    That drummer really knows his way around his kit. He's getting all kinds of sounds out of his kit. I like how he subtly comes in an out with his snare changing speed while keeping time and soft volume. Not too many rock drummers can do that

      Montreux Alexander was recorded in 1976. Monty was 32 years old back then. I think he will agree.

    Nice! Heard more than a half dozen different interpretations from Monty, all equally delightful. Obed Calvaire is just great. Love the way he and bassist Hassan Shakur carry the tune while Monty does some talkin'!

    The Monty Alexander Jazz Festival 2021 runs over Labor Day Weekend. Shows take place indoors and outdoors. Patrons must show proof of vaccination to enter indoor concerts.

    Excellent stuff, but Monty does an even better version of this on 'The Paris Concert' which can be had on DVD recorded July 2001. It's also on 'RUclips'

    my name is Lance Parker saxophone player from Pittsburgh PAafter studying at Carnegie Mellon University I had the great privilege of studying with Sonny Stitt who I met at the Jazz Festival University of PittsburghSonny and I became great friends I ended up meeting him whenever I wasn't playing in Pittsburgh and would stay in the hotel and study with him in the afternoons in the conference room of the hotel he would take me out with the greatest musicians in the world that I sat in over 5 years.Sonny would bring me up the last half hour the set and maybe 45 minutes and he would let me play with the top 10 in the world of jazz Kenny Clark Abraham laboriel slide Hampton Kenny Burrell Jackie byard Groove HolmesDon PattersonJimmy Smith and more sunny I remember playing with him at the High Chaparral in Columbus Ohio with Monty Alexanderwho I got to go up on the Bandstand and play with I'll never forget those 5 years off and on studying with the Great Master he gave me his Mark 7 Selmer tenor saxophones in 1978 which I've had all my lifehe made me the player I am this message from Lance Parker Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Sax Man
