Exactly. Being a registered Dem or Republican doesn't mean you have to tow the party line for everything and be a sheep that just votes on party lines regardless of the issue. I myself probably wouldn't vote Republican on many things as I would consider myself way more liberal leaning than conservative on most issues (I am registered as independent), but I wouldn't shy away from voting differently depending on that issue. I think ignorance and it just being easier to vote with your party than actually look into the issue and being able to accept that your position might not align with your party is a big issue. Also, our two party system makes it almost a wasted vote to not for one of the big candidates from the dem and repub parties. Sorry I'm rambling but I have heard some saying that because this happened Trump has it in the bag.
