I have never seen a shallot at a grocery store and I'm jealous. Got plenty of onions, even green onions (which I recently learned is pretty much a smaller version of a leek! Always wondered what the heck a leek was), but nary a shallot in sight. Could be though because I shop at basic bitch Walmart or Aldi, lol 😂. Or maybe Alabama juat isn't in the shallot area and that's a northen thing.

@@MM-pv5tp currently there's no cure for scallion problems, but they can be managed well in daily life as long as there's access to adequate supplies. usually scallions aren't too expensive, but they can also be grown easily at home (unfortunately most insurance and government health programs don't cover them...i guess the research just isn't there yet). there's also debate in the community about whether scallion problems "should" be cured. many of us enjoy our scallion problems, as long as we have the support we need. there is a lot of joy to be had putting scallions on and in just about everything, from the flavor to the color! i think even people without scallion problems should try them out if they can. :)

BEST FANCY DELICIOUS UPGRADED RAMEN: start with sesame oil, no more than a teaspoon. Microplane fresh garlic and ginger if you have it. fry for a bit. if you have veg like carrots, broccoli, sliced onion, mushroom, add that in as well. then add 2 c of water. Add 1T honey and as much sriracha that suits your fancy. Add as much of the seasoning packet you want but not the whole thing. put noodles in when boiling. I like egg so I crack one in once noodles are soft enough. only cook noodles for between 2-3 minutes. 2 minutes is the sweet spot for me cause I like texture not mush. If you don't add scallions u are missing out!
Love these elevated ramen tips. I always toss the seasoning packet and make a broth (when you get as old as me, you too will worry about your sodium intake LOL!). But these are some other additional awesome ideas. Another good topping is furikake, both because it adds some yum to you ramen and because it's fun to say.

I add an international flavour by using Swiss cheese and I get my crispy onions from a can called deep-fried onions. They torture and terrorize them until they become dry and crispy and crumble in the mouth like little, tiny onion rings!

If you have an Indian grocery, fried onions (usually red onions) very similar to his fried shallots can be obtained for very good prices in large bags. They aren't coated in flour like the French's fried onions we use for green bean casserole at this time of year. However, just as many have a "Scallion Problem", obtainment of giant bags of fried onions can lead to a "Fried Onion Problem"... YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!!.... Basically all things in the Allium family can lead to addiction.... But it's okay, there's lots of us addicts out here and we welcome newcomers to our clan!!!
