An alternative is that you can press the plane, go into edit mode, go to the subdivide option on the left, then choose the options you'll like. Then, you should be able to complete the tutorial as shown
very handy thank you. I wanted a terrain landscape that i can paint on with blend materials in UE4 and this is what i needed, a high poly terrain to paint! Thank you
Your videos are always perfect timing. I was going to learn to make low poly terrain kind of similar to astroneer (if you have seen that game). As always your videos are great :)
Hi new at blender, I just wanted to know since everything here was made in 2019. After adding the subdivisions I'm supposed to select apply. However it wont show and its still wont work except just with the 4 areas/corners when sculpting. I was wondering how to make it work?
Can I make multiple of these and then connect them together before texturing/coloring? I need to sculpt a specific ladscape with lakes and complicated terrain with the island in the middle.. thanks!
I don't know what is going on, sometimes the vertices will go side ways or diagonal, how can you fix the vertices such that it only can be "moved" vertically ?
I'm missing something, when I go back to the sculpting mode after the subdivision surface I can't sculpt. The brush is there and everything but the plane object does not get sculpted
@@GuestUser-jf8uj you are welcome. If you want that the number of vertices increases when you sculpt so you don't need to do subdivide more times (so you avoid to generate a lot of useless vertices) check the box "Dyntopo" in sculpt mode, that is up on the right. You could also use the free A.N.T. addon to generate procedurally landscapes but I haven't tried it yet.
If you don't see any changes after applying the subsurface modifier, deselect Optimal Display in the modifier settings to see the changes live
Thank you man 🙏
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the tutorial, man!
Same
Same!
pro trick: you can watch series at flixzone. Been using it for watching all kinds of movies these days.
@Jameson Harley definitely, I have been using flixzone for since november myself :)
Perfect! Literally what I was looking for! Thank you!
Dude, you helped me a lot. Thank you
You know how to bring across what to do and also shortly explain why that is what you have to do, really good short and efficient video!
1:42 i think my modifier is missing the options you have /:

mine doesnt show viewport?
Wow, perfect tutorial! Right to the point and you added a lot of great tips about improving/changing the look. Thank you very much

Absolutely perfect, thank you!
Life saver man!!
Exactly what I wanted, thanks!
Thank you very much, I was a bit afraid of touching sculpting cuz i thought it would be a bit too hard
Thanks!
I'm using blender 2.9 and trying to find symmetry X but I dfine at sculpt. I find it over the gizmo and just unchecked X.
THANK YOU LIFE SAVER
Thank you for this outstanding tutorial!
Thanks! Straight to the point and understandable for a 3d beginner like me. :)
In 2.9, there is no "viewport" option, but it is activated when you deactivate "optimal display".
You can also go into edit mod, right click and at the very top there is an option called Subdivide as much as you need
still doesnt show up for me :/
One of the best tutorials I've ever seen, thank you.
First, and a very useful video. Thank You!
And second?
nice, quick and simple, thank you
Thanks man, exactly what I was looking for!!!

I had the same problem. On the modifier press Control + A or the down arrow next to the camera icon.
Great video: simple and succinct!

Bro your a Legend, thank you so much🔥💯

Thanks dude
that mountain looks like a nose lol but great tutorial!!
Great Video!
I don't know what is going on, sometimes the vertices will go side ways or diagonal, how can you fix the vertices such that it only can be "moved" vertically ?
Before you start sculpting, select your model and press ctrl+a and apply scale. That might fix it
you deserve more subscribers man!
wow, thank you,
;)
where do i find the viewport at 2:03? since this was 3 years ago im guessing blender has updated a lot lol
help when ever i try to select the parts the subdivision thing made it wont select them it just selects the outside of the plane
hello my only problem is subdivison surface I can't change the amount of vertices, can somoen help me?
If you see the box 'optimal display', try checking it off.
@@HTtwentyten thanks dude

i got the same issue i dont know how to fix this
I dont see the Subdivisions panel with the render viewport and quality settings when I use the subdivision modifier
Click the optimal display to off
i see that it is for pulling upward, so how about if I want to pull it downward?
Mine subdivision modifyer is not showing all options..... There is only levels view and render... Please help
it's the levels in blender 2.9
@@mikaelhaapala ya I got that after I wrote the comment... Thanx btw
Awesome tutorial, next time try to use the scale in the edges, if not you will have trouble with the textutes!!
Cool
thx 👍👍💥
theres no apply button on subdividivision section :(
dude this was so useful!! imma change my pfp now
I need help if I draw anything at one side it will be duplicated to other side
i followed these exact steps and still couldn't sculpt
im dont have a view port?
TYSM
how do i add colour and stuff to it now
Add a material, cmon a quick google search will do
wouldnt it be easier just to do dynamic topography?
Would it be simpler? Idk
i dont have the apply option so it wont let me sculpt. do u have advice?
nvm!
i found out
the only problem i have is that when i try to sculpt it doesnt do it as low poly
In object mode selec your model and press w and then shade flat
@@SingleSapling Ok thank you!
But for some reason it won’t show me how to turn off symmetry x
Did you figure out how to turn it off?
Finally something helpful, thank you so much!
why dont you show your keypress and mouseclicks ?
I have a video that shows those
When importing into unity it comes as a simple plane, pls help
Make sure you click apply on the subsurface modifier. The changes aren't actually saved to the mesh before you do that.
@@Nickmav1337 oh thank you
I expected to see how to keep the resolution the same
What do you mean by "resolution", do you meanthe scale of the model?
@@SingleSapling I expected that it generates more verticles when you sculpt. But I already found the solution, just turn dyntopo on.
Short and straight to the point, great video! That Decimate Modifier looks super stylish.
;)
Thank you SO much. Now I can sculpt my WWI trench out of planes
dont work :(
Which part
I was making map big as fuck
It took 10hours with team
Instead of changing the scale you should just change the dimensions
It doesnt work
Doesn't work dude. There's no apply button.
make sure that you are in object mode and click the arrow on the modifier, then click apply
