- Flew to Maui for the first time ever on Hawaiian Airlines from Los Angeles after a overnight stay. Good flight overall but rough on arrival. Maui is a excellent place with fine beaches, rainforests, & small towns with big city amenities. LAX isn't one of the best airports in the world & has a lot of traffic congestion. After take off, another plane was taken off at the same time. The islands of Catalina & St Nicolas can be seen in the distance. The only US airliner that serves free meals and I had the ham & cheese sandwich, fruits & cookie. Second was mostly consist of maui onion potato chip. After takeoff & landing one of the attendants acted as a inflight tour guide as well as encouraging passengers to be calm when it was rough on approach.

I've flown into Maui 29 times, it is always bumpy due to the winds.

I can handle babies. You and I were babies once. My poor Mom. My twin sister and I had to fly, and we were a year old and both got sick and had very soiled diapers. I can tell you, our mother was pretty upset, because she couldn't calm us down. Once kids reach about 3 or 4 years old, then you can teach them a few things about flying and public behavior. I'm afraid that's the one thing parents don't do enough.
I loved the F/A, his announcement kept the pax engaged and calm. I gather the flight was fun as well
I love the the flight attendant who said we're off the ground and on our way. I liked it also when he said you never know when the plane is going to dance the hula.
God bless him . Magnificent pilot, established a verbal connection with passengers from the first moment. I love Hawaiian Airlines ....They understand the anxious passenger.

In the year 1989 i was on Maui for 4 weeks. It was the best time in my live. i would do everythink to live on this Island , but i think this Dream never comes true. maybe i have the Chance to go to Hawaii a second time. I live in Germany and i hate this cold and raini weather. I remember my flight. from Germany to Chicago to san Francisco to los Angeles and then to kahului Airport . I love the video love it !!!! I live in California for 30 years and I go back home Costa Rica Central America we have the same time flying from lax to Sjo or Hawaii 5 hrs and 24 minutes love it !!! Love when the airplane takes off love it
Watching this video post-covid, dreaming of the time I can be on a plane again. This is as close as I'm going to get for now, great video, the captain is awesome and I loved Maui when I was there last.

Prolly one of the very few times I ever hear a pilot speak with such personality! I’ve flown dozens of times and never heard a pilot once give a tour while flying. Amazing!

I love this pilot. I have a terrible fear of flying but I think if I have him my anxiety will go down a bit. He has a voice of a trust worthy and a knowledgeable person.

fine man Kevin. I am sure its not fun to be on these 5 and a half to 9 and a half hour flights as a flight attendant particularly if you are a lead attendant. I am sure its incredibly safe and Hawaiian have a very good pilot training program. With that said, I think customers who are not familiar with such long flights might end up testy and I am sure a few of the attendants have stories of people who just yell at them or get frustrated at how boring such a long flight can get.

I landed on Maui in 1984 and will never forget how bumpy the approach was. It was a particularly windy day, and the relatively small 737 was really getting buffeted around. For me, it was fun, but there were some unhappy passengers on the flight.

Beautiful video! And I have to say that FA was superb. At times I have been a nervous flier, but if there was an FA as creative and encouraging as him, it would have helped immensely.
Awesome pilot, talking to the customers, making the flight pass more quickly. It's hilarious when passengers clap upon landing. These planes can land themselves. Pilots are nearly obsolete.
I've never heard a announcement that low just after takeoff...

First of all pilots cant even here noises in the cabin because the is a closed locked door so they dont hear anything in the cabin

I put in ear plugs take sleeping pills and cover my whole head on this flight...........ive done it so many times but i love it and its a great nap on this crossing really relaxing.

viki, there was an old tradition when air carrier flying was rarer to name each and every plane. truth be known in the intra island flights around the 8 island State passengers and flight crews got to know each other by name and personality since many simply used them as air taxis or commuter flights say to your business appointments or day or two holiday runs.
So take a name from a culture you don’t belong to, nice

I love Hawaiian Airlines. My first flight with them was Hilo to Honolulu on their island hopper 717 and then the inaugural Honolulu to Austin flight on their A330-200 and that was a wonderful flight

I'm 58 years old and I remember how flying was once fun and exciting. I used to look forward to the flight and as soon as the plane landed, I didn't care about the rest of the vacation. There was a time when flying was such a special occasion, that you dressed up and you had to be on your best behavior. Although the food was lousy, you at least got served a meal and some airlines had inflight entertainment. Another airline that was based in a tropical area, had their flight attendants do an inflight fashion show; no kidding. I miss those days. When deregulation was enacted, the glory days of flying were numbered. As far as the crying babies and rambunctious kids, why can't the airplane manufacturers build a play area somewhere on the plane and then the airline can assign some of their flight attendants to supervise; sort of like an inflight daycare center. Those of us who are parents, know that babies often cry on airplanes because the cabin pressure hurts their ears. On one flight that I took, the mother had the good sense to put ear muffs on her baby. The other kids; it's up to the parents to tell them to be quiet and behave. Then again, some of the adults are just as spoiled.

Coming into Canberra AUS - is much like this, It's always bumpy due to the mountain ranges and the warmer air.. Always makes for an interesting arrival...
Nice...Maui no ka oi and so is Hawaiian Air. I remember seeing a Hawaiian Air plane parked on the tarmac of Howard AFB standing by to fly US military dependents out Panama prior to Operation Just Cause...Mahalo Hawaiian Air!
I think those people who were on that flight just needed to calmed down just a little and sat back and relax and enjoy their flight

that is now inappropriate communications particularly not only that being the very moment flight crews need to concentrate simply on getting off the airport and into the transfer mode to their assigned cruising routes (yes there have been cases that airports had to close their out bounds because the air traffic control team could not get their required route information right) and sadly enough even in perceived emergencies a flight crew needs to alert air traffic control to say a fire or tire smoke and then the ATC relays it to the given plane. The pilots all know what they need to do to keep everyone safe though. Yes it would inconvenience travelers but they insist its only to protect the world against even the simplest of issues.

Hawaiian has some really great F/A’s! Even on my two 11+ hour flights from JFK in economy they were better than a certain other airline from EWR did in first. Edit: I’m gonna be really sad when they start using 787’s instead of A330’s. The 2-4-2 across in economy is much more bearable on the long haul flights than 3-3-3.
2-4-2 is bearable if you're not one of the poor souls who have to sit in the middle of 4 seat section.
I've flown on Hawaiian to and from Honolulu numerous time and I prefer the Boeing 767-300 mainly because of its 2-3-2 cabin layout, but unfortunately they retired their entire 767-300 fleet. I've never flown on the A330 yet, but I will fly on Hawaiian when they start using the 787.

I've never heard so many people talking so loudly on an airplane. These are adults? I know they are, but we Americans can be some of the loudest people on the planet! It's not funny, and it's no fun flying with a bunch of loud people, especially when they're adults. It's no wonder the kids are uptight.
