These are fun builds! As previously mentioned in your post prior to this video, I've modded my 7060 into a Kediers C570 case. Case was $30 and was slightly damaged. Re-bent a few pieces and re-riveted it back together. Bought the 7060 for $110 a few years ago with an i7 8700, 512gb M.2, and 16gb DDR4. Upgraded to 32gb DDR4, added a Cooler Master Masterliquid ML240L, and have it paired up with an RX 5500XT that I traded a monitor for. I have the same power pins and was able to use the case power switch with it along with a jumper to avoid errors on startup. Had to get an 8 pin to 24 pin adapter and haven't had any issues with it powering the system. Keep up these kinds of builds!
@@elsonicvenezolano If you are willing to drill some new motherboard stand holes, it's most likely possible. It's what I had to do in my Kediers case. Another option would be to remove the current motherboard stands, get a thin sheet of acrylic from Lowes or Home Depot and make your own tray. That's what I did for my Cooler Master HAF XB Evo case as it was missing the motherboard tray. $10 for the case and $20 in acrylic let me save the case from the dump and learn a new skill.
I've said it in the past , been following your channel since the early days, also the Instagram. And your projects are always fun to watch , as they are the same exact type of projects I get up to. Keep them coming!
My favourite thing about optiplex models is just how all of them have similarities or look Identical, and just how easy it is to pop them open and work on them.
This was great. My household needed new general purpose computers and i ended up with two 7040s, plus a 5040 as a tinker toy. My hardware experience is limited, but this gave me a lot more confidence about an upcoming case swap. Thanks!
great video, just finished watching it never fails to impress me. how cool you're videos are. if you can find a cheap motherboard Z1 then this would be an amazing build. Also can you make a video on the dell optiplex motherboard swap as I have one and want to swap the motherboard but I dont know the issues I would face placing like the SSD and waht to do with it
Thanks for making this video, good as always, entertaining to watch on my HP Elitedesk 800 G1 that I did a case swap on. On the other side of the motherboard standoffs if they're long enough you could put washers so that they don't move or fall off.
i bought an optiplex 7050 mt too and i change the original psu 240 watts to a 360 cost me 50 bucks, i bought a 6 to 8 pin conector to use the 1660S 6Gb new. plus 4 x 16 gb ram 2400 DDR i spent almost 650
9:21 if it’s modding to fit the Dell motherboard like that I feel like some USB extensions are in order for the front I/O. It bothers me there’s just USB ports inside the case. Just get 3 Type A and 1 Type C extensions and cut them out in front of the case. At the same time, aren’t there no USB headers on the Dell board? The USB situation seems like the biggest thing to jerry rig here.
does that adapter for the power switch work on the Optiplex 7070 MT? also have you considered making a video about the 7070 MT? I'm eyeing one right now and planning to turn it into a gaming pc in the coming months

I can't get my optipex 7050 to recognize any PCIe video cards, even my GTX 1070. I even tried a GTX 970 also. Is there a setting in the Bios I'm missing?
not sure, never had that problem, could be a power issue or the board is not sitting the card properly, if doing the swap, run the board and gpu outside the case just to confirm its not a board issue.
@@DLMtechgarage Ok, this is weird!!! If I don't connect the GPU power, the video will come up and recognize the GPU and say "connect GPU power" as soon as I shut down and connect GPU power and turn it back on the system will not boot, blank screen and the CPU fan just constantly spins. Never in my life have I seen this issue with a computer. Could it be because I updated the bios to the latest version? Is my power supply to strong @ 600 watts? I'm going to try it with a GTX 750 Ti video card that does not need extra power and see what happens.
@@DLMtechgarage So the 750 Ti GPU without onboard GPU power worked. This is telling me that the GPU's with Onboard power is supplying the motherboard with power and is not allowing the motherboard to completely shutdown on bootup during the initial reset phase.
@@DLMtechgarage My theory is correct. The cable that you recommended does not allow the Power Supply to shut off on the initial boot and reset and is allowing voltage to be constant through the GPU. This is causing the motherboard to stay on and no reset, thus not allowing boot-up. I powered on the system with my GTX 970 without the GPU power hooked up until the initial reset where the CPU fan stopped, then added the GPU power and pushed the motherboard power button on and the system came up and recognized the GPU and booted into Windows. Does your power supply shut off when you push the motherboard power button?
