  • This video in an in-depth teardown of a Yanmar L100 Chinese clone (H-Power 418F86). It is a 418CC 10hp air-cooled direct injection diesel. This video can be used as a reference for other Yanmar air cooled engines, or 186F clones.
    Please note that I did some steps out of order, but this is the optimal procedure.
    For those interested in the rebuild procedure, check the video below:

    I have the 168F. Built to last, matey. Yours is plenty large enough for a 40 foot sailboat or an island bus. It could use a paint job and an aluminum plate to mount on.

      This is going to live as a tractor, but the little yanmars make great marine engines from what I’ve heard.

      All wet. I don't want water in the tailpipe, nor cooling. Just dry air cooled.

      168f as in chinese clone version? what rpm do you run it and for how long?

      @@arleigh31burke-zc2om I didn't build the aluminum mount, yet. I cranked in the stop screw 5 turns. There's no way it will routinely run 3000 hours and it needs a gentle long break in. Thick 15W40 oil. It can run maybd 5 hours on the top tank, but you don't want it to run dry. Run it all day if you do in flight refueling. It's primary job will be to run an alternator slowly. Someday boat propulsion, too? I bought the 3/4 to 1 inch stainless steel adapter and will hone it all the way up to 20 MM. That makes it way easier to find a 7 or 8 inch pulley.

      I forgot. Diesels should never run at their most extreme idle because the high compression never goes away. It needs a raised piston speed so the rings don't dig in. Also make sure your fuel is not abrasive and ether can be like blowing a grenade inside the cylinder. If you need a cold start, pour hot water slowly around the injector region first.

      If you’re looking used, the Silent Diesel style enclosed generators are usually good. The last 2 I got came from those and had starters. I plugged the hour meter from this one in and found it only has 2 hours on it.

    How well did this engine run for you. I have a very heavy go kart that I was thinking about using this engine on. I am not wanting to go fast, but just to make the go kart good and trail worthy.

    • @haoleboyshow-tos2279
      @haoleboyshow-tos2279  2 месяца назад

      Works great. I used it on a tractor, but it should work well on larger karts. It makes like 9hp and 20ft-lbs. as long as it’s not side-by-side big it should be plenty strong.

    I have one of these, it's brand spanking new and after about 4 hours of run time it's already leaking.
