Yeah, without him it's not unreasonable to say that a lot of the open tunings that the old blues players of the 1st. 1/2 of 20th. century used to use would have been largely forgotten. He has helped perpetuate a style of playing for future generations. Thanks Keith.
What a masterpiece !!!…, just showing the most exquisite transition from rhythm and blues to heavy rock, the trademark of The Rolling Stones.. like having a musical orgasm !
The man is a fucking machine. I was at this show (my first time seeing the band live, the 2003 HBO special), and Keith was just on fire this night and this tour. The way he drove the end of "Midnight Rambler" home is seared into my brain forever. Amazingly, I saw them do "Monkey Man" last year at Met Life 2, and it was just as good. A treasure, Keith Richard is.
I prefer watching Keith than Mick. Without a doubt the coolest guitar player in the history of rock 'n' roll. He makes it look so effortless and the sound he gets coming out of that amp are absolute beautiful.
Richards looks like he's honestly enjoying playing on stage after all these years. He can't just be doing it for the money. The guy just likes to play. Keith has the best riffs in the business
Keith Richards is one of a kind like we all are. Keith bless you have made so many people feel. Wow Great sound I love it ! You are in Guitar Bo'zo land and I hope one day to get there too ! Love people ...
Great performance. This was one of the tracks (outside of the obvious hits) that made me want to look deeper into The Rolling Stones catalog. Still one of my favorite Stones rockers !
Monkey Man helps make Let It Bleed maybe my favourite Stones album. That's also influenced by hearing my brother playing it when I was 8yrs old. Sent shivers down my spine!
Ronnies sound with the Stones has always been my favorite, love the slide on this song but with Keith here highlighted....there's just no denying how effortless he makes it look.
It’s about time this video is focused on Keith. I love him and Monkey Man is one of my favorite songs from the Stones. I’ll be there in Philly on June 11th to see them again. I hope they do this song.
When you say "I know I'm missing something", you aint missing anything, my friend! Taylor and Richards were brought together by God!!! And "Let It Bleed" is the greatest record ever recorded. By anyone.
Fair enough. It's just that I have been listening to and loving this song since the early seventies. I agree with you about the intro on the record - it's sublime!
I love this song, and like others here who think it's sublime, I could listen to the intro over and over. Of course it's not crisp here like the album, but still sounds good. They should play it when they resume their tour in later May. (Not that I'll be there, but maybe someone will film it.) The Stones have a whole bunch of great intros that I never tire of and give me chills, such as this song and Gimme Shelter. Thanks for uploading.
STONES at their best great song "Well I hope we're not to, messianic or a trifle to satanic. We just love the blues. OMG one of the best rock lyrics of all time!!!
I believe Kieth is a hero to many of us because he basically said the hell with Life and it's ups and downs. He did the drugs for us all and went to the edge. We all can identify with being down and life going to shit and if we could we would have all been Keith Richards at some point.
Noons comes up with guitar parts like Keith. This one is up there in the worlds most supernatural achievements list or whatever you want to call it. I pity the fool that can't feel this.
His now arthritic fingers mean he re- interprets his own riffs, but he's always 'played in the moment' anyway. So he's still beyond brilliant! Q.E.D. !
I saw an interview with Mic and Kieth and the interviewer asked " what will you do when your done playing music?" They both sat there thinking. Keith looked dumbfounded. Mic smiled and said, " what else is there?".
That to me has always been one of the Stones' downfalls is that they don't do some of their best material live and seem to mostly rely on too many of the really obvious radio friendly hit type tunes.
Looks like Toronto our Rolling Stones hometown we own the boys and everyone knows it...luv on ya all our RUclips peeps ,you are all amazing have a prosperus New Year and bless ya all! J Gemma and Da Girlz....
Ain't this the truth? To my old ears too! Keith is a totally unique player. No, he's not like the usual Strat gods who I adore. But he is a player of extreme passion. And, he makes his own rules, in every way. He's one of the finest rock players. Period.
"Street Fighting Man" in open D (D,A,D, F#.A,D) comes immediately to mind. And there's that crazy "Nashville" Tuning on one of the guitars in "Wild Horses".
The Rolling Stones are like a "happily ever after" rock'n'roll fairy tale. Super talented & popular kids turn into drug addicted assholes, find their way back, and are better than ever. God, Country and the Stones!
@NightGallery I wish they were better than in 1973, but I respect your opinion. For me it feels empty without Mick Taylors guitar playing, but the Stones are still a great live band (of course)!
However, Keith gained his reputation with memorable riffs in the late 60's and early 70's. Because of this he deserves also great respect, even in the last years he became like a ghost on the big circus/stage that is called the Rolling Stones. He makes that Anderson's tellie sing still fine.
Riff Master Extraordinaire. I find Keith's playing fascinating & compelling.
Simply the best
Keith is GOD. He decides when the song starts and when ends too. He lead all the band behind him. Never will be another like him. I adore Keih.
Couldn’t say it better myself!!! Keeeeef forever
Keith rules!!!!!!!!!!!!
ABSOLUTELY RIGHT❗️❗️😳❗️😲😲😲❤️❗️
Could not of said that any better. My musical king is the modern day maestro
I could not have said that any better... long live my musical king. Rock on Keeeeef
Monkey Man: one of the definitive Stones songs.
Keith's performance here: he gives the Telecaster a fine workout.
He is Awsome, along with the rest! LOVE !
standard tuning for a change
The intro and bridge of this song are just musical heaven, some of the best music ever was recorded by the Stones.
Some of??????? The best entertainers ever
Yeah, without him it's not unreasonable to say that a lot of the open tunings that the old blues players of the 1st. 1/2 of 20th. century used to use would have been largely forgotten. He has helped perpetuate a style of playing for future generations. Thanks Keith.
Aaaah. Once again, Keith is an extreme pleasure to watch and hear. Nobody like him.
Richards the riff meister
What a masterpiece !!!…, just showing the most exquisite transition from rhythm and blues to heavy rock, the trademark of The Rolling Stones.. like having a musical orgasm !
The man is a fucking machine. I was at this show (my first time seeing the band live, the 2003 HBO special), and Keith was just on fire this night and this tour. The way he drove the end of "Midnight Rambler" home is seared into my brain forever. Amazingly, I saw them do "Monkey Man" last year at Met Life 2, and it was just as good. A treasure, Keith Richard is.
There will never be a guitar player with such transparent layers of musicianship as Richards
Never.
The fact that Kieth survived it all and is 80 is just something else 👍🏼
and above all else he's having so much fun. A real joy watching this
I prefer watching Keith than Mick. Without a doubt the coolest guitar player in the history of rock 'n' roll. He makes it look so effortless and the sound he gets coming out of that amp are absolute beautiful.
You are witnessing a truely great performance. Keith is the benchmark by which the other guys try to measure up to. Looks like he's having fun too!.
This is all Keith ! He runs this song from start to finish the rest of the band follows his lead !
hanzel nuñez cavazos haha I take it u don’t understand the song if u think monkey means junky. Lmfao
He is the heart of the band, no doubt!
No they all do their thing. Keith rocks the hardest. Is glue !
Keith is the Boss.
He truly is the heart of British rock n roll
The best rock & roll guitar player ever!!
The most absolute - est coolest rock guitar player. Five words...'Paint it Black you Devil!'
Keith is in another world when he plays the guitar.
It's really Charlie, setting the beat, that makes this.
Keith captivates the crowd with his phenomenal guitar playing 🎉🎉
Thank You Keith, You have always and will be forever my favorite Stone!
KEITH has always been a great artist -- all 45 years, or so.. rock on Keith!
Richards looks like he's honestly enjoying playing on stage after all these years. He can't just be doing it for the money. The guy just likes to play. Keith has the best riffs in the business
Mostly learned from chuck berry
Keef hasnt money since the 70's. Its the crowds that love them songs that keeps the Stones rolling .Yep its gotta to be a real charge.
@@igormozajko899and a few others too. He knows great music.
Keith Richards is one of a kind like we all are. Keith bless you have made so many people feel. Wow Great sound I love it ! You are in Guitar Bo'zo land and I hope one day to get there too ! Love people ...
And he came down from the RIF MOUNTAINS IN MOROCOO!
The Master Riff...the One & Only Keeff!!!!! Love you forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great performance. This was one of the tracks (outside of the obvious hits) that made me want to look deeper into The Rolling Stones catalog. Still one of my favorite Stones rockers !
Michael McLoughlin
Keith' playing has always amazed me. Wether with Brian,Mick,or Ron you can almost
always pick Keith out. He's one of a kind.

The Rhythm Maestro Extraordinaire 🙏👊😉😝🌞⭐️❤️
Monkey Man helps make Let It Bleed maybe my favourite Stones album.
That's also influenced by hearing my brother playing it when I was 8yrs old. Sent shivers down my spine!
Ronnies sound with the Stones has always been my favorite, love the slide on this song but with Keith here highlighted....there's just no denying how effortless he makes it look.

I miss Charlie. The coolest Stone.
Wonderful ! Keef is the guy !
By anyone.
It does my heart good to see Keith, BRINGING IT.
"all my friends are junkies" then walks over to Keith as he's singing "that's not really true".
a true artist marches to his own vibe......!
Fair enough. It's just that I have been listening to and loving this song since the early seventies. I agree with you about the intro on the record - it's sublime!
Maestro Keith wrote this in 1969 for Let it Bleed, arguably the beste LP from the guys.
The greatest in the entire world.
the man is a living rock and roll god
I love this song, and like others here who think it's sublime, I could listen to the intro over and over. Of course it's not crisp here like the album, but still sounds good. They should play it when they resume their tour in later May. (Not that I'll be there, but maybe someone will film it.) The Stones have a whole bunch of great intros that I never tire of and give me chills, such as this song and Gimme Shelter. Thanks for uploading.
What good days 70s with the bands that were out there
He is a modern day maestro
K. Richards always brings a smile to my face. Wow!
Keith is Superman.
Best Rolling Stones song ever. :)
Charlie's Select-a Stone is my fave to watch
Asombroso y genial, Richards = Rolling Stones.
STONES at their best great song "Well I hope we're not to, messianic
or a trifle to satanic. We just love the blues. OMG one of the best rock
lyrics of all time!!!
INTRO GUITAR Ist 60 seconds WONDERFUL rock.
@NightGallery No doubt about it! This and LIVE WITH ME are my two faves from LET IT BLEED. Keith laying it down on bass on LIVE WITH ME is it for me!
Love the camera totally on Keef
I believe Kieth is a hero to many of us because he basically said the hell with Life and it's ups and downs. He did the drugs for us all and went to the edge. We all can identify with being down and life going to shit and if we could we would have all been Keith Richards at some point.
One of the best
2:00 mins in where the song takes hold and exactly why I've seen the Stones live every tour. Just great fun.
yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh
obvious who the genius was behind the Stones. I've been enjoying Keith's albums outside the Rolling Stones
KEITH RICHARDS AMAZING
KEITH RICHARDS IS AMAZING AND A GOD
Noons comes up with guitar parts like Keith. This one is up there in the worlds most supernatural achievements list or whatever you want to call it. I pity the fool that can't feel this.
His now arthritic fingers mean he re- interprets his own riffs, but he's always 'played in the moment' anyway. So he's still beyond brilliant! Q.E.D. !
Amazing he's alive! Kudos!
happy birthday keith
Tom Anderson custom Tele! Nice!
I saw an interview with Mic and Kieth and the interviewer asked " what will you do when your done playing music?" They both sat there thinking. Keith looked dumbfounded. Mic smiled and said, " what else is there?".
0.13 Keith Keith claws his ropes like a tiger
Wish the Stones had done this song live in their peak years 1969-1974.
That to me has always been one of the Stones' downfalls is that they don't do some of their best material live and seem to mostly rely on too many of the really obvious radio friendly hit type tunes.
Slithery...so good it hurts. That guitar around his ankles too...
Looks like Toronto our Rolling Stones hometown we own the boys and everyone knows it...luv on ya all our RUclips peeps ,you are all amazing have a prosperus New Year and bless ya all!
J Gemma and Da Girlz....
Keith's birthday today. DJ on the radio said he is 537 .
But he will never die....!!!! But i am worried about what kind os fucking world will we let at Keith for the day of tomorrow ???
yeah and he's still doing it.
thanx for sharing cheers
Yeah, this is a pretty good version of a song they very rarely play. I love all of the "Let It Bleed" album, it still sounds so fresh. All the best.
Awesome ❤️
Ain't this the truth? To my old ears too!
Keith is a totally unique player. No, he's not like the usual Strat gods who I adore. But he is a player of extreme passion.
And, he makes his own rules, in every way.
He's one of the finest rock players. Period.
One of the finest???? There is nobody in his stratosphere
One of the finest????? He is music
Keith 'Keef' es el sonido Stone!, el Riff Humano!
👍🏻 ”El riff humano” - seems quite spot on❣️
These riffs r so great , running out to get electric again, lovesalotta thanxalotta great version crew!
Charlie watts on this track is awesome to ... search for Monkey man with charlie...
"Street Fighting Man" in open D (D,A,D, F#.A,D) comes immediately to mind. And there's that crazy "Nashville" Tuning on one of the guitars in "Wild Horses".

@NightGallery I wish they were better than in 1973, but I respect your opinion. For me it feels empty without Mick Taylors guitar playing, but the Stones are still a great live band (of course)!
You CAN'T LOVE Keith If you CAN'T love ME!
Diggin the Tom Anderson tele
Not a Tele, it is a Tom Anderson Cobra- mahogany/maple top, 24 3/4" scale
always a tune to remember
Wish the Stones had offered a live treatment of this beautiful song when Mick Taylor was in the band - a '73 version would've been nice :)
the stones could farth for an hour on stage and it would still sound amazing
they are gods of rock !
@clubfan12 Nay you're thinking of pHish they could pHart for an entire show and the crowd would still eat it up.
However, Keith gained his reputation with memorable riffs in the late 60's and early 70's.
Because of this he deserves also great respect, even in the last years he became like a ghost on the big circus/stage that is called the Rolling Stones.
He makes that Anderson's tellie sing still fine.
Living, breathing ROCK AND ROLL!
Awesome
