I'm sure it's nice not to have to drive 3.5 hours to Key West. I've never done the drive yet I imagine it's beautiful. Thanks for this video, I love American Airlines.
Actually the ride is beautiful if you take your time and look around. The problem is tremendous traffic and choke points at certain areas along the way can get frustrating at times. I’d do the drive again though.
Great video. We drove from Miami to Key West and it was almost 6 hours and when we got on the 7 mile bridge it was amazing especially the sights. Thanks for sharing
My parents had a timeshare in Key Colony Beach when we were growing up. B1900D and ATR-72 flights were the norm after American Eagle stopped serving Marathon. Awesome to see how the airport has changed!
@3:29 To quote George Carlin - "Well, what exactly is... a water landing?? Am I mistaken or does this sound somewhat similar to CRASHING INTO THE OCEAN??" Teee heee!!
Awesome video, and yea I used to love in Miami and many people just commuted by plane to the keys bc they don't wanna deal with traffic or they just have lots of money and just feel like doing that This also was a great wing view Liked!!
I have to get back to Key West. I use to live here in the 70's as a kid. My father was in the US Navy. We lived here for about 2 years. Boca Cica Naval Air Station.
thank you very much for sharing this with us. So interesting to see the shallow water and then the drop off into the deep of the ocean. Was this video take befor or after the devestating hurricane Irma?
Learned something new from your video. I thought ALL American Eagle flights out of MIA departed from gate D60. I was so shocked to see your departure from E22
I heard pilots are actually pretty fond of the 175 and 190, I haven't flown either those (though United uses them quite a bit on my normal route), but I'd like to, I hear they are very quiet in the cabin. I'd also like to fly on one of the new CS100s, I hear they are pretty nice too. The only regional jets I tend to be on are CRJ700s and very rarely crj200.
this flight sounds short but there is one other flight now that resumed service Orlando - Fort Myers which is only 45 minutes. i dont know if there are any other short duration flights you've done would be interesting to find out.
Back sometime in the last century, Provincetown-Boston Airlines (PBA) used to operate Cessna twin engine aircraft from EYW to MIA. Once, the pilot came to me and asked, "Sir, would you mind to help us out by sitting in the front right seat?" He had no idea that I could probably sit in the left seat and get us to MIA, but I answered, "Yes," faster than I've ever answered any Yes/No question before or since. He then said, "Just keep your feet off the 'pedals.' " I was delighted by the chance. There were scattered thunderstorm cells which he did a good job of avoiding. That was in the last century and now I find myself needing to know how to fly a 757, only in a technical sense. (I've never flown a true jet.) Is there any place anyone knows of that shows the landing and take off from the cockpit with the rotation, V1, V2, . . . stated out loud?
Wow look at them clouds at 17:31 this is amazing I've never flew in an airplane in my life it was a little scary on take off but my fears of flying watching this video he'll the helped out whoever film this good job good video
Great video!! Just as a very small point of feedback, the flight level designation starts at the transition altitude, which in the United States is 18,000 ft, so FL100 is technically not correct. Just for future reference :)
This is much better then driving there.. If you live Palm Beach north I would fly there.. Driving threw Miami on 95 is not fun at all crazy drivers then that bridge.. Yuck. Even truck drivers hate that drive that tells you something.. It's to bad they never brought the train back from long ago.. And they have enough money to do that it's just that they hate to spend money now for anything..
dbn52 I live in Atlanta so I will be! My mom is stranded in Miami so she's the one I'm worried about. It's a beautiful place and I hope it doesn't go completely under water
what's the story of the Cubana Antonov An-24 seen at 27:06 ? Hijacked and flown to Key West or unfortunately in the wrong place at the wrong time when ties with Cuba broke preventing it from getting back home?
omfgitsshan Well the story is it was hijacked and intercepted by USAF fighter jets and brought down safely into the airport. This happened back in 2003 I believe. Needless to say, the USA and Cuban relationship wasn't to great at the time so they never got the plane back.
What is a normal taxi speed for this aircraft, say, at a busy airport? Keep up, or get run over? This is an obviously busy flight with short duration for the cockpit crew.....so I must make some assumptions that "You're next in line for takeoff?".......Any distance restrictions for taxi at high temp, high density altitude airports?
excellent video. Was that a Cabana plane abandoned at the approach end of your arrival runway? If so, must of arrived their either as a result of a defection or hijacking. Did the cabin crew announcement state that they were a Pittsburgh -not Miami-based crew?
It's from a hijacking in 2003. I was on the roof of the new high school (at the time still being built) watching that whole thing unfold. Plane was in Havana and a guy claiming to have grenades (fake) demanded it be refueled to reach the US. Diverted to KW, released 31 people, eventually surrendered. You can see it up close just on the other side of that fence, Government Road, if you're ever in the area.
It is a regulatory requirement (EASA CS 25) that commercial aircraft can safely fly should one of the two engines fail at any point of the flight, including takeoff at speeds beyond V1
You're reading the reg wrong. You cannot takeoff on one engine. If you only have one engine BEFORE V1, the takeoff is aborted. V1 isn't the safe takeoff speed it's the safe STOP speed. So if you never get to V1 in the first place, your point, logic, reasoning, is moot.
Thanks for watching and please read description above if you have any questions about the flight!
Captain Cooper i love to fly. In rid guys
Hey just an FYI, FL100 isnt a thing. Flight levels start at 18,000.
Amazing video, Captain Cooper.!
The csx guy is here whick is me
this is fake
The best of Brazilian engineering. Shining in the short flights segment. Embraer is the best! Beautiful images!
These regional e-jets are so comfortable and silent.
Hello from Greece guys... I love Florida keys island, it's the best place... I hope same day to go there... (sry for my English)
Amazingly quiet! That’s the plane my son wishes to pilot.
It's the best plane that there is! It's comfortable, doesn't feel cramped even with a full flight! Love the E175's.
Probably took longer to get to/from the runway than the flight lasted...
lvsluggo007 Taxi time really was the same as the flight😂
Key West,my happy place! ❤️ Thanks for the great video! I will be watching this ALL winter while I'm living in the Midwest!
We went from looking at clouds to touching clouds-so awesome.
Thanks for documenting
What a lovely and relaxing flight. Excellent flight crew! Thank you for sharing!
Sheila Sembly-Crum Of course! Thanks for watching!
I enjoyed that flight, and I never had to bother with luggage. lol
Have you ever drove from Miami to Key West @Roland Doucet ?
I like these kind of videos
Zohie Allgood Same. They’re underrated
My parents had a timeshare in Key Colony Beach when we were growing up. B1900D and ATR-72 flights were the norm after American Eagle stopped serving Marathon. Awesome to see how the airport has changed!
Conor Clancy I flew on an American Eagle ATR at one point and it was pretty cool!
Better pressurization on the ATR. Beech 1900D made my ears pop and hurt made me cringe and want to scream.
WOW great video, I love Window seats.
@3:29
To quote George Carlin - "Well, what exactly is... a water landing?? Am I mistaken or does this sound somewhat similar to CRASHING INTO THE OCEAN??" Teee heee!!
Great video, I like your footage, Looks like an HD camera shot. Keep up the good work.
The Undertaker Thank you! Yes all of my videos are in full HD now!
I Remember when Southwest flew here, 4 years ago I was on a flight from Albany (my home) to Tampa to Key West.
Beautiful from the air.
Looked like an old Antonov AN 26 Cubans livery sitting at end of runway when you came in the land, nice video.
Lovely flight...thanks!
Hermosos los Cayos de la Florida. Estuve el año 2018 y me quedé fascinada....
Congratulations ...I liked to see the plane made in Brazil, from Embraer
Man 60 FPS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN A VIDEO
less like a movie, more like being there oneself
I enjoy flying, but don't do it that often. It was fun to watch this! Thank you!
blessOTMA Im glad to hear you liked it!
Thank you for posting. I am planning a vacation to key west this year. Wondering when the off season is.
Awesome video, and yea I used to love in Miami and many people just commuted by plane to the keys bc they don't wanna deal with traffic or they just have lots of money and just feel like doing that
This also was a great wing view
Liked!!
Keyshawn Lol I feel that. I actually went ATL-DFW-MIA-EYW😂 just wanted to fly as much as I could. Thanks for watching!
Thanks a lot Capt, I flew there a couple of time In Fsim10 but it looks way better in reality !!!!! a sim pilot.
Looked like it used a very relaxed power setting on the takeoff there..
Excellent AA 👏👏👏
Nice short flight !!!! 😀😀
I have to get back to Key West. I use to live here in the 70's as a kid. My father was in the US Navy. We lived here for about 2 years. Boca Cica Naval Air Station.
Last time I went to Key West I was stuck on an ATR 72, The E175 is a better plane
The ATR isn't all that bad! Yeah I'd still prefer the Embraer though lol. Thanks for watching!
never saw in EU such amazing clouds flying in quite some distance from each other
thank you very much for sharing this with us. So interesting to see the shallow water and then the drop off into the deep of the ocean. Was this video take befor or after the devestating hurricane Irma?
Learned something new from your video. I thought ALL American Eagle flights out of MIA departed from gate D60. I was so shocked to see your departure from E22
Biscayne Boeing Yeah there was a gate change! The terminal I was in was pretty crappy and old
Does it take less time by a regional jet as opposed to those ATR-72''s they used to fly from Mia to EYW?
This video gives me goosebumps because I do the same thing when I fly #filming
made that connection a few times on Air Sunshine's DC 3
talk about hitting the brakes! great video!
Two of my CFIs left for Republic, they seem to be operating a pretty growing fleet.
Kenny R There's plenty of opportunities for new pilots with them. Glad they're doing well!
It's really just a hop and a skip by air from Miami to Key West, I much rather drive and take the scenic route. Thanks for the video I do like it.
Smooth video. Thanks.
I heard pilots are actually pretty fond of the 175 and 190, I haven't flown either those (though United uses them quite a bit on my normal route), but I'd like to, I hear they are very quiet in the cabin. I enjoyed this video but it sucked having to set through a Bloomberg add before I could watch it.
this flight sounds short but there is one other flight now that resumed service Orlando - Fort Myers which is only 45 minutes. i dont know if there are any other short duration flights you've done would be interesting to find out.
Love E175! Nice video
Pandacapricorn Not a bad little guy isn't it?
Nice video:)
Geminijets 46 Thanks mate!
28:07 - Is that a wx radar?
Excellent !, for a moment I thought I was inside the plane, very good video, thank you!
Daniel A Thank you!

I flew to Key West last winter, but I took a delta 737-700 nonstop cool video probably a short flight from Miami
Joanne Voorhees Oh cool! They look so big on that airfield
Joanne Voorhees You mean Delta 737-800/900
Dean Ellis Delta actually operates 10 737-700's and uses them to go to smaller airports like Key West!
Captain Cooper Ok
Captain Cooper does it go to JFK
Nice video I saw PMS on takeoff
Wow look at them clouds at 17:31 this is amazing I've never flew in an airplane in my life it was a little scary on take off but my fears of flying watching this video he'll the helped out whoever film this good job good video
"The seat cushions can be used for flotation devices......."
Is that a Cubanana plane right before landing
Yes..i live in key west..you can google hijacked plane key west fl for the stories
@@pamelafoxx129 thanks I look into it
Why would you skip that scenic drive for an expensive flight?
It’s dangerous
21darkster If you think driving down to Key West is dangerous, you haven’t driven on the Palmetto or I-4.
That was a long time ago Air Sunshine DC-3's were a daily fixture at this airport in their bright orange paint scheme.
Frank Grippi Ah ok. I didn't see it but I'm guessing when the airline went out of business they just left the plane there.
Cool Flight! I have NEVER Flown on one of these planes, but Going to next week! How do they fly per your experience ?
Nice report! I subscribed
AviationIsMyLife Thanks mate I appreciate it!
Captain Cooper :)
Great video!! Just as a very small point of feedback, the flight level designation starts at the transition altitude, which in the United States is 18,000 ft, so FL100 is technically not correct. Just for future reference :)
A nice tribute to Key West pre-Irma.
Scott Mathews It sure is. I just hope my mom's rental house is alright. Thanks for watching!
I hope so too! Let us know.
I was thinking exactly that
This is much better then driving there.. If you live Palm Beach north I would fly there.. Driving threw Miami on 95 is not fun at all crazy drivers then that bridge.. Yuck. Donna Davidson She is thank you! She's with my grandparents now.
I do hope you will be safe and that Key West and Miami are still functioning after Irma
dbn52 I live in Atlanta so I will be! My mom is stranded in Miami so she's the one I'm worried about. It's a beautiful place and I hope it doesn't go completely under water
What if it's raining when the plane arrives? How do the passengers get to the terminal from the plane without getting wet?
for a flight that short they short use turboprops
Cool. Don't key to see EYW much on RUclips. Thanks for posting. New subscriber.
TPAspotting Aey thanks my man! Yeah my mom lives down there so you'll be seeing plenty more of it in the future! You've got my sub as well!
Great video!
John Miller Thanks!
what's the story of the Cubana Antonov An-24 seen at 27:06 ? Hijacked and flown to Key West or unfortunately in the wrong place at the wrong time when ties with Cuba broke preventing it from getting back home?
omfgitsshan Hmmm interesting question. I'll ask my mom she works at the airport. Thanks for watching!
omfgitsshan Well the story is it was hijacked and intercepted by USAF fighter jets and brought down safely into the airport. This happened back in 2003 I believe. Needless to say, the USA and Cuban relationship wasn't to great at the time so they never got the plane back.
Thanks for replying back with the story! Quite interesting! Here's a close up video I just found ruclips.net/video/ZP_Cpw2HqcE/видео.html
omfgitsshan Wow very cool and of course!
That plane is still there? I looked at in 2004...it was leaking oil then and probably still is... :)
last time I checked you can use any toilet on a aircraft what with use the back toilet ?
Great Video
Elvis Amendola Thank you!
Awesome video, Captain!

One of the shortest flights of all time
N.a N.a you're not kidding😂
Captain Cooper lol 😂
What people don't know is EYW has a pretty short runway. You hang tight when they hit the brakes.
Tom Rempe Yeah it's only 4,800 ft long!
I like flying on the airplane🛫
Nice video. I guess that ground guy can't afford a haircut.
Even the pilots like.. this is a shorty... lets MOVE
Captain Cooper, do you know Captain Carl Saunders?
The flight is pretty short to be traveling from Miami to Key West @Captain Cooper.
That's crazy how an airplane can fly so high look at them fucking clouds that looks crazy
What’s the deal with that twin turbo prop they flew over at 27:06? Anyone know what it is? Looks like a slightly decrepit Fokker.
Actually, it's a Soviet-era copy of the Fokker 27/50, the Antonov 24. As AMM6587 explained it was part of a hijacking back in '03'.
What happened to the Air Sunshine DC-3 on the field .
Frank Grippi What time did you see it in the video? There's an Antonov plane on the airfield but I didn't see a DC-3 there.
was you flying in
Nice video kepp up the good work :) 😐😐😐😐😐
Marivic Arroyo Thanks!
Was this an American Eagle flight or a mainline flight?
Jeff d'Hedouville It's an American Eagle plane operated by Republic Air. A regional carrier
Engine was not running on take-off, right? I don't hear anything...
Nikolay Klimchuk The engine was definitely on😂 that would be an interesting takeoff if we took of with one engine!
It is a regulatory requirement (EASA CS 25) that commercial aircraft can safely fly should one of the two engines fail at any point of the flight, including takeoff at speeds beyond V1
Nikolay Klimchuk I'm just saying for takeoff.
The E175/190/195 are great aircraft in that regard, I would rather fly on them than a 737/320
How long is the flight
Can you do more videos please?
I,love the window seats
Que belleza....!
What part of "turn off all electronic devices" did you miss?
Just enjoy the video
You dont really need to turn off your electronics on take off or landing 😂 its a urban myth
@@Monkofthecaribbean Wrong. It's an FAA regulation for a reason.
This was a non scheduled flight right?
embrj145 Lol no there's daily flights in and out of EYW from DC and MIA on American.
really? i thought a flight this short with a jet would've been non sense
Not AA, either a express contractor or connection subsidiary.
Corey WARNER Its republic.
