As the "drum corps old fart" who comments on these videos, it was very nice to see my favorite "drum corps nerd" teamed up with the young woman who helped to reignite my attention and love for the activity, especially watching her videos of reactions coming out of the pandemic... not sure if you guys want to make this a series, but I'd be all for it! More collabs of the "drum corps insider" and the total novice fan who just simply appreciates great performances! Very well done, Everett!!!
@@CourtneyCoulston Wow, Courtney! Thanks for your warm response! Like I commented above, watching your exuberant responses to certain shows reminded me of the pure joy of the fan watching it for the first time, like I was some over 40 years ago when I saw my first live show, then ended up marching in a corps the very next year…. Fast forward some 40 years later, and I’m a board member of that same corps! I’d love to see you do some reaction videos from this past season’s shows, and we definitely need to get you to Indy next year! Keep up the great work!
OH MY GOD I WAS IN THIS SHOW!!! I am the guard member with the beard in the bottom right corner of the screen at 4:26!!! I've watched Courtney react to DCI since the very beginning and now seeing her react to the show I WAS IN is crazy! Always love the content and can't wait to see more from both channels!
Since I was a kid I’ve been a marching band/drum corps fanatic and on a random search found Courtney’s channel and like was said her outside perspective and enjoyment was so endearing and wonderful I’m always watching her reactions. Oddly enough I found funliner as a next up vid while watching a Courtney video one day and loved the content and everyone there. So this collab was so perfect I have no words. Awesome vid! So good!
I forgot all about her! It's a treat to see her reactions! She's such a positive energy, and glad that she's asking questions about the activity to get some more understanding.
LOVE THE MANDARINS! It was fun to hear Courtney's perspective. Experienced or not, music really is for all! :) Mandarins were totally all in this year, and it showed.
So many great shows in 22/23. Hope Courtney starts reacting again. She reminds me of myself seeing my first live shows. Love the technical reviews of course, but Courtney is so refreshing and fun. It is truly a general audience perspective.
OH MY GAWD NO WAYY I’ve missed her reacting so much I just love how a person with no prior band experience has so many kind things to say like when she said idk y we are considered band geeks and that she thinks band kids are cool
A crossover that we never saw coming but that we’ve always needed. It was so cool seeing two iconic DCI content creators collab. You always have such refreshing and thought-provoking commentary, Courtney! I’m already counting down the days until the next collab 👀
And that video missed so many other cool things that were going on while the camera was focused on the soloists. This video is used so often on RUclips but it really missed some other awesome movements. It was incredible to see in person! All-time favorite!
Hey! I love all your videos really bringing Drum Corps out on RUclips. I had a thought that with DCI All-Age starting up this year, maybe you could watch and review some DCA shows from 2023. The Reading Buccaneers (placed 1st) and Hawthorne Cabbelleros (placed 2nd) had some really memorable shows!!
i was the first one to pay for a guaranteed viewing ('14 Bloo), and paid for a few more -- including the show the BEAT me ('84 Cadets). Have always found Courtney's responses fun and heartfelt. Her drum corps content dropped off probably because she was getting overwhelmed and i was taking focus off her main channel content, but any reactions from her are golden!
Hopefully yall get Courtney on with Alan and Malik too! Shes always had awesome reactions and like you mentioned, having that outsider perspective is also so unique! So glad to have her back in the world of Marching Bands/Drum Corps!
I found another insane japanese marching band, the marching band is called IPU (international pacific university) (not iup) and theres a show from 2022 (The Western) that apparently won gold according to the comments (edit: 2013 show called Malaguena which might be my favorite in terms of music; gotta skip like 4 minutes tho to skip the intro into the actual show)
@bcullen78 After she visits the Crown brass lot, we can get her into the BD championship party so she can try on one of those gold medals and title rings.
It's a good thing I wasn't asked to react to this show because it wouldn't be pretty, I'm afraid. First of all, these kids are amazing and they execute this so well and they are to be commended for that for sure. I have no problem with the performers themselves, but the design I have a BIG problem with. I'm not some religious nut, but I do know the bible well and sin is not something to make light of. That's problem number one. Problem number two (and frankly, the bigger problem) I don't like the music at all. I also hated all the electronic voices and sound effects, it's just not for me. It was "cringe city" for me and it's becoming more common in today's drumcorps. It's getting harder and harder for me to enjoy drumcorps because of the choices these show designers are making. In 2023, I only enjoyed THREE shows, and one of them (Cadets) ruined my until then favorite show by adding a bunch of crappy voice. I'm getting sick of this. I love drumcorps, but it's getting away from me and it really sucks after all these years. Hopefully next year will be better. This year was pretty dismal though. I enjoyed Carolina Crown, Troopers and (for a while) Cadets. I get that it's not you so you will want to say, "Don't let the door hit you on the way out." but try to put yourself in my position. If you follow this activity for long enough, it WILL happen to you unless you're one of those people who just go along with anything. Imagine the thing you love passionately changing so much that you don't recognize it anymore and most of what you loved about it is gone. That's where I'm at.
omg such a fun video to take part in! thank you soooo much for having me on your show!!!!!
Boston Crusaders 23' reaction pls

Wow! I used to watch Courtney's reactions all the time! Good to see her back watching DCI with us. :)
I love seeing people react to this. My cousin plays Euphonium with the Mandarins, and I was so proud of him with this show.
LOVE THE MANDARINS! It was fun to hear Courtney's perspective. Experienced or not, music really is for all! :) Mandarins were totally all in this year, and it showed.
Yes! I just looked at her DCI playlist the other day and was sad to see she hasn't made any dci content recently. I hope to see more collabs with her!
The collab of history
you’re the best!!!! thank you for checking out the video! :)
I love how much of a legend she has become, even when she has only touched the tip of the iceberg
As a trombone player I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE the solo

Oh wow! 💚
What a great duo for a reaction video!
The first trombone soloist is in the same college and marching band as me and it is so weird to see him up there in this video.
Best collab. love courtney
I would have never seen this coming
