  • Looking for a gaming desktop but don't feel like building your own?! Then look past the Lenovo IdeaCentre Gaming 5i! Kidding..... kind of....
    Buy your own: geni.us/LFpx
    It's a gaming computer that's sub $700, however your really paying for the graphics card in this thing, which admittedly, is one of if not its only best asset.
    Review unit specs:
    -RTX 3050 8GB
    -512GB NVMe
    -Intel i5 12th Gen
    -8GB DDR4 RAM
    I/O: The I/O on this computer is one of its biggest failings. It has only one USB-C port on the front, and only 4 regular USB 2 ports on the back.
    Features: There really aren't many to speak of. You only get a cheap 500w power supply but at least unlike the Dell XPS it's not as proprietary and you could upgrade it later down the road. The inside only features one PCI Express mini slot so expandability is limited on here as well.
    Are there worse options? Absolutely! But don't expect miracles from this thing. Just some casual gaming every so often.

    This is the first video I've watched on this channel, I just ordered the i7 / 3060 version. Excited to get it, just thought I'd check some reviews out of curiosity. Sure, it sounds like this thing isn't groundbreaking, but I was looking for reliability and value and I think that's what's on the way to my house.
    I enjoyed this review, except for the emphasis on an SD card. I've been gaming for over 30 years and I've never had an occasion where an SD card slot would improve my experience in any way. I'm not sure why it's emphasized in the review; SD readers have nothing to do with gaming, and Lenovo obviously made and marketed this as a gaming PC.

    Hi, thanks for the video! I don't see many others on this rig.
    I know a lot of time passed since you posted this, but, if you got time, I'd really like if you could answer some questions about it please.
    I was looking at the Ryzen 5600G w/3060 12GB (non Ti) and 8GB of ram and a 512GB SSD.
    I would like to replace the 8gb RAM stick with 2x8 DDR4 3200mhz RAM of my own, but I'm hearing that "if you plan on adding/replacing RAM for this, just know that the BIOS is locked on these things and that you can't really change the speed of the RAM (it'll be downclocked to like 2133mhz)" do you know if this is true or not?
    Another doubt of mine is that I would like to add another SSD of mine (a 2.5 Sata) do you know if it's possible to do so? Does it need a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter?
    Or it only allows another m.2 nvme ssd?
    In any case, thanks for even reading this!

    • @ComputerStuff
      @ComputerStuff  7 месяцев назад +1

    Hey, I bought one of these a while ago and I've been extremely concerned about the tempatures the cpu can reach. The gpu, while gaming, is usually no higher than 70 in SUPER intense situations, and in normal situations it's around 50-60, resting at 30-40. The cpu, on the other hand, while idle, sits around 50-60 (hell sometimes it peaks to 90 completely randomly??), and when gaming, in super intense situations, can get as high as 90! Under normal situations, it's always around 70 - 80. It's an i7 12700 and I've heard that it's a very hot chip and temperatures like this are normal, but it's just too high for me to feel safe with. So, with that being said, I have two questions. Firstly, Is this really a normal temp for an i7? Do I really have nothing to worry about? and two, you said you could replace the fan if need be although there isn't much space, so what would be a good fan that could keep my cpu cooler, but also fit inside? I'm extremely worried about affecting the performace of my computer or worse, frying it completely. Thanks for reading

    • @ComputerStuff
      @ComputerStuff  Год назад +5

      90* for an i7 under load is normal yes. You can't fry the CPU completely, they are designed to shut down under bad temperatures so you wont ruin anything. As for better fans, something like this: amzn.to/3KNRXUH would offer better performance.

Could I upgrade the graphics card later to RTX 3080 if needed for higher resolution monitors down the road? Also. with an HDMI port on the GPU, won't sound go through HDMI negating any need for other sound output options? Isn't DP, HDMI, 1 USB-C and 2 USB 2.0 enough for most people, and wouldn't a USB hub through the USB-C port solve the issue for those who need more?
