I watched one where someone trys to steal cell phones but then runs into the locked door. Turns around, my friends made me do it. Then they let him out without calling the cops.
I got one that's pretty close... It comes from practicing criminal law for over 10 years. After hearing from his buddy that he did well in robbing a local drug store/retail store, the guy thought he would try the same thing. He went in with the old finger-in-the-pocket trick and demanded to the 19-year old female employee at the cash register, "Give me your money!" She just looked at him, said no, and the would-be robber immediately left, dejected.
Not only the owners, but also the robber himself becomes dispassionate after a while - look how he strolls out of the store, dude couldn’t even convince himself.
Borat would’ve done a better job at trying to at least convince people that he’s trying to rob them and Ali G would’ve ABSOLUTELY been a whole lot better than this guy.
Back in the early 2000s I said something similar to vagrants. Whenever one would ask me if I had spare change, I'd reply: _"Man, I_ was about to ask _you_ the _same_ thing." 🙃 Most didn't love that, but they all understood.

Didn't see a gun and might have faked it with the lady bag. But the humiliation might make go over the edge and get a real gun. Even if it wasn't a serious robbery they should have callled the cop and make a restraining order. Because i've seen enough videos about robbers returning more aggressive.
