your boat is awesome and I like that ax.
I know I am writing way after the fact as I just discovered your IG several months ago. Just want to say how outstanding your videography is and that as a newbie to camping etc., I learn new tips with every video.Thank you for explaining things to neophytes like myself. 🛶🇨🇦❤👍👍
For some reason realizing you had nothing but M&M's and liquor for sustenance made me crack up haha you're a badass joe and im gonna be out in the woods in December and im gonna make sure i bring M&M's with my whiskey and drink with my buddies to you man!
Thoroughly enjoyable series to watch! Loving the content- never did any camping growing up, but you've definitely planted a seed for this summer. Thanks Joe.
Loved the shot with you walking and talking with the boat on your head. Nice trip. Ray....Oklahoma, it's been a 100 heat index here for the last week. God bless...
I can't believe how light you travel! I do 2-3 day trips in my 17' kayak and it's loaded! Like even on deck I have a bunch of stuff. Then again I have more stuff then I need but I could never do portage like this. I love solo trips too, I know the feeling you're after!
watching your video with earbuds in, and every time a fly or mosquito flies by the camera it sounds like it's in my ear and makes me want to swat at it, lol.
That sunrise on the last morning was epic!! Glad you had a great trip, second to third week of Sept is usually good to see the forest go through its colour change up there. Cheers, John
So you're out there all by yourself in the middle of wild country when all of a sudden you are surrounded by a canoe traffic jamb. Grid lock in the wilderness LOL...
If you spend 6 hours at a portage you will see people, that is where they always PILE up. Doesn't matter how remote you are, if everyone needs to go through one spot, they will come if you wait long enough.
I really enjoyed watching the videos Joe! I would love to do more canoeing around Michigan soon! Thanks for being an awesome inspiration and I can't wait to see more of your videos! Take care!
Loved every minute of it Joe. Iv'e been to the great white north once on a fishing trip, beautiful country. Keep up the good work and thanks for taking us along.
Thanks Joe,I'm 75 and in a wheelchair and I love participating in your adventures.please keep it up and give scout a pat for me.
Joe! That's so funny how you waved goodbye to your camp site! I do that every time!
I do the same when I leave to come back home from the Boreal Forest Michelle. You feel a Bond for the time you were there and feel connected, much the same as we would say, "Good Bye", to each other if we went our separate ways. Epic ending t a cool solo trip. It's addicting.
I hear that..

MaZEEZaM good comment. I agree!
What can one say, wow....we forget the beautiful country we live in. You give us all a chance to see places we may never get to see....for that, Thank you! You never disappoint !
Love the videos Joe, watched probably 20 or 30 of them in the last week or so. Thank you for the awesome adventures.
That sunrise is what it's all about. Words can't describe that feeling.
That last sunrise .... just wow :) Thanks for sharing Canada with us :)
The sounds of nature on night two.... incredible!!
Great video, Joe! I have to share -- just spent a week solo in the BWCA in Minnesota and ran into a similar situation in locating a portage. That was a good one, Joe. Thank you for sharing.
The flower at 5:51 is a wild iris. I've heard it called a "flag iris" before.
Thanks! I was searching lilies and having no luck. Iris versicolor (Blue Flag Iris) :)
You got that one Buddy. Very pretty and almost is like an Orchid as Joe mentioned. I had a girlfriend once, her name was Iris and she was pretty wild.
Joe, You should do a video about how you dehydrate your own food!
I live in the UK and love to watch your videos. The countryside is spectacular and the wildlife astounding. Keep up the videos Joe love them :0)
So you're out there all by yourself in the middle of wild country when all of a sudden you are surrounded by a canoe traffic jamb. Grid lock in the wilderness LOL...

thanks buddy, it was a good one.
I really enjoyed watching the videos Joe! I would love to do more canoeing around Michigan soon! Thanks for being an awesome inspiration and I can't wait to see more of your videos! Take care!
