And once again im listening to the brilliantly edited Johnny Dollar, how I love this whilst sewing or cross stitching. Wish radio shows were still around. Thanks Mr H for all your wonderful efforts, time and skills 🕵♂️
Thank you so very much for all of your editing skills.. Highly Appreciated.. It's definitely much more enjoyable than listening to all of the breaks and commercials.. Especially when you're trying to drift off to sleep.. 💯😎🏆
I love the fact that Howard McNear , did a lot of voice actor work on radio shows also a lot of characters here on Johnny Dollar, and we all know him as the Barber on The Andy Griffith Show,
@@HearthandHomeEntertainment I Love Howard McNear, and I love that he played all sorts of characters in this show, from killers to, well, Howard. (The folks at Andy Griffith said that he was not really acting...)

I haven't thanked you for making these radio show and it's shame on me! I go to sleep nearby every night listening to these detective show and JD is my favorite...followed by Michael shayne...so thank you so much for all your trouble! Please keep them coming.
This has become my go to channel I’m obsessed with the Jonny Dollar stories atm and can’t wait to move on to the others. Your beginning introductions are brilliant and I really enjoy the scenic videos. The whole set up is 5 ⭐️ thank you so much for all your hard work.
I always enjoy listening to one of my all-time favorite radio shows, Johnny Dollar. I just want to say that I appreciate your intro at the beginning of these shows. Great show and great people chatting. Take care 📻🌹
What sets Bob Bailey apart from the other actors who played JD is, Bob’s portrayal is not merely reading lines. He infuses certain characteristics throughout the series.
Also, I think the format of the 15 minutes shows spread out over a week (or if you are tuning in to the show over an hour) vs 30 minutes to set up the story and end it gave him more time to flesh out the character more. All in all, a very enjoyable show.
@@HearthandHomeEntertainment Yes. The 30-minutes shows seem rushed. I still can't believe how many times I scrolled past the show. As with many shows, some of the foreign accents are brutal. But BB is wonderful. I'm still putting some names to unfamiliar voices.
@brwnlady --Not just the foreign accents but the opinions. The way they treat Mexicans in general but the police specifically. Like children who just can't be expected to do well without his oversight.
It's more normal for the best person at a role being the first person, and subsequent replacements are unsatisfactory imitations. But Bob Bailey came along late in the day to the role, and was just head and shoulders above all his predecessors. He brought so much more depth to the character in the role. The other actors were bland and generic, and their understanding of the character was superficial. With Bob, you understand exactly what he was like. Dollar lived for the excitement and had a lot of confidence that he could think his way out of a tough spot, but he lived life knowing that every day could be his last. The thought of taking fewer risks to prolong his life would never occur to him, it just wasn't who he was.
Thank you for this! There was a specific episode I was looking for where Johnny Dollar is conducting an investigation, and he approaches a house with the lights on and loud party sounds coming from inside. As he gets closer, he realizes that the noise and party atmosphere are pre-recorded sounds being played through speakers to give the illusion of a lively gathering. This clever ruse was set up by the criminals to mislead anyone who might be watching the house. It blew my mind when I first listened to it, and ChatGPT says the episode is called "The Dancing Turkeys Matter" but I can't find such an episode. Do you know which episode this might be from?
Wish he would have had a chance at the television version (more than a pilot episode) of Johnny Dollar. Read where there were 3 attempts (1949-1958-1962) at a television show and all 3 never made it past the pilot episode. They said because Bob was only 5'9" and 150LBs that it did not work due to his smaller physical stature. No excuse to the other 2 actors who also failed. When I think insurance investigator, I do not think of big burly dudes. Not sure why 5'9" and 150 was considered too small??? Seems you would want a smaller agile guy that is quick on their feet.
@@brwnlady You are right. Seen him in a movie with Laurel & Hardy, "Jitterbugs." I see no reason why he would not have been a perfect insurance investigator. The producers missed getting the true "Dollar" into television.
Love Bob Bailey! The best of the best Johnny dollar!
I need to get away from toxic politics and OTR really helps me clear my mind and helps me calm down and fall asleep.
Thanks for your efforts.
I work in surgery ,and these story's and the wallpaper

Bob Bailey - my fave!
Appreciate these radio shows my friend.

The first story presented here is easily one of the best Johnny Dollar stories!
Yes I agree. This is my favorite of all. It’s sweet. I love this series. And Bob Bailey is definitely the best.

Bob Bailey is soo superior ....he was born for radio, some actors are . I would have loved to be a voice actor
ty! Please join us as well on our new live channel Hearth & Home Nostalgia:)
Showing the Foley Operators with the Todd episode- really cool!!🎙
John Lund was great, of course we adore Bob Bailey....
Yep
Attorney Gumby, with nothing much but a nice smile who's office is next to a dental laboratory. 😁❗

Mandel Kramer did a mighty fine job! But Bob Bailey’s a champ for sure
The Todd Case is great example w the genre.

Ever noticed that the insurance company always feels it's suspicious if you don't file right away? And when you do?

I'll have to do a little research and see if I can find that one. It sounds familiar. If anyone else remembers this one please feel free to share!

Yeah I can't believe that this show wasn't one that made the successful transition to TV. Especially during the Johnstone/Bailey years!
Seems to me, his smaller stature would've worked better. The fight scenes would've made a big guy seem more like a bully.

And JD said he was a former cop and Marine.
