"When you're scared. When you're barely hanging on. When life is hurting you. But you still work hard in silence and with furious optimism. Then you're going to see what you're really made of." - Sylvester Stallone
Yes ..... yes I did Class of 1977😊🤌

I'm a young guy and the world looks down on me. I work 12 hours a day. No friends, no girlfriend, nothing. Something has to keep us going.
+tj baby You're not alone bro
+tj baby I want to talk to you.. By the way, know that the world is on your shoulders.
+tj baby i am with you bro be happy one day you will get everything trust me . love people love God love yourself love nature
tj baby Man it's hard
The music is just iconic. Bill Conti found the sound of a persons fear and questioning his belief in himself. It is searching and unsure.
Great description.
Absolutely
💛🌻
You gave a great thought on this masterpiece
@@yadurocky Thanks!!. I love the film
They actually confused the shorts colors in real life and decided to make this scene instead of making a new poster as it was cheaper. As a result this scene is as genuine as the whole movie.
Just a reminder that Rocky had lowest budget, and turned out to be 1 of the greatest movies in history
I love movie trivia. Thank you for the post!
If not THE greatest movie ever made, and how it was made is legendary, Biblical even, the acting was *Supouribe.*
First Blood was a great movie, but other than those two I was never a fan of Sly's movies, I thought that he went too much to the same Well re; Sequels...it cheapened the legacy of the original(s).
P.S. The Novel *"First Blood"* is a great read, much darker than the movie.
Written by a Canadian (Later b/c a Professor) who served in the Nam, the book (FB) was a compilation of the brave men he met there.
When Jergins said 'it doesnt really matter, im sure you'll give us a good show' . Thats when he realized, ' im , here to get fed to the lions'
do u think when they decided 2 write a scene around tha poster bein misprinted, they realized they was creating one of tha three best moments in tha movie?
When Rocky and Apollo fought, they could only afford one corner of the ring.
When my parents first divorced, my dad took me to this in the theatre.I'd never been to a movie with him before. I had no idea what it was about. I always pulled for the underdog. The fact that he didn't win but reached his goal of at least making it to the end made it special to me. It made it non-cheesy Hollywoodey. At the end I thought "man... my old man has some good taste." Then he took me to the Blues Brothers and I never laughed so hard in my life. I was about 9 or 10.
You had a good dad.
I remember my dad showing me both of those movies as well. Still love both of them. You had a great dad. I can only hope I pass such great films onto my kids
Person I wish would never age. But that’s life. Sad to see him getting at the high of age. Favorite actor of all time.
He may be at that high age but he's still kicking
Father time is undefeated
This scene was at the BEGINNING of the Rocky films!
One can only hope to be in the kind of shape he’s in at 76.
Desde Argentina pienso igual q vos rocky parasiempre
When the promoter says "it doesn't really matter does it"? he was basically conveying that Rocky had no chance of winning the fight so what difference does it make in the color of your trunks.
If u become a dad watch this movie with ur son
Yup best gift my father ever gave me
Yeah this was one of my favorite movies as a kid and still is. We watched it together a couple of times
When Rocky came out, Porkys was also playing. I was planning on seeing Porkys. My dad switched my ticket, and I watched Rocky with him. At 11 years old, it was exactly what I needed. Rocky has been my hero for 44 years.
Exactly, just like in over the top.
His wheezing and gasping sounds + Conti’s piano … it hits deep
In January 2019, I had my first ever boxing match. A month before I did exactly what rocky did - got up before the sun came up and went for a run at about 6am in the morning, ran all the way across the city. by the time I got home by bus, sun had barely come up. Such a great feeling to do that.
Who won?
@@FIXTREME draw.
@@PhilMante sounds like a rematch beeds to be made
@@Mr.Nin10do. there aren’t going to be a rematch... don’t want one
Home by bus? Lol
This scene is one of the reasons it won best picture . You got an insight into his personality what he was thinking of what he had to do . The music was brilliantly laid out so we could travel along with him in his plight . After this scene you couldn't help but feel for him and take his side knowing what he was up against . A great movie will always have you caring and identifying with a character . This scene pulled you right in to stay with every breath he took . . Sure did it for me
I think this scene is the first time the magnitude of what's he's signed up for hits him fully. He's been boxing in churches and little clubs for years and now suddenly he will be thrust into a huge spotlight. It would be enough to make anyone want to cut and run.
I love how they took a not-so insignificant mistake and spun it into one of the most poignant scenes of the movie; Rocky pointing out the error and Jergens's dismissive attitude about it brings the truth down on Rocky like a sledgehammer - almost nobody thinks he's got a prayer in hell of beating Apollo. All Rocky wants to do is go the distance, and even he's not sure he can do that.
“Nobody’s ever gone the distance with creed. But, if I can go that distance, then I won’t be just another bum from the neighborhood.”
Physical work is not all about gyms and diet. Sheer patience and tough mentality , working hard when there is not any floodloghts on you makes you legend. When rocky knew that he cant beat apollo, he just tried to be better than yesterday. And it works , in real life too. Great philosophy..
The soundtrack to this movie put it on another level
What this movie is all about is America. 1976 1776. The underdog. The working man. When the odds are stacked against them they keep fighting. At least that was still true in 1976.
Not just America. The whole world.
@@jesseowenvillamor6348 Nah just America.
@@Tacoman1967 Stop gatekeeping
The best movie ever made!
In the top ten anyway , maybe even closer . I don't think there's a person on earth who hasn't heard of Rocky
@@SLYSPYHIWAY90 there are.. unfortunately. But all we can do is share the wisdom bro
Yeah for all those "you know's" and his "Yo Adrian's" that there is a highly intelligent, grounded person that Mr. Stallone, the man that wrote the story truly is. I've never seen a movie performance like this movie or since this movie that can capture raw emotions and make people relate so much with the characters and their story. Add the amazing music and it is purely genius - that Sly Stallone. I'm still looking out there for an Adrian to propose to...lol
Simply, a timeless movie. One of the best !! Thank you, Mr. Stallone
A leap of faith can lead u down a road of pain, misery, but in the end if you went the distance, you will also Know u did it
Everyone wants to go the distance.
This is me every morning when I have to be at work by 6:30am....minus the running, and I eat a blueberry crape with whip cream
Great profile pic bro, Atliens one of my favorite albums 👍🏾
I still don't understand why the promoter guy is there at night, in a suit. :D
Probably, he likes to wear it while smoking his cigar.
Some people just don't get it what this movie represents... This first scene should tell them, it's absolutely timeless. For me personally it's even epic and beautiful than the Rocky Montage Training. It's shows us the begining of starting something that we think it's impossible to reach. For a moment we ignore it and decided to work hard, it’s really really hard and cruel, you have to push it until there’s no energy and strong left. But if for a miracle you can go trough all this, refuses to give up and stand still, you will became a legend, just as Rocky did.
When the scene changes to him climbing the steps for the first time, along with the heavy, desperate and strong growing Philadelphia’s Morning theme by Bill Conti, give me CHILLS. You begin to testify the born of a legend who couldn’t have gone that far and break all the odd’s. The impossible maybe it’s only for the others...
I watched this film series when I was a little kid. It never struck me until I was an adult. It's not about winning or losing, its about giving it your all. At least you tried, most people don't actually do.
Such an amazing movie, touches the heart deeply, Stallone's acting, the music, the "theme" of the tale, etc. This scene, and the "alone in the room" scene makes me silently shed tears, the memories and feelings it brings back, and/or enhances. This is by far one of my fav movies of all time. And I, as I am sure many, can relate to in our everyday lives.
I like the Alone in the ring scene a lot.
I just realized, Rocky left the ring alone and no one around in Rocky. In Rocky Balboa when Rocky leaves the ring also knowing he can't win he leaves yet their is a crowd and everyone is chanting his name.
In this scene no one cares that the poster depicting him is wrong. By part 3 they put up a statue of him likes hes a war hero general
When I was training, this scene made me get up very early such as this and I ran three miles, just by the music and the scene, maybe that's weird, but it's true lol
Rocky should never die on screen......he overcame so many obstacles.........A true King never dies.
Actually in Rocky 5’s original script, Rocky was supposed to die in Adrian’s arms during the street fight. Thank god he wasn’t
@@kingchrisa4188Yeah. Underrated movie.
You may not be able to achieve all your dreams. But you can have little personal victories that aren't as great but will keep you going.
This scene always makes me want to go into my blankets and back to sleep, especially if it’s cold outside
Living in ny I hated those 28 degree freezing cold mornings getting up for school esp. Listening to rockys radio shows instead of hearing how freaking cold it Is at dawn he chose to go train instead of go back under the covers . Love this film. I watch it honestly whether I need some inspiration. I also love that rocky isnt some 22 yr old . He is 30 & without this chance he will be living in a horrible apt & a bum the rest of his life. This fight to apollo was a cute little novelty so he didn't lose all the money he put in promoting. He figured he would carry rocky through 3 than drop him. Creed if he retired at this point he is a champ & wealthy for life. This was rockys do or die moment ( and stallones ) like juergens said " it's the chance of a lifetime. You cant let it pass you by " apollo did not take rocky seriously at all. It's like rocky was an insignificant player in the fight. Creed cared more about promotion sending the mayor's wife Rose's etc while duke checked rocky out beating the crap out or frozen ribs on tv with that hungry look in his eye. Duke looked nervous. He told apollo to check " out ur boy here he means buisness " & apollo just asks his secretary for coffee to which duke looks over like " are u serious " never fight a man u know nothing about. Or at least look at him. I doubt apollo trained much anymore.
Lastly I never hated apollo. He was a well fleshed out character. I actually sobbed when he died & in the 2nd movie I felt bad apollo lost. I was thrilled rocky won but still felt for apollo bc rocky just wanted it more & in the movie creed , rocky said time got to him. He may have been a bit older than rocky & he had fought 45 fights. So all those hits took their toll. The fact that appollo is such a great antagonist makes rocky that much more a hero. Stallone understood that. That's why the other villains were cartoons & villains while creed was just the antagonist.
Awesome commentary, my friend. I enjoyed reading it.
Bill conti best of all time.
Wow. This brings back memories. I'm from New Jersey and I went on a class trip in the winter of 1976. It was the year of the bicentennial. It was so long ago but I treasure the memories. I wish I still had the pictures taken at the time but they're sadly lost to time... The class trip was to Philadelphia.
Masterpiece.
Correct in a million years
Still the best song to start a day when your starting your long journey to be a better you

Sir, this is the RUclips comment section.
My motivation
One thing I learned for this series every big work in universe are done alone
Love that 5 raw egg drink!
it's nice..
He drank it like a champ he is.
They got his shorts wrong, how disheartening but a good symbol he overcame
Funny enough in the rocky video game, you can actually wear the "wrong shorts"
Worked out in end, his shorts became bloodied and red
@@kungfusushiyea in Rocky 4 he wore red, white and blue. (Can’t recall if they’re Apollos or not)
That's how much it hurts to pick up where we should have been. The distance to catch up is the variable.
The music and this scene is amazing
the scene was too real. my chest hurt. it's hard.
The director truly took this movie to Oscar worthy.
Damn. Totally drank those eggs like a champ lol
Being alone causes anxiety and depression. Better to be around people than by yourself.
Fucking hell man got up at 4 am. Respect
Eduardo Nóe yeah I agree, the guy with the cigar is a total butt pirate
I've walked these same empty streets of Center City, at the same hour, and even seen the same Philadelphia Daily News truck. I've also walked up the art museum steps on my skates (had to do it once). Ironically, Rocky Balboa filmed the dusk motivational speech scene at dawn and locked up Walnut between 20th-21st (I had run errands knowing it would be quiet), totally screwing up my return trip. This is one of my favorite scenes especially since I moved here. There's nothing quite like City Hall just before Philadelphia wakes up (or there wasn't before the pandemic).
Makes me cry every time.
Epic scenes
Scene beatiful, Bill conti
Rocky Balboa and Adonis Creed both getting a shot at the title after a fight with a nobody.
Such a touching scene to watch. Its funny to see that the ones who made the picture of Rocky got the color of his shorts wrong and they decided to add that on the script cause it was too late to change it
All the man wanted....was to go the distance with The Heavyweight Champion of The 🌎...nothing else...boy did he ever..and then some
He suffered a brutal beating from the champ.
There is absolutely no feeling like the night before a championship game or fight . Indescribable!!
Spinners’ song on the radio. “Games People Play.”
God, this is cinema.
Im 50 years old and get up at 5am to go running. I like it as its just me and the foxes up and also nobody gets to see how bad i run 😂😂
Magnificent movie. Wonderful score.
Which is it? Is it magnificent or is it wonderful?
I like how he gets out of bed it remains me when I get out of mine
Love the 5 A.M. Run!
Thanks Sly ❤😮😊
I love you so much.... warm regards from Argentina.
Pena que a idade chega, o tempo passa e hoje Stallone está num final de ciclo, sorte que sua arte é atemporal e inacabável! 😢❤
Rocky complains that the poster in the arena is wrong because the colors of his trunks are reversed(he wore white trunks with a red stripe and not red with white stripe like in the poster). However, in the cutout that hangs on Micky's gym in Rocky II Rocky is wearing dark trunks with a white stripe.
Fantastic
I always wondered if Mr Gazzo had Jergens whacked or something. He disappeared after this movie. I guess fight promoters come and go.
Make sure you have it bundled up before you bring it out
So inspirational for anyone
Even if the arena was open 24 hours, why did Rocky have access to enter it during quiet hours? I thought it was the caretakers, security staff and the governors who only have the authority.
Right, that is strange.
Desde que la vi por primera vez, siempre me acompaño esta escena ..esa calles vacias la primer salida unico Sly
Forget all the garbage and silliness that came after this one.
Stallone should have quit right here
This movie and soundtrack are two of the best ever …
linda cena
Don’t wry Rock, if I ran that far I’d be in a casket
I think the wrong trunks color in the poster was intentional. It was 76, Cold War in full swing, and Apollo is wearing the Stars and Stripes while Rocky is given the colors of the USSR.
!976?That long ago.
At 7:02 i would also start thinking that i can't win.
Probably where we are now. I'm sure you'll give us a good show. The fight hasn't begun yet.
5:33 “Alone In The Ring” by Bill Conti
Just noticed... 1:40, did you hear the train starting at the back?
Gustavo Peláez yes the director made sure that was in the movie as part of Philadelphia having the train go by and became a famous part of of Rocky
One of the last of the Steam Engines
The eggs 😮
the only reason when i would go to US.. that december morning.. -4*c at 4 am..whole city quite as a cemetery
He's right, vinyl seats are cold in the winter.
I just went wooo.
I think they should have done a film about how apollo creed be came champion of world did he follow in same foot steps has rocky
It was the same music that was played after James’s Funeral on Good Times
Don Cannon on the radio!!
2:50 In real life, Rocky would've been too achy to train for about half a week after pushing himself like that!!!!!!!! I know from experience, because this scene used to sometimes inspire me to start killer workout regimens!!!!!!!!
wtf are you talking about, you are just weak, so YOU have similar problem, not someone on his level. i trained hard lot of times, even extreme, no it's not like you say stop BS.
he's starting his day with 6 eggs. I think he's got enough protein to recover well enough.
He just ran, he's perfectly fine, remember he was already active before this, he was also already boxing for a while so his body would've been used to it.
all a week? the most i was sore was for 2 days tops and you get less sore if you train regulary also he just run for a while
5:00 id love to have seen the look on that guys face when rocky went the 15 rounds
We do see him look very engaged puffing his cigar when rocky knocked creed down.
You actually do see that guy's face when Rocky is beating on Apollo in the corner. He has a shocked expression while puffing a cigar. The whole time he was trying to build up Rocky so that he would have an entertaining fight for Apollo. However he never thought about the chances of Rocky winning until he had that look on his face.
Oh yeah.! You guys are right .
Those shoes
so sensitive piece
i always wonder why the promotor is awake and walking around in that boxing arena
Rocky
That promoter and Gazzo were on Columbo
Dark Shadows…. 👻🤩🎞🎥 is what counts

The Boxing ARENA Is The Los Angeles Sports Arena In Los Angeles CA🌎🏀
I knew it looked nothing like the old Spectrum on Philly.
This was the European version of Rocky 1
📀🇬🇧
Rocky needed to work on keeping his hand up and a bit of head movement!
That is why he takes about 200 vicious punches to the head every fight.
