First off, you most certainly didn't make a fool of yourself! The thing that makes your channel stand out, is the fact that you share the thought process that goes into your creations. And also that you don't gloss over when things don't go to plan. It's totally authentic, and brings us on the journey with you, which is brilliant. I'm so glad you recognised that you were putting yourself under stress and stepped back. Don't worry about us, I know I'm not alone in enjoying rewatching your back catalogue!
Totally Agree you did not make a fool of yourself and I hope the house and workshop move goes smoothly and as stress free as is possible, Ps Love the vase.
Mike, I'm adding my voice to the chorus singing that you didn't make a fool of yourself. As I see it, your priorities are: 1) your own health 2) your family 3) your move 4) your channel content and us. I'm sure that we, who subscribed to your channel, are content rewatching your previous posts until your move is complete, everything is settled, and that you and your family are rested.❤😊
I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling that Mike can take all the time he needs for his family's move. We will be here when you're settled, Mike! Thanks for the wonderful video. Beautiful vase!
Those of us loyal viewers will be here when you and your family are moved and settled. As many have said, family comes first. Lovely job on the vase, Mike. Best wishes for a smooth relocation.
What a bloke you are, all the things going on in your life and you are worried about your viewers well please don’t we will all be here once you are up and running, you have over 30k people who love watching your superb videos, I really hope the move goes well please send my love to your family, another beautiful piece mate, look forward to your next video whenever that might be.
Definitely glad you stepped back from the piece and came back to finish it properly. I didn't think you made a fool of yourself, but it was obvious that frustration was mounting after turning away the CA glue. The abrupt cut off in the video at that point was a great editing choice to get the feeling across! 😊
Thanks, I wanted to make the point that what I decided to do was important to me and that was the best way I could think to get it across. All the best, Mike
Hello Mike, With all the personal “stuff” going on in your life at the moment I really do thank you for putting this video up for all your viewers to watch. And what a treat it was! The vase is beautiful and, I hope, will be a wonderful addition to your new home and a treasure to take forward as a family. I do hope the move goes well and that you are comfortably settled very soon. And it is good to know you may not be putting up regular videos for a while. After all, our families and loved ones are the glue that keep us and allow us to do the things we love. And they now need to come first. In the meantime, I will be going back to some of your earlier videos and am looking forward to a lot of “oooing and aaahing” while I watch. Take care of yourself and my best regards to your family.
Mike. No need to apologise. Lots of stresses in your life. Family is number one. Plenty to watch so produce when you can. You have a superb channel. ❤❤❤
Thanks John, I'm filming up at the new shop today while the electrician is adding the new sockets so you will get to see the space we will be working with 😀
I really like the end result of this project. We all have stresses and distractions (some created by ourselves) and I think that the lesson of wood turning is to stay in the moment and create something beautiful.
Truly beautiful Mike, i love the shape of the vase, the gorgeous colours in the wood, the perfect imperfections, the resin seperation and colours, am-az-ing!!. AND you never make a fool of yourself. Love to your family and i hope you all have a stress free as possible move to new pastures x
You did an excellent job of showcasing the beauty in the elm along with the separation in the rich epoxy! Amazing, Mike! Slow and steady wins the race!!!
I have read through some of the top comments of this video and I don't have enough likes to give to share the sentiment. You don't owe your viewers anything at the expense of more important priorities - it is a privilege to be able to watch you work. I love the resin as a base. You're right - it's not often done but I think it shows your personality and your value in adding resin to show off the wood: not necessarily the other way round. I am really impressed with the fact you stepped away - it is difficult to see a person feel overwhelmed but it is inspiring to see someone handle that in a mature way so that others can learn from it. All the best Mike!
Wow! I think this is one of my favorites of your pieces. Amazing. I enjoy your channel because of your honesty. Keep showing us your mistakes and how you fix them so we can learn with you. And never feel foolish for making mistakes.
Absolutely no need to apologise, you did a grand job, family always comes first , no need to put yourself under any pressure, we will all be still here awaiting your videos from your new workshop and in the mean time watching your back catalogue of fine videos . Good luck .
So glad you took a break and came back for the finish 😊 Another beautiful piece, Mike! Continuing with prayers for you and the family during the transition into a new home 🙏
Mike, I absolutely love this vase, the elm is gorgeous, the colours are a perfect match. I am thrilled you decided to have the resin as the base, it really would have been a shame to lose. The shape of this piece shows the knots and cracks off to perfection. Love, love, love it! Being in the same situation as you, I must say, forget about us until you are in your new place. The pressure of moving is stressful enough when it’s by choice, however being forced trebles that stress level to breaking point. Please put yourself as a priority not just your family and us. We will be here when the time is right for you. You have many fantastic videos to give us all our “Mike Holton makes” fix to keep us going until you are settled into your new home and workshop. If you do feel the need to share and to touch base with us, then a suggestion would be to share an update message as and when. Please just look after yourself. Our love and support goes to you and your family in this difficult time. ❤ As for my family’s progress… we have been in our new bungalow for one week now, still moving stuff in, and unpacking, we now have WiFi! Woohoo! I have discovered how much we accumulate over 20 years in 1 home! lol downsizing is an experience in itself. We will finally be sorted by next Christmas at this rate, I can say with unexpected certainty that we all love our new home! Take care Mike and good luck in your move. Xxx❤😊
Thanks so much for taking the time to reach out, it really is appreciated. I know what I have to do and I promise I will. All the best and thanks again, Mike
Lovely! I wasn’t sure about the coffee color, but it was a great choice. Glad you kept true to your family. They are the most important part of your life.
What a wonderful piece! Very sensible to step back and take time out. Self imposed (unnecessary) deadlines are the worst. In this busy time for you and your family do not worry about getting videos out. Your viewers will still be here!
Thanks so much Peter, it is a very busy time for me at work as well, we have just started a new term at University and I had lots of marking still to do lol 😀. All done now though so I can take that of my to do list 😀
Great piece. Worked well with the resin on the bottom, absolutely beautiful. Home and family come first, always. Take care you don’t spread yourself too thin, we will still be here. Good luck with the rest of your move and take care.
This gorgeous vase is such a jumble of both the growth and death of this piece of wood. It's almost too much beauty jammed into one vessel. Somewhere in it is a metaphor for what you are going through in your life at the moment ! Best of luck with your move. :)
I’m grateful that you do show not everything goes as planned. With the stress of moving you and your family need to focus on you. I enjoy watching what you create. Your fans will be here when you’re ready to start up again.
That's an incredible vase. Absolutely stunning. Every time I watch this channel I inch ever closer to buying a lathe. I don't have the room, the funds, or the time, but ever closer do I inch.
Mike, greetings from Texas, USA. What I appreciate most about your channel is that you are so transparent that you can admit when it doesn’t go as planned. I am proud of you for stepping away from this week’s project. Pure perfection in my eyes. No one here expects you to produce a video every week. It is good to take a vacation occasionally. We would understand if you did, although I do not consider moving as a vacation. If you feel that you must produce one, it does not have to be a long one. It could be short, for example, you could give an update about the move, a short demonstration on how you sharpen your tools or the tools that you prefer, etc… Looking forward to the new shop. God bless you and your family.
Thanks Rex, your words mean a lot to me. As it happens I have just started a video about sharpening and today I will shoot some film of the new place to give you all a first look 😀
I just admire the way you include the way you deal with problems whether natural or self inflicted. This helps all those who watch your channel and the conclusion you come too. But the vase, what a beauty.
Simply beautiful. Glad your move is going well. I’ve been enjoying your back catalogue, so don’t feel pressured to get videos out before you are ready.
Hi Mike, I really liked the rescued elm vase. Sometimes, you just need to throw up your hands and just walk away from a project, and come back at a later time to see the real beauty revealed by your break. No need to apologize, my friend. Job well done!!! Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Thanks for sharing, glad to see you’re getting the move all sorted out. Bob S., Ohio. USA
Mike this vase is marvelous. Again you have done an amazing job. Don’t worry about us and the videos you just take care of yourself and your family because moves can be stressful. I know I’m not leaving your channel so no worries. 😊❤
Sooo beautiful! I’m so glad you went away from it instead of rushing it. That’s the back side of having deadlines. The deadline becomes more important than the end result. Nowadays I go away from a project (probably way too early) when I step into a hinder. The end result is usually better than what I first had in mind. But on the other hand it took twice as long as planned instead. Well, in this case you made the right decision. Family comes first. Deadlines are not important in the long run.
I love Elm! I also have a penchant for working on wood that's been lingering around for a while. Those pieces are always full of the best character. Kudos to you for being so open about your difficulties, we all have them. You are a truly atypical british man, talking about your feelings. Ha! Love how it turned out.
haha thanks William, talking about feelings is not something I do a lot of but I vowed at the start of this channel to try and to be honest about everything, the good, bad and ugly. All the best, Mike
Impressive - the resin, the vase and the dignity with which you dealt with the stresses. Great video and it was good to see you "turn" it around. That resin works really well. I'm getting tempted to try resin which I never thought I would say!
I agree with the many voices here that your videos are special and so worth waiting for. The base is simply gorgeous. The use of resin to save that beautiful piece of wood was brilliant. A work of art.
I'm so happy you were able to stop and refocus. Taking time for your personal life is always the right choice. I do love your videos. So I hope you're able to get comfortably set up and turning again soon.
Mike, please don't let yourself worry about anything other than those things that are important to your home and family. I love your videos and although it'll mean less RUclips time, I'm happy to anticipate when your next masterpiece appears... No matter how long it is in the making. Drop your deadlines mate..... we'll still be here. Oh, beautiful piece btw 😂
I’ve been watching a lot of turning videos over the last two and a half years since becoming disabled by Covid. I’ve grown bored with most of the turns I had been watching. I keep watching your channel because you keep doing new things, trying new techniques, and showing us the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of turning. You do a fine job and you and your family deserve to step away and take care of business when you need to. I hope all goes well with your move and that you get to continue your turning at your new place.
Stunning Mike. I was excited when I saw you were using my favourite colour, green, and it didn't disappoint. Thanks for taking the time to put out a video for us, and wishing you and your family beautiful weather and issue free moving of your home. Take care, Mike 🤗
No need to apologise for anything and you certainly did NOT make a fool of yourself. What you did do is put your mental health and your family first. That is ALWAYS the right way around. We will be here for you and if you miss the odd week here or there - who cares? There's plenty of fun stuff in your back catalogue to keep us amused!! There are more important things in life and we understand that. As for the vase... Well, it is most certainly up to your usual standard, the resin worked a treat and looks beautiful, and the wood.... When I saw it at the start I did not have very high hopes for it. I was wrong! It is the best part of the piece! It looks wonderful! Well done as usual, sir. Keep your chin up and listen to Mrs Mike. I'm sure she has something to say about priorities at the moment!!
Agree with lizacole: love the process, the creations, & the videos (past & present). I especially like this vase, & the fact you ~could~ put it aside for a time. No fool here!
Love your self analysis! I’ve been watching the older videos and you are truly an artist! You couldn’t rush through something that was not you! Good life with the family on your adventure from Kentucky.
Please don’t be so hard on yourself. Family is top priority. We will still be here when you are settled in your new place. This piece is perfect. Very nice grain with the perfect amount of resin in the perfect colours.
Another gorgious piece Mike!! Take all tjime you need for the move and your family; they’re the most important in life. We will be here waiting for you and your bedazzling creations!!
I really love this one Mike 😊 Glad to hear your move is so far not going too badly. I'm still working my way through your back catalogue, I hadn't realised there were so many I hadn't watched! Enjoying them all immensely.
I'm glad you stepped back from the piece when you recognized how rushed you were making it. I think if you are not enjoying the process that is a good indicator that something is wrong. Take care of your family, we will be here when you have time to post. (I'm glad that the move is going well so far!) I think the piece came out very well, I like it a lot! I'm glad you decided to change things up and put the layer of resin on the bottom. I think the resin colors show off the light wood and variation of the spalted area beautifully. The cracks of the pith area have made a very interesting pattern of their own, I'm glad you figured out how to keep that. Hopefully in your new shop you will eventually have the space (and money) to get a vacuum chamber and/or your pressure pot so that you have fewer of those pesky holes to fix or work around. Cheers!
Thanks Susan, I'm glad I stepped back as well, when I went back to it I was happy and relaxed and able to do my best. I live the cracks and so glad I left the resin at the bottom 😁. I will be getting a vacuum chamber and pressure pot but it will take a little time.
Mike stress is bad wood turning is a stress reliever ,love your work it inspires me to try new things in the shop. Keep up the great work and remember we are our own worst critics. 😊
Enjoying each and every one of your videos. Your talent in working in your chosen field is remarkable, making beautifully crafted items that are unique and charming.
Mike, with what you must have going in your head, what a beautiful piece, I really love it, what a good choice of resin colours. Looking forward to seeing you again soon.
You didn't make a fool of yourself. We are all guilty of expecting too much from ourselves and trying to do more than we should. Glad to hear the move is going well! Take all the time you need to get settled. We will still be here waiting to see the next beautiful thing you're going to create!
I will confess to some worry when I didn't see anything yesterday, but hoped it was because relocation was going faster than expected. Absolutely love that vase!
Beautiful grain pattern and the spalting is well displayed. Appreciate voicing your thought processes. Very nice shape! Glad you got your priorities straightened out. Less stress the better.
Like watching Bob Ross starting a painting. I was really questioning where it was going on the beginning. Like always it turned out stunning. Very beautiful.
Dear Mike, I found your channel some weeks ago and have binge watched most. You are a very talented 'artist' and 'wood turner' each piece you make is a piece of art. I so enjoy your video's with coffee in hand. Well done!
I have a lot of plans for “one of these days”, too 😄 Delighted to see a new video today, friend, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the vase! The starfish-shaped inclusions rock my world. Looking forward to our next adventure… whenever that may be, with NO pressure from your adoring fans! Smooch for Hooch😘😘
Absolutely beautiful piece. So glad you stepped away and did it proper. I love the shape, the natural edge to resin, all the different contrasts of color and grain, and spalting. And the way the cracks and milliput look around the tight curve of the neck. Just a great piece all around.
What a pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting a new video until after your move. This vase turned out just beautiful. The cracks on each side, though a headache for you, make this vase catch the eye. I have been enjoying watching your earlier videos from over a year ago. This is before I found your site and before your wife bought you your new wood lathe. I hope that your move continues to go smoothly.
Mike, how is the move going? Are we going to get a preview of the new shop? Wow I love that mixer, that will take a fair bit of mixing errors out of epoxy for sure. Mike, one way I have seen to maintain color separation in epoxy with mica or dyes is to pour them at the same time opposing each other so they essentially collide in the form which has turned out to me to be the best way of color separation. You also get some nice undulations or waves at that collision point. Beautiful vase as always. NEVER RUSH FOR US! Now, let's get a video tour of the new place!
Thanks Paul, I'm heading to the workshop tomorrow to let in the electrician so he can add the new sockets. I will be taking the cameras to give you all a sneaky peak 😁
I come to watch your videos for some peace and time out with my 12 year old son. Beautiful crafting, and very talented. I'm so glad that you gave yourself the time on this one. It must have been a very difficult time when the whole move was going on. This is truly a wonderful piece, I simply adore the grain and the colours. You make me wish I'd taken a different path with career.
Thanks so much and I really appreciate your words. It's never too late to try something new. I only took up turning 3 years ago and this is really just a hobby as I have a full time job as well. All the best, Mike
The character in that piece is beautiful. I'd like to suggest that when you work with the flexible plastic as a resin mold, put a clothespin on the sleeve of your smock. When you need to keep the plastic steady, reach and get the clothespin and clip it to the top where the plastic meets to keep it together.
This is by far my favorite piece af all that you've turned out. The process of changing your mind throughout made this piece quite an asthetic and organic work of art! Very well done indeed :)
Every time I use my steady rest I put my pony on the wrong side. I just did it 2 weeks ago. Lol Thanks for putting out videos while you are moving. I look forward to watching them every week.
Excellent work. The colors are fabulous. The shape of the vase is great. Super good job. Happy you took some mental health time for yourself and family. Well done mate.
This is an absolute magnificent piece. I'm glad you prioritized this content. The resin turned out great. All the best with the move and can't wait to see more! I'm amazed at your craft! Magnificent!
A beautiful vase. The grain of the wood is spectacular. I like the epoxy on the bottom of the vase. Very nicely done. This is one of my favorite pieces. I would love a copy of this vase.
First off, you most certainly didn't make a fool of yourself! The thing that makes your channel stand out, is the fact that you share the thought process that goes into your creations. Agreed 👍
Totally Agree you did not make a fool of yourself and I hope the house and workshop move goes smoothly and as stress free as is possible, Ps Love the vase.
I appreciate that Liza, I have always just wanted to do my best and be as honest as possible. And I'm so glad you all appreciate that. Thanks, Mike
I couldn't have said that any better. Mike right now you need to take care of yourself and your family. Moving is a big job.
Mike, I'm adding my voice to the chorus singing that you didn't make a fool of yourself. As I see it, your priorities are:
1) your own health
2) your family
3) your move
4) your channel content and us.

I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling that Mike can take all the time he needs for his family's move. We will be here when you're settled, Mike! Thanks for the wonderful video. Beautiful vase!
Thanks so much my friend 😀
Your decision to pause and return to this project was absolutely vindicated by the beautiful result. A tremendous object.
Thanks so much Ben 😀
Those of us loyal viewers will be here when you and your family are moved and settled. As many have said, family comes first. Lovely job on the vase, Mike. Best wishes for a smooth relocation.
Thanks so much Hubert, all the best, Mike 😀

Hi Mike, it was great that you could make this video for us fans in spite of your other commitments. Good luck!
PS. Lovely vase.

Yes! Thank you! 😊

I love that you ultimately remained true to yourself and your craft and made the best piece possible - which is gorgeous, by the way!
Thank you so much Leslie, I could feel myself getting tense and I had to step away, felt so much better doing it, lesson learned 😃
Hello Mike,

You are quite right, you need to be focused to be able to do your best, all the best, Mike 😀
Normally I am not that fond of the epoxy / wood mixes , but this one turned out real beautiful
Thanks so much 😊
The resin mixture turned out great and that spalting is beautiful! You did this vase justice! Well done! Thanks Mike!
Thank you! Cheers! 😁
It is beautiful and your journey with the vase is so important for the provenance of the piece historically.
Thanks again, all the best, Mike 😀
Thanks for all you give. You are brilliant and you have my respect and admiration as you care for young vulnerable children. ❤❤❤
WOW thanks so much John, I will put this to help setting up the new shop, it is very much appreciated 😍

Lovely! I wasn’t sure about the coffee color, but it was a great choice.
Glad you kept true to your family. They are the most important part of your life.
Thanks so much! 😊
You didn’t embarrass yourself, you made a breathtakingly beautiful vase. Wow!
Thanks so much 😊

Me too, thanks Kirsti 😀

Thanks, I'm so glad I did 😀

Thanks so much Bob, it was the best thing I could have done, my head was too full of the move 😀
I love seeing the evolution of your design ideas. This vase is a prime example of that process. Best of luck with the move - Family first, always.
Thanks so much Dave 😀
Mike this vase is marvelous. Again you have done an amazing job. Don’t worry about us and the videos you just take care of yourself and your family because moves can be stressful. I know I’m not leaving your channel so no worries. 😊❤
Thank you very much!
Thank you so much for understanding 😌
Thanks Rachel, it's messy but loads of fun 😁
You set a very hopeful example by unapologetically changing your mind to make something better. Well done and well wishes!
Thanks Penny, I'm not perfect or infallible and I have no problem with failing as long as I learn something from it. All the best, Mike
I agree with the many voices here that your videos are special and so worth waiting for. The base is simply gorgeous. The use of resin to save that beautiful piece of wood was brilliant. A work of art.
Thank you so much Cecilia, I was going through a lot when I was on making this but all is good now
I'm so happy you were able to stop and refocus. Taking time for your personal life is always the right choice. I do love your videos. So I hope you're able to get comfortably set up and turning again soon.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it 😀
Mike, please don't let yourself worry about anything other than those things that are important to your home and family. I love your videos and although it'll mean less RUclips time, I'm happy to anticipate when your next masterpiece appears... No matter how long it is in the making. Drop your deadlines mate..... we'll still be here. Oh, beautiful piece btw 😂
Haha thanks so much my friend 😁
You made the right decision, Mike. This one of my favorite creations. I hope the move goes as smoothly as possible.
Thanks so much Mark
I’ve been watching a lot of turning videos over the last two and a half years since becoming disabled by Covid. I’ve grown bored with most of the turns I had been watching. I keep watching your channel because you keep doing new things, trying new techniques, and showing us the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of turning. You do a fine job and you and your family deserve to step away and take care of business when you need to. I hope all goes well with your move and that you get to continue your turning at your new place.
Thanks so much my friend and it has been so great to have you along for my journey, all the best and thanks again, Mike
Mike, glad to hear the move is going well. This vase is absolutely beautiful. Please take care of yourself and your family.
I will do I promise, thanks Jean 😃
Stunning Mike.
I was excited when I saw you were using my favourite colour, green, and it didn't disappoint.
Thanks for taking the time to put out a video for us, and wishing you and your family beautiful weather and issue free moving of your home.
Take care, Mike 🤗
Glad you enjoyed it Fiona and thanks so much ☺️
No need to apologise for anything and you certainly did NOT make a fool of yourself.
Thanks so much Phil 😀
Dry nice and earthy. I see it in a woodsy cabin! I didn’t expect to see you so soon. Thanks for this treat!
Sorry, not “ dry” but “very” 🙄
Thanks Mary, I'm doing what I can to get content out 😀
Agree with lizacole: love the process, the creations, & the videos (past & present). I especially like this vase, & the fact you ~could~ put it aside for a time. No fool here!
Thanks Susannah 😀
Love your self analysis! I’ve been watching the older videos and you are truly an artist! You couldn’t rush through something that was not you! Good life with the family on your adventure from Kentucky.
Thanks so much for your kind words Larry 😀
Mike, that is a stunning piece. Take care of yourself and your family, you didn’t make a fool of yourself.
Thanks Nicholas 😀
Stunning piece. Goes to show that you have to let the wood speak. You made an excellent choice to walk away for awhile. Love it!
Thank you very much, appreciate it 😃
despite all you have going on you still manage to produce such a lovely piece.
Thanks Simon 🙂
Please don’t be so hard on yourself. Family is top priority. We will still be here when you are settled in your new place. This piece is perfect. Very nice grain with the perfect amount of resin in the perfect colours.
Thank you so much Brenda 😀
Another gorgious piece Mike!! Take all tjime you need for the move and your family; they’re the most important in life. We will be here waiting for you and your bedazzling creations!!
Thanks so much Peter
I really love this one Mike 😊 Glad to hear your move is so far not going too badly. I'm still working my way through your back catalogue, I hadn't realised there were so many I hadn't watched! Enjoying them all immensely.
Thanks so much I really appreciate it
I'm glad you stepped back from the piece when you recognized how rushed you were making it. I think if you are not enjoying the process that is a good indicator that something is wrong. Take care of your family, we will be here when you have time to post. (I'm glad that the move is going well so far!)
I think the piece came out very well, I like it a lot!
Family comes first. I know you love wood turning, so I know you'll be making lots of videos soon. Best wishes for a smooth move. 😊 Cheers!
Thanks so much Andrea 😀
This gentleman is a superb Craftsman
Thanks so much Wayne
Gorgeous result of so many creative processes in a creative life. Staying true to what you need to do has, no surprise, produced a beautiful result.
Thanks so much, really appreciate your kind words, Mike
Mike stress is bad wood turning is a stress reliever
,love your work it inspires me to try new things in the shop. Keep up the great work and remember we are our own worst critics. 😊
You are so right Danny! All the best, Mike
Another vase that deserves to be picked up to feel and look at. Very nice Mike and wishing a smooth move for you.
Thanks, really appreciate your kind words 😀
Take all the time you need. We just enjoy the process!
All sorted now 😀
Wow, an outstanding piece of turning. I like & appreciate your open conversation with your audience.
Thank you very much Simon, I believe in honesty and hope that sharing may help someone else in the same situation. All the best, Mike
Enjoying each and every one of your videos. Your talent in working in your chosen field is remarkable, making beautifully crafted items that are unique and charming.
You are so kind! Thanks so much for your support 😀
Mike, with what you must have going in your head, what a beautiful piece, I really love it, what a good choice of resin colours. Looking forward to seeing you again soon.
Thank you! Cheers Jan 😀
You didn't make a fool of yourself. We are all guilty of expecting too much from ourselves and trying to do more than we should. Glad to hear the move is going well! Take all the time you need to get settled. We will still be here waiting to see the next beautiful thing you're going to create!
Thanks so much my friend 😀
Another amazing piece 🙂 There is absolutely no need to apologise.
Thank you! 😊
I will confess to some worry when I didn't see anything yesterday, but hoped it was because relocation was going faster than expected. Absolutely love that vase!
Thanks Barbara, no need to worry ☺️
Beautiful grain pattern and the spalting is well displayed. Appreciate voicing your thought processes. Very nice shape! Glad you got your priorities straightened out. Less stress the better.
Thank you very much and agreed, feel so much better now
Thanks Mike👍 The vase turned out great and I’m really pleased I’ve been watching your older videos I didn’t realise what I’d missed. Cheers

Gorgeous vase! I love the resin colors.
Thank you so much! 😊
Like watching Bob Ross starting a painting. I was really questioning where it was going on the beginning. Like always it turned out stunning. Very beautiful.
Thanks so much, a few people have mentioned Bob Ross 😀
A very beautiful piece. It amazing how the blemish of the checking turned into feature. Lemons to lemonade.
Thanks Harry, glad you liked it 😀
Dear Mike,
I found your channel some weeks ago and have binge watched most. You are a very talented 'artist' and 'wood turner' each piece you make is a piece of art. I so enjoy your video's with coffee in hand. Well done!
Thanks so much Gwyn 😁
This is gorgeous! Slow down and do what must all things will sort themself out in time. hugs to the family
Thanks Beth and the same to you and yours 😀
Don't rush - focus on the move and family!
Another beautiful piece!
😊
Yes! Thank you! 😀
Haha thanks so much Amie, I wonder what Hooch with think of the new workshop 😀
Absolutely beautiful piece. So glad you stepped away and did it proper. I love the shape, the natural edge to resin, all the different contrasts of color and grain, and spalting. And the way the cracks and milliput look around the tight curve of the neck. Just a great piece all around.
Thank you so much! 😀
Hope your move is going as smoothly as possible
It's amazing how you can transform an almost scrap piece of wood into a thing of beauty.
Thanks my friend, I do love this one 😀
What a pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting a new video until after your move. This vase turned out just beautiful. The cracks on each side, though a headache for you, make this vase catch the eye. I have been enjoying watching your earlier videos from over a year ago. This is before I found your site and before your wife bought you your new wood lathe. I hope that your move continues to go smoothly.
Thanks Wes, really appreciate your support 😀
So good that you stepped away. Gorgeous piece.
Thanks Lynn, I had to, I was getting frustrated with myself which is not like me, so glad I did 😃
I come to watch your videos for some peace and time out with my 12 year old son.
@@MikeHolton You appear to have learnt a lot in three years. Maybe one day, when I'm not decorating and rearranging my entire house. Here's hoping.
This piece did turn out beautifully. Job well done.
Thanks so much 😀
The character in that piece is beautiful. I'd like to suggest that when you work with the flexible plastic as a resin mold, put a clothespin on the sleeve of your smock. When you need to keep the plastic steady, reach and get the clothespin and clip it to the top where the plastic meets to keep it together.
Great suggestion! I'll try to remember for next time, thanks! 👍😀
This is by far my favorite piece af all that you've turned out. The process of changing your mind throughout made this piece quite an asthetic and organic work of art! Very well done indeed :)
Thank you so much 😊
Every time I use my steady rest I put my pony on the wrong side. I just did it 2 weeks ago. Lol Thanks for putting out videos while you are moving. I look forward to watching them every week.
haha thanks, we all do it lol 😀
Excellent work. The colors are fabulous. The shape of the vase is great. Super good job. Happy you took some mental health time for yourself and family. Well done mate.
Thanks Doug, I needed to, I was getting angry at myself which is just not me 😀
This is an absolute magnificent piece. I'm glad you prioritized this content. The resin turned out great. All the best with the move and can't wait to see more! I'm amazed at your craft! Magnificent!
Thank you very much! 👍
Nice piece. Glad the move is going well. Don't worry about us, we will be here when you are sorted.
You're the best! 😀
Good to hear the move is going well. Lovely vase, great mix of colours and patterns.
Thank you! 😊
Gawd, that's gorgeous. I'm grateful to hear your thought processes. Carry on! Thanks.
Thanks, will do Pat 😀
A beautiful vase. The grain of the wood is spectacular. I like the epoxy on the bottom of the vase. Very nicely done. This is one of my favorite pieces. I would love a copy of this vase.
Thank you very much! 🙂
