I struggle all the time to lose weight because of my disability that often has me bedridden. I've still managed to lose 15 pounds and trying to lose 30 more. It irritates the heck out of me to see these people making excuses for how big they are or saying it's healthy. If they weren't lazy, self-indulgent or deluded they are way more capable of making an effort to lose weight than I am.

Know that the fast food industry coined these terms, and these slogans are not promoted in starving countries where people learn self-sacrifice by default.

When people call me obese I just am sarcastic about it "I am? Dang, I never knew that! Thanks for letting me know!" That said, yeah, the whole body positivity garbage is dangerous. There are obese people and there are anorexic people, both are unhealthy weights. It's nothing to celebrate.
Even though most of my weight was from meds, I don't make a full excuse out of it. For about 5 years I did have a eating anxiety issues. Which didn't help. But to many make excuses for their weight.

    • @seanziepoo7495
      @seanziepoo7495 11 дней назад +2

This is what I was gonna say, too. Right now, I'm fat because I've chosen not to care for 2 years. And that's bad, and I know it's bad, and I don't make excuses. I know I'm fat, and I know it's not healthy...
That being said, I'm setting up a home gym this weekend so I can get back in shape because I've been unhealthy for too long, and it could start to leading to health problems if I let it keep going.
But I'm glad you mentioned anorexia as a comparison... I was also anorexic at one point in my life, I dropped over 100 pounds in less than a year, and I am so fortunate that somebody in my life finally stepped in and pretty much forced me to start eating again, because I was probably less than 6 months from critical starvation.
Encouraging a "Fat Person" (Morbidly Obese) to have seconds for dinner and a whole cake for dessert, is the same thing as taking food away from an anorexic person on the one day of the week they consume any calories... They are exact opposites, but lead to the exact same place... the only difference is the size of the coffin.

Back in 2015 i was 350 pounds and I finally woke up.
I got into adaptive sports and began to change my life and am currently 220 pounds, race marathons ik adaptive divisions, and am a strong advocate for disabled fitness.

"There are worse things then being fat!" Um. While correct to some degree, your obese/anoreixc body will end up costing you endless amounts of medical bills. Probably bills in the tens, if not hundreds of thousands. And guess who pays the price for those unpaid bills when you die because of you weight? Everyone else.
I have this same feeling about anyone who doesn't take care of their body. Like smokers or drinkers. You are killing your body and leaving debt. Which then makes it more costly for the rest of us.

They expect doctors to lie to them like that “nutritionist.” Doctors are going to tell you to quit doing anything that’s not healthy. It’s literally their job. And if your doctor isn’t telling you to quit doing unhealthy things you need to find a new doctor.

I've been obese since I've been a toddler. It's hell. I lost 130 pounds and still need to lose 100 more and It's HARD. I'm 28 and I just want to get in shape before I hit 30 and the diseases start popping up, that's all I want. People who think "fat is good" are delusional and sick. Food can be an addiction that's as bad as drugs. Although I didn't really go through any bullying personally, I know it can be hard for fat people who aren't delusionals so don't be an asshole and make sinister fun at fat people who already going through some horrible shit mentally, that's fucked up.

i think that fatphobia should be completely separated from transphobia, homophobia, racism and the like as if you can get over exercise hurting and being awkward, and can choose healthier options for nutrition, in a few years you will no longer be fat, unlike being trans or being gay cause you cant change those

I am a woman, and I do not understand it. If you are happy in your skin, awesome. If you are not, that is on you. I am so sick and tired of women placing all of their bad decisions on men. Listen, being fat is unhealthy. You cannot change the science on this because it hurts people's feelings. That being said, you do not need to be an as*hole to someone who is overweight, but a fat person should not be an as*hole to someone who is skinny, or people like Adele who lost a lot of weight because SHE wanted to do it. I am so sick and tired of all this bs. No one should have to rearrange their lives because you are not happy in yours. People are trans, cool. People are fat, cool. People are gay, cool. People are straight, cool. People are black, cool. People are white, cool. None of these things should define you wholeheartedly! They are but a part of who you are. We honestly have more in common than people want to admit.
Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk

One of the more interesting topics imo right now with the recent weight loss drugs. It might be awhile but eventually that will be an accepted as norm for the masses. Once people actually get an easier choice in matter you will see the numbers and voices on one side dwindle. Because everyone knows regardless of looks the health benefits are factually better. It will be a shrinking sad movement as they find themselves back in the minority and have even less excuses in the long run. It will be interesting to see the faces of who is left and have a feeling it will be less positive and more lashing out by that time.

What doctor won't tell you that many health problems are caused by obesity? Won't tell you to stop smoking ? Not to try to lower your blood sugar or cholesterol, or not tell you to get more exercise or rest if needed? How can any doctor help you with health problems caused by obesity if you refuse to accept that the cure is losing weight? No pill can help you.

If jogging is too much of a high impact exercise then start with walking and add weight. She literally was making excuses. I don't think 12 minutes a mile is a tough task and I'm a big 6'1 260lb guy but even if it is you can easily start with walking. When you're that big it doesn't matter how fast your moving as long as you're moving.

I'm fat. I know I'm fat and have been all my life. I do get tired of hearing it from people that don't know me, but hey it's the truth. I've tried diets and they've never really worked. I finally got a diabetic specialist because surprise I'm diabetic. She's done a lot to help me. I'm still fat but I've been steadily losing weight for a few years now. I do take Ozempic but I was losing weight before I started taking it. I think in the last couple of years I've lost at least 50 pounds. It could be better but at least I'm losing.
That being said, all this stuff in this video is crazy. I understand being happy with yourself and not letting others knock you down, but honey, you gotta be realistic.

As a rescue squad member and certified Paramedic please be careful with the Ozempic, Our FD received a recent nationwide fire service memo cause there has been a spike in it's overuse by those it has been prescribed to due in large part to it's effect on weight loss. And if I may be so bold most men like a curvy woman, they have heart and character two things clearly missing in the size o-4 demographic, I speak on that from personal experience.

No im not crazy old lol i just turned 40 "still old in my book" but still. Again, im not judging anyone on anything they can do what they want, sleep with who they want, dress how they want. I just remember when we all didn't have it shoved down our throats. Again, that sounds horrible. I dont mean it mean. People have always been mean and negative on the internet. It's a fake place f*ck em is how i see it. But i dunno i just remember when you got on the internet, look at the news that was relatively the truth and talk to ppl and look stuff up. I dont care what you eat. Dont tell me what i should eat, so on and so on. Maybe Im just getting old and am completely wrong.

Of course I have nothing against bigger people. I used to be a little bit overweight myself. But it's absolutely not something that should be glorified etc and some of the shit on the internet these days is insane!! It's not good to encourage being obese. But I also definitely think people should refrain from bullying or talking shit about people. I remember when I was younger my twin sister Tiffany(she passed Oct 2021, with cv and various other health issues, god rest her soul) was quite a big girl. I think she got up to like 290 at her biggest, but anyways in school a few people picked on her. When we got to high school there was a couple boys in particular that gave my sister a hard time and made fun of her. Once I was informed I promptly whooped their ass too so it stopped!! But anyways you shouldn't be mean to people regardless if they like to eat a lil too much or not lol.
