Mike you have once again moved the mark up even higher. Very nice work the wood look great. Adding the resin just took it up, but the light took it up in to stratosphere. Keep taking it up higher. Thanks.
Here's a tip for those of you who have a plastic disc for marking out the centre of blanks, as Mike does at around 2:50. Take some wax crayons of different colours, and colour in each circle in sequence, say red, then blue, then green. When you put the disc on the wood, it is way easier to line up say the green ring with the edge of the wood all round, and then you can mark the centre. Without the colour, you end up counting rings or tracing them round the outside to work out if you have the right position, which is a lot slower.
That is perhaps the most beautiful bowl I’ve seen on any woodturning video. I absolutely LOVE it! The lights idea is so clever and really adds a special flair to the design. The wood is spectacular!
I’ll be honest Mike, I didn’t think this would work practically or aesthetically. Not only was I 100% wrong it actually looks amazing. Keep on inspiring us.
Your imagination knows no bounds. A halo light that could have been in a box with other items in the loft, put to use making a beautiful light bowl. Congratulations Mike
Hi Mike. Very impressive and inspiring. You snuck in the color changing lights at the end. That's so cool. I was a bit worried when you went to turn it (after installing the light ring) to clean it up and thought "what about the wire? Is it going to be flopping around?" Then realized that of course you would tape it down. I love the whole project. Maybe instead of giving it away you should give it to your daughter as a lesson in re-purposing rather then just throwing things away. I just love it. How very cool. Take care and keep turning. Bill Riley.
Sapele always looks terrific. Nice chatoyence. I love the project. Very well done. I was a bit nervous when you were soldering the wires. A potential opportunity for "Murphy" to pay a visit, but glad he was too busy elsewhere. Good idea to seal the wood. I failed to seal an epoxy resin inlay in a mahogany bowl. The resin went into the pores and made the outside of the bowl dark which meant the piece was ruined. Lesson learned the hard way. You were saving the LED light in this case. For others wanting to try this interesting idea, try looking for an LED ring where the LED's can be changed to different colours. Then just use white resin to diffuse the light and the LED to get a desired colour. Dave.
My daughter needs that to match the lighting in her bedroom. I showed her the video and she loves it. (It looks purple, of course she loves it 😂) Great job!👍👍👍
What a great design. You could venture into the whole lighting market with your variations of design and woods. Wall lights, ceilings nightlights etc...nice one Mike.👍👍
Hi Mike, what an excellent choice of colours. The Sapele has a gorgeous tone and finish. You put the crown on the bowl with the resin inlay and the light ring. So good to watch your ideas come to light. ( could not resist that one ). Thanks for the video looking forward to the next one.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Hello Mike. I think this one is absolutely outstanding! What a great idea, to combine a light source with beautiful wood - just so we can see it better (?). So clever! I really did enjoy watching this one. 👍
So many good things to say about this one, Mike. Firstly, its always nice to see something that is working but no longer wanted get utilized for something new, rather than just tossed in the bin - Thanks for giving that light a new life and saving it from the landfill!. Nice clean soldering job in the LED ring, and a really pretty color in the resin. Very classy shape to the whole bowl - really a fantastic piece all the way around. Keep up the great work!
Brilliant Mike, absolutely brilliant. Such a clever idea & a beautiful end piece. As an aside, keep your eyes peeled out for the postie for stickers for your sticker wall when you get it sorted & for the other thing we spoke of. 👍
Amazing! You have a great ability to sense which colors will work together, not to mention the idea of putting that halo light around a bowl. I love watching you create, and you are quite an inspiration. Looking forward to the improvements you make in the new shop, as well as how the new location inspires you.
What a genius project. I grew up watching my dear dad woodworking in his modest little garden shed. Sadly he’s not around to enjoy your videos, but I can imagine how he’d love them as much as I do. Thank you Mike.
What’s an amazing idea for a bowl, I love the way the lighting changes shape as it shines through the resin. Really impressive thank you for sharing it.🙂
Really like the Shellac, makes the grain pop in the wood. The inlay looks nice with light off too, added bonus. Another great project watching you build.
This was a really creative one, and one of my favorite wood turning projects I’ve seen! I love how you show the thought process of your projects, and share how you adapt and puzzle out how to get a good result. This seems like it was a fun one! Thanks for the great videos!
I have recently started watching your u tube shows and I am amazed at the work you do! I have watched maybe a dozen of your shows and have yet to see anything that I haven't just loved ❤️😍 I like odd things, different things. Keep up the great work!
I was skeptical that the light would work in resin. Beautiful! The resin color is a perfect color for the wood. Show us the bowl with the light on with low lighting in the rest of the room please.
What a great idea and a beautiful piece it turned out to be. Nice also to hear the step by step commentary which i think other Artists should also do on their channels. 👏👏
An electrifying piece, it's brilliance shines out. You've lit up my Wednesday yet again. I hope you are enjoying your shiny new workplace and you continue to illuminate our dark days. Thanks Mike.
Really enjoyed this one and has given me a few other ideas. Have you ever thought of using a turn table when pouring the resin. I bought one from a charity shop (I think it was for displaying pottery bowls) but use it for airbrushing models. It just made things so much easier. I can just spray the model, turn it around on the table and the next face is where I want it. A cake icing stand would work just as well. Please keep the new ideas comming.
Always enjoy your inlay work and this one is stunning. The resin color choice works perfectly with the wood color and the lighting gives it so many different looks... Great job again Mike!
You're such a wonderful teacher. As a retired teacher myself, I certainly appreciate the time you give to explain what you're doing. Do you come from a teaching family? Another quality piece we'd all be proud to display...and it's fun! What a clever idea!! 😊
I love this one so much! The simple shape shows off the chatoyancy, the resin color complements the wood color, AND you reused something that was going to be thrown out to very good effect. Win, win, win.
I saw this video get posted a few hours ago and have been watching the viewing numbers go up since then - this is such a unique idea - I have seen other turners put lights inside their hollow forms or have the light pour through the resin but to actually embed the light source into the wood like that is just such a wonderful idea. It looks like being in your new place is already doing wonders for your creativity so very excited to see what more you will share with us all. All the best Mike!
Outstanding sir, love the color of the resin. A stunning work of art indeed. Thanks for sharing with us all your hard work. Would love to see the shop lay out soon.🌿 👍👍👍👍👍
Mike you have once again moved the mark up even higher. Very nice work the wood look great. Adding the resin just took it up, but the light took it up in to stratosphere. Keep taking it up higher. Thanks.
I'll keep trying 😀

Great tip, thanks for sharing 😃
I could watch your videos all day. Not only are you supremely skilled, your voice is very calming
Thanks so much 😃
That's an awesome idea, and I like the color choice.
Sawdust, shellac, and alcohol makes an excellent fast drying wood filler as well.
Thanks for that tip, I'll give it a go 😀
Very creative remake! Love the idea of a bowl with a light to catch keys etc, great for a quiet night entrance.
Thanks Kathryn, just what I was thinking 😃
That is perhaps the most beautiful bowl I’ve seen on any woodturning video. I absolutely LOVE it! The lights idea is so clever and really adds a special flair to the design. The wood is spectacular!
Wow thanks so much Beverly
wow you got the mind of a mathematician and the hands of a surgeon loll like always it is awesome
😊 thank you, although I don't think you would like me operating on you lol
Wow! What a great idea! And it turned out so beautifully!
Thanks Lisa 😀
The resin in this looks like the night sky in the desert. I love it.
Thanks! I would love to see that 😀
I love this one! You should save it and give it back to your daughter on some sort of special occasion for her. It's really neat. Beautiful work!
Not a bad idea, I'll let her get out her adolescent messy faze first lol 😀
That looks amazing, what a good idea. The acoustic panels make all the difference, the sound is great.
Thanks so much 😊
Very impressive, I'm glad that you're back doing what you love.
Hey, thanks, me too 😀
I’ll be honest Mike, I didn’t think this would work practically or aesthetically. Not only was I 100% wrong it actually looks amazing. Keep on inspiring us.
Thanks Mark, I will do my best 😀
Your imagination knows no bounds. A halo light that could have been in a box with other items in the loft, put to use making a beautiful light bowl. Congratulations Mike
Thanks my friend and yes you are so right, we gave it a new life 😀

Thanks Bill, I do like this one and yes the cable was wrapped round the chuck and taped very well 😃
The way your mind works amazes me. I never would have thought of doing something like that. Sapele is my favorite wood, love working with it.
Thank you very much! 😊
Sapele always looks terrific. Nice chatoyence.
I love the project. Very well done. I was a bit nervous when you were soldering the wires. A potential opportunity for "Murphy" to pay a visit, but glad he was too busy elsewhere.

Thanks David, that is a great idea!! I may look for another. All the best, Mike
Loved this project! I think you've found the new theme for the channel: "What things can i find lying around my house that i can put into an inlay?"
Great idea, I have so many things lol 😀
@@MikeHolton Especially after having just moved!
My daughter needs that to match the lighting in her bedroom. I showed her the video and she loves it. (It looks purple, of course she loves it 😂)
Great job!👍👍👍
Haha thanks Cody 😃
What a great design. You could venture into the whole lighting market with your variations of design and woods. Wall lights, ceilings nightlights etc...nice one Mike.👍👍
That would be cool Pete, I may look into it 😀
I love your very British excitement on this one - understated yet perceivable!
Haha I'm just a big kid at heart 😃
This is my favorite of your projects so far. Amazing results. I love how the resin looks like a sparkling galactic ring with stars inside.
Thank you so much!😀
Hi Mike, what an excellent choice of colours. The Sapele has a gorgeous tone and finish. You put the crown on the bowl with the resin inlay and the light ring. So good to watch your ideas come to light. ( could not resist that one ). Thanks for the video looking forward to the next one.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Haha thanks Roy and thanks so much for a top class pun 😀
Gorgeous bowl, but with the lights it takes it to another level very classy and well designed.
Thank you very much John 🙂
Creative, innovative, out-of-the-box thinking, and perfectly executed. Well done, Sir!
Thanks so much 😃
Absolutely brilliant design! Really well planned and executed. I enjoyed this video very much.
Thank you very much Rachel 😃
There is so much joy in making something new out of something that would otherwise have been thrown away :-)
You are so right 😃
Sapele has such a stunning grain and chatoyance, the light and the color choice for the resin just makes it look even more beautiful
Thanks so much Rena 😃
Your imagination knows no bounds! Great art piece 😊!
Thank you so much 😀
Hello Mike. I think this one is absolutely outstanding! What a great idea, to combine a light source with beautiful wood - just so we can see it better (?). So clever! I really did enjoy watching this one. 👍
Thanks Angela, I'm just happy it worked lol 😀
Great use of the ring light. I'd been thinking in my head how to get lights into an inlay like that but this never occurred to me. Very cool indeed.
Thanks Tim 😄
Your idea in your head turned out absolutely beautiful ❤ The shift in the Chameleon powder is stunning! A very lovely catch-all bowl.
Thank you so much Mary 😃
So many good things to say about this one, Mike. Nice clean soldering job in the LED ring, and a really pretty color in the resin. Very classy shape to the whole bowl - really a fantastic piece all the way around. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Ronnie, I hate throwing things away and love being able to give something so ordinary a new life 😁
Brilliant Mike, absolutely brilliant. Such a clever idea & a beautiful end piece. As an aside, keep your eyes peeled out for the postie for stickers for your sticker wall when you get it sorted & for the other thing we spoke of. 👍
Will do and thanks so much 😃
I was amazed at the speed you can sand and apply finishes. Kidding aside, I hope you sign your work. What you do is art.
Thanks Charles, I have a sticker I put on but I may start signing under it 😀
A realy beautifull Holdall, i am glad you are happy in your new Workshop.
Thank you very much! 😀

Thanks so much, I loved making this and so glad it worked 😀
What a unique piece and the wood is beautiful. I can imagine this as a night light planted with a shallow bowl of succulents.
That is a beautiful idea! 😃
Excellent! One of the best uses I’ve seen for those ring lights. The bowl is lovely. Such a great job of turning.
Thank you very much Doug 😀
So clever. Brilliant way to use / upcycle some old L.E.D. lights.
Thanks Jonathan 😀
Probably the most beautiful upcycling I have ever seen!
Wow thanks so much Judith 😍
Very nice looking piece. Thank you. You’re daughter is going to want her light back!
Haha thanks Tom and it's too late now 😂
Wow! I was worried about how the light was going to turn out and it is wonderful! Thanks for sharing such creativity!!!
Thanks so much Maria 😃
I love the table! It is nice to listen as you talk through your ideas.
Thanks so much Lucy 😃
This is by far the coolest woodturning project I have seen. Great work!

The way the resin refracts light is sort of mesmerizing. Lovely and functional. 😊
Thanks so much Barbara😊
Really like the Shellac, makes the grain pop in the wood. The inlay looks nice with light off too, added bonus. Another great project watching you build.

Thanks, sapele really takes a nice polish 😁
What a great way to reuse something that was going to be thrown away.
Thanks Jen 😃
That inlaid light bowl would make an interesting center piece...a sculpture, spotted plant, or even a bowl of snacks.💚🤗
That would be cool! 😊
Snack bowl for in the cinema 😂
Every time we watch you work the more impressed we are by your creativity and skills. This is the neatest bowl project! Well done!

Clever idea like the variation of lights. Plus the sapelle is a strong durable wood. Johnh.😊
Thanks John, this was a lot of fun! 😃
Terrific Idea. Hopefully casting the LED system into silica will make the light fixture work for much longer. ❤
Fingers crossed, I'll let you know 😀
Great idea Mike. I like the finish. Great to see you having fun on the lathe again.
Thanks Stuart, it's great the be back 😃
What a concept! I have watched people make lamps and such, but never a magnificent bowl like that with lighting. Beautiful.

Clever project. New shop looks fabulous in the video. Especially like the floor color...I think you like green.
Haha thanks, I'm actually not a fan of green and did not paint the floor bit it does math my Record Power lathe and top 😃
Brilliant idea and works perfectly nice project and great use of something that no longer has a use.
Thank you very much! 😀
What a great idea and a beautiful piece it turned out to be. Nice also to hear the step by step commentary which i think other Artists should also do on their channels. 👏👏
